Let's get this party started!
GreyHaired replied to Lightspeed's topic in Lightspeed's GR Tournament 2009
Hi, depending on where the gamer lives, she/he might be asleep or at work when you send the mission. Not knowing how much time is reserved for a mission, could this be an issue? -
GRT 2009 - Sign-Ups here plz
GreyHaired replied to Lightspeed's topic in Lightspeed's GR Tournament 2009
Thanks for arranging this Lightspeed. I'm in. -
For Nvidia cards, Rivatuner is probably a better option but I don't know if it actually keeps a log. http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?page=rivatuner

Not enough Memory to complete this operation
GreyHaired replied to Rocky's topic in Self Help Tech Support
Did you check Task Manager - Processes to see which programs use the memory? You may have to check the "View - Select columns - Virtual Memory Size" if the memory usage isn't already shown. -
Welcome ;-) You must use the "Create Game" option and you don't need to do anything. Just wait for the others to join. The other PC(s) on the LAN will find you automatically. You cannot host and game with the "Dedicated Server" option. It only works as a server. Have fun.

Runs fine in the Win7 Beta version - haven't installed the RC1 yet. I installed this OS on a different partition, with dual boot XP/Win 7. I removed GR from the XP platform.

GR stopped working after installing patch 1.4
GreyHaired replied to teddemen's topic in GR (PC) - Tech Support
Make sure you cleaned the registry and removed any Red Storm entertainment folders on your HDD. There's a guide under "important topics" at the top of the Tech support forum. After the uninstall you can also run the registry cleaner of ccleaner (www.ccleaner.com) as well as the standard cleaner of this program. The order of installation is: GR DS IT Patch 1.4 -
[P2: "A Cold Day in Hell" v1.00 - public release]
GreyHaired replied to migryder's topic in GR - General Mod Topics
The maps are so amazing with lots of eye- and ear candy that you sometimes forget to shoot the enemy, get shot and must restart. So it'll take some time to complete the campaign and give feedback here -
Downloading the update. Your Media Release is a great read and appetizer for those who have shelved GR or don't know the game. Oh I've been stuck with it for about 6 years now and can easily take another 6 with all the candy that pops up. Thanks for your dedication, work and time to bring so much fun and pleasure to us.

Tips for Quick Mission (Defend)?
GreyHaired replied to MarkShot's topic in GR (PC) - General Discussion
Yeah, those Defend missions can be quite mean. Direct your squads quickly to different strategic positions away from the smoke. Switch from squad to squad, depending where the action is. Learn from the experiences (especially where to position your squads) but most of all: have fun. -
Did you install patch 1.4? You can post the contents of the ike log if you want.
-
and if you need to convert the file, this is freeware too: http://www.erightsoft.net/SupCk2.html

Thanks for pointing that out Rocky. So it's an either/or. The more options the better.

Here's your monitor to go with it: http://www.iz3d.com/t-22monitor.aspx Be careful when you run out of the room when that monster's coming at you. You may stumble over your chair and break a leg. I once saw a 3-D clip where popcorn was spilt all over the screen. People watching it were wiping "popcorn" off their laps. Only there wasn't any.

Windows 7 Beta Free Official Download Tomorrow
GreyHaired replied to Rocky's topic in Computer Discussions
You've got the key at home but just in case and for others who cannot find it at all: 1) If you have misplaced your product key for activation, don't worry. Just return to the site where you downloaded the *** Beta, restart the download process and re-enter your Windows Live ID. This will re-display the product key you were assigned when you downloaded the product. (And, you can use the same product key to install the Windows 7 Beta on up to three PCs.) *** http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7...t_pmgbi_win7_11 -
Another time Autoruns is a better option than msconfig as long as you just uncheck and not delete: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx

Did you check if Windows created a restore point at all? Can be this was done right after installation. Not sure about this but I find there are more restore points than I've created so it's worth a check.

Windows 7 Beta Free Official Download Tomorrow
GreyHaired replied to Rocky's topic in Computer Discussions
Running the beta version (30 days free) and I'm impressed. I don't know Vista so cannot compare but it's user friendly, many features. I don't think it boots faster than XP but once the Windows bar switches to the desktop, there's definitely a difference. I didn't need to install any driver. You can install the OS on a partition or second hdd and when you power up there's a dual boot option. It is said that if MS ever brings something to the market that does not suck, it's a vacuum cleaner but I've got the feeling that Win-7 proves this wrong. -
Fortunately our own AI is just as sharp ;-) Thanks for the info ApexMods - I have overseen this in the "known issues" part.
-
That explains it then. Thanks for the feedback. There's so much to choose from so np to bypass this map.

First of all a big "Thank You" for bringing this mod to our community. There is far too much candy for just one Christmas ;-)) I ran into a problem and asked a friend if he could reproduce it, which he could. Mission "Deja Vu" in grid E8 is a flight of stairs. When I got to the top and moved forward, the floor disappeared. I could pull back move down and continue. My friend said he had a similar problem in grid H13. After a short break I wanted to resume the mission to check out H13 but the screen started up with the message "All soldiers have been lost". This is what the ike.log says: Loading map c:\program files\red storm entertainment\ghost recon\mods\heroes unleashed\map\ig01_downtown_mog\ig01_downtown_mog.map SimHuman: _Opposing Human9[ AI_13 (13) ]: Could not find my room for location <-89.2744, -30.2545, 6.75> RSGameStateMgr::LoadGameFromStream( std::ifstream ) Could not read stream

Computer Peripherals Not Coming On...
GreyHaired replied to squad_e's topic in Self Help Tech Support
Possibly too much thermal paste. Make sure the bottom of your heatsink and the top of your cpu are competely clean. Thermal paste: a drop half the size of a pea in the middle of the cpu, then let the pressure of the heatsink spread it. Not recommended but for a quick try you can install the heatsink without thermal paste and see if it does not shut down. Got an Arctic Cooler "Freezer 64 Pro" unwrapped but also unused. -
Audio Device On High Definition Bus Audio Bus
GreyHaired replied to Rocky's topic in Self Help Tech Support
Ah, lucky punch speaking of audio - I found this freeware. It converts practically everything vice versa and when you open the program, you can also click a video tab. The program will download and install video converter software. Converted avi to mpeg-4 and that worked smoothly. On installation, it also installs some "telephony related programs" - pops up with its own link in the start menu. http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index.html -
Audio Device On High Definition Bus Audio Bus
GreyHaired replied to Rocky's topic in Self Help Tech Support
You disabled the onboard sound/hd audio. Your SB card delivers the sound and Creative has its own HD audio drivers for your card in case you wanna go that way. Good you solved it.
