  1. The ump is a .45 cal smg...bigger round, more stopping power. Same size mag, but the .45 mag is straight as an arrow while the mp5 is curved. Other than that, the mechanism is the same modified blowback that H&K has been using since the dawn of time. Because of the bigger bullet, recoil is increased, but still controllable.
  2. n00bs. Easiest way to do this: FT A: m4-sd/extra clips, m4/m203, mm1/AT4 FTB: 2x m249 or m60. FT C: psg1 sd or sr25 sd with sensors.. Drop tango in the gully directly over the hill in front of you with FT C. Use team A to eliminate the roadblock and northern guard tower. take teams A and C down the east side of the map towards the helipad. Eliminate the guards but don't destroy the helo yet. Have team C place a sensor or two at the west gate of the compound to alert you of any tangos evac'ing. Take team B up the front approach and just make a lot of noise. You may want to have a demo man in place of the second support guner to knock out the t-55 there. If you did this right, your target will evac the compound and head for the helipad. Switch to team C and set up on the north side of the helipad and wait. when three tango's appear on the map near your sensor, switch to team A and destroy the helo. This will stop your mark, making his bodyguards easy prey. DO NOT hit the guy in the white suit-that's your mark.
  3. In the future, no one shoots in a straight line! ← Hell, half the time, no one does now!!!!
  4. Don't know bout the poly count. Catia doesn't give info like that. Unfortunately, there are over 50 individual components for that vehicle, so I don't know if it would be a viable one for GR. Also, Catia doesn't allow texturing and the file type is not compatible with GR, so, regrettably, all that work was just for eye-candy. If I ever get a copy of 3dsmax, though, the skills I have with Catia should carry over pretty well
  5. OK guys, here it is. Granted, its really cluttered because of the constraints and individual axes, but the overall shape is there. If I could texture, it wouldn't look half bad, if I do say so myself. Only about 11 hours of work
  6. Hey all, Since my use of Catia isn't too good for weapons modeling, thought I'd try my hand at vehicle modeling. Since this is what the program is designed for, it actually works out quite well. I should have my first model posted this weekend...i'll try something like 4 different angles. If anyone has any suggestions for vehicles to model, let me know!. Be more than happy to knock out some 3d views of a vehicle if someone want's to see it "ingame" when my class schedule allows. Keep in mind that it won't be textured, since Catia doesn't allow that. But it does do some nice views! NOTE: Concept vehicles are especially welcome. Actual vehicles will be a little harder without dimensions, but I can find those. Try to keep it to wheeled vehicles, like Stykers and LAV's. Tracks are really hard without hundreds of repetitions! not sayin its impossible, just don't expect the models to be produced to quick, thats all
  7. those would scare the ###### out of me if one was bearing down on me!!!!
  8. Awesome.... Any scope to go along with it? ← haven't made any new scopes lately...maybe i can come up with one this week. ← Those ump's are fine with the iron sights. if anything, u could add a reflex sight or something, but don't go overboard. no point in having a high-powered scope on a weapon that's only meant to shoot bout 10-20 yds
  9. Nice model. U sure it's a mannlicher? looks more like a mosin-nagant 2 me. that stupid mag well screws up the id a bit, cuz both rifles have it. the sights would help a bit...could u add a bit more detail to them?
  10. What the modders won't come up with next! Looks great guys. What's the blast characteristics on it? Any special animations with it, like the jewels flying across the room?
  11. yeah, reload time is upgraded by the weapon stats. As for switching to secondaries, u can always cheat and make it an "underbarell weapon". GR makes this switch instantaneously so.....
  12. HK weaps are notorious for ease of barrel change. You can field strip a g-36, or any other HK in a matter of seconds, and as for the fast barrel change, that wasn't part of the design for the BAR, and that wasn't a problem. Support weapons like the BAR and MG36 aren't designed for sustained fire missions, so a barrel change isn't really needed. The designation MG just means that it has a heavier barrel and more robust mechanism than the standard rifle.
  13. would be interesting, considering that it's basically a .50cal SMG, right? Had me stumped there for a minute when I saw the standard length mag in there...what are the ballistics going 2 be like?
  14. I can only imagine what you guys are planing for that.....V1 was simply fantastic.
  15. Those accessories are sweet Pro.....hope the weaps are as good....be nice to see what else u guys are working on....or at least a list of the contents for this mod..PLZ!!!!
  16. Would make things rather interesting in Operation Afghanistan....would really ###### off the terrorists....right before it blew!
  17. I know the Navy Seals mod has one in there... think it's a DMR though....so it's prolly the 7.62x51 you're looking for. Not sure about the furniture on it.
  18. This is a thread discussing taking out tanks with AMRs, I'm not sure reality is real high on the list of priorities here.... ← I never said anything about tanks. I know that a high-caliber AMR will disable a thin-skinned vehicle like a BRDM or BMP if the engine is hit. The Army was experimenting with a lazer-tracking round for a new AMR that theoretically could be sighted on the joint where the turret meets the hull since that area is very thinly armored, but that never came to fruition. A standard .50cal ball round will knock out the engine on a duece and a half rather efficiently, and an AP round will do the same on a BMP or BRDM.
  19. I'm a bit of a sharpshooter myself, so I don't rely too heavily on immense firepower. For CQB: MP5-N, M-4 Masterkey, or full length Remington 870. Nothing like a face full of 00 buckshot from 3 feet! Night ops: M-4 SD, XM8-SD, MP5a6 SD w/ ACOG Sharpshooters: H&K SR9, PSG-1 SD, M40 A3, M-21, MSG-90 M-82. Usually rely on SR9 and M-21 unless silence is needed. I've got a fairly sizeable sniper arsenal, so it's all about accuracy and stealth.
  20. I've heard talk of the specops community adopting a 6.8mm carbine to replace the M-4/M-16. Special operations guys are known for wanting compensation for their general lack of firepower and have a habit of using non-G.I. weapons, so the 6.8x43 would prolly be a good switch for them. Whether it's the M-468 or another carbine in that caliber remains to be seen. After all, you don't send an operator where you can send a bullet, and the bigger the bullet, the better.
  21. The MP5 can also fire different types of rounds than standard pistol ammo. Ever heard of a "Yellow Jacket" round? Its a really big problem here in the US, since hardcore criminals tend to get their hands on them illegally and use them on police, hence the other name "Cop killers". It's a steel-jacketed round designed to punch through body armor like its paper. It's still a 9-19mm round, but the harder case increases the lethality.
  22. I'd have to agree on the puzzlement behind the kit restrictions. As long as the weapon doesnt provide a silluette that resembles a Kalashnikov or other non-coalition weapon, or doesn't sound like an AK, then what's the prob? Still, for a contractor it seems kinda overkill to have a tricked out primary unless you're heading into really hot areas. Even then, it's not like you're going to be engaging in combat unless some damn fool decides to make Uncle Sam or John Bull any angrier.
  23. If they did then I haven't heard of it. And whoever came up with that needs to do some major research, cuz the M-82 isn't compatible with SLAP rounds like the M2 is. Modders try for realism, if I'm not mistaken (genuflects to CHEMS, Snowfella, Piccolo, etc.).
  24. Not sure if that would be a really effective sniper weapon, though. Putting a scope on a rifle doesnt automatically make it a sniper rifle. Still, it does look cool and any designated marksman would be proud to carry it! I'm guessing the real weapon has a better quality barrel and reciever, right?
  25. Ok, thks I find out more on the G36. Thks, I been trying to complete the list of weapons I had made recently... Thks, I roughly know wat it is. But still need to find out the physical shape. The XM8 link in that website is invalid. ← Maybe, but that Cobb .50 looks really interesting. Anyone interested in taking a crack at it? Think the only things that need to be done are lengthen the barrel and change the magazine and charging lever!! Also, did anyone notice in the main video the sound from that suppressed Mcmillan weapon? That's about what an M-4sd would sound like, even though the mcmillan was using 6.8 ammo rather than 5.56
