  1. A soundcard with a USB port? That sounds new to me.

If your PC has several USB ports, try one of the others. I'll go look at the specs and get back if there's anything else to be aware of.

Not knowing if you have any other USB devices, the USB ports may be disabled in the BIOS.

Mouse cord: if you make a loop of the mouse cord, the mouse will move better than with a straight cord.

Edit: Plantronics website confirms it's plug and play so another option is to check the audio settings in Control Panel. See if there are other audio software options.

Finally, maybe the head set only works with a Ghost Recon CD and not Arma II :D:P

  2. Hello my friend,

Check/compare LiteOn and NEC drives, good value for money.

By the way: did you install any Sony software back then? They had an issue few years ago because their software installed a "backdoor" . Not only illegal but also preventing several types of discs/CDs from playing.

Edit: Forget about NEC unless a shop got it in stock. They joined optical drive forces with Sony ("Sony Optiarc").

Of course you can consider this brand too; it's a free world, I just don't buy any Sony stuff anymore.

Like CR6 mentioned, LG is also good value for money. Plextor is good but quite expensive. And again, like CR6 said, check the jumper settings of the drive that you replace and make sure the new one has the same settings. If you want we can go through it on TS one of these days.

  3. You have two attempts.

It's the gamers' own choice to go for just one, or two insertions.

Obviously two insertions increase the chance for a good ranking but that's ok with me.

I replayed the first mission with the updated file and had no problem to complete an objective. The gameplay is different, the tension disappears - it's a personal taste and doesn't take away my respect for those who achieve a top ranking with two insertions. Let that be clear.

    Good luck tonight

  4. I've asked earlier if you have the possibility to test the card in another PC.

It sounds strange when two cards are considered faulty so it's worthwhile to check if it's the mobo's PCI-E slot(s).

Is this a fresh install with new mobo etc or did you only swap the video card?

If the latter, can you do a system restore back to a date, before you installed the first "faulty" card?

Optimally then install an old video card to see if that one works.

I take it that hardware/software like PSU, bios etc are all conform to the card's requirements.

  5. Mine crashed same way as Gache, shooting an enemy through the window inside the compound.

I think I mentioned it in the email with the replay.

The 40 minutes have given me too much info about the mission and since I had failed the first objective, it wouldn't be fair towards the co-gamers who also choose one insertion only, if I gave it a second go.

  6. Second that Rocky.

When we played tournaments with our Team Nighthawks, the concept about studying the briefing, the map and then wondering where and how the scripter tried to (read: succeeded in) outsmarting you was great fun.

The excitement came when it all had to be put to practice: First insertion, one try.

This tournament is generous with two attempts but I've decided on the first insertion only, make or break ;)

Have fun everybody and good luck.
