The other day my parents main computer's HDD died and stopped being recognized in BIOS as well as in other computers. So I talked 'em into getting a new computer. They are totally afraid of self built computers which my mom has named "Frankenstien's." So we had to get a prefab. We ended up getting a very decent computer with XP 2600+, 80GB HDD, 6 in 1 Media Reader, GF4 MX gfx 64MB DDR SDRAM, 512MB DDR, DVD/RW, CD/RW and thats about it. It performs very well for a prefab. Can't wait till all my new parts arrive though.

I host games as many others do from behind routers. Go to google.com and type in something like Whats my IP and it should come up with your public IP. Then forward whichever ports gr uses for MP (cant remeber specifically) and it should work. It always has for me.

But they were laptops bro, we were accounting for full fledged systems not the laptops. Sorry if I offended you. Nice try phantom, but when he mentioned Laptops, they consume less power and don't have speakers/sperate monitors and are built to consume less energy than a desktop. I figured I would tell you how they work since you seem a little unknowing. I don't mean that as a flame or anything mind you just as some general info.

Well I am calling Comcast to come out here then cause I am having trouble dloading things fast such as Demo, mp3's etc. Okay I mean a file that isn't from any line testing site. Have you ever dloaded a demo, mp3, trailer etc. at 500kbps? And unless you are running the larger tests i.e. the 700kb ones then that 534 or whatever number is an estimate since you aren't dloading a full 534 document thus it being synthetic. I can't wait till the end of August though ....maybe it should be added to the forum calendar. Sounds like deja vu.

Phantom you are getting a bit too into this Im just trying to help so let me. Ruin my speeds were 18.6, 14.2, 12.4 and 14.1 start to finish. I have screenshots that I can email to you if you want. My ISP told me I am in tip top condition. Total Elapsed time is 2:34 for that Ruin. Damn seems I am in the barrel.

The best way I think of it is that when you have 56k, you never can download at 56kb/s even though it is 56k. Phantom, we should find a decent sized file and see what the 3 of us download it at (not neccesarily the whole file). Im up for it whenever if you want to do it.
