As a language instructor I've always seen the difference. While I consider myself a little more eloquent, Crimson is Kinda right: Beautiful is classically beautiful, encompassing a kind of perfection or traditional portrait-type face that often winds up in beauty pageants or on the cover of women's magazines. Beautiful people are generally agreed by all to be beautiful. Julia Roberts and Richard Gere are examples of classically beautiful/handsome. Classical beauty doesn't boil the blood: while I recognize the beauty of Julia Roberts or Princess Diana, I never found them particularly a

What medium/heavy MG do Special Forces use?
budgie replied to GothicSnake's topic in Real World Military
I saw on the FN website that the Mk46 and 48 are two different guns: FN-MAG (M240B or GPMG) all variations of the same 7.62 'light' machine gun. Minimi (M249, C9, etc) this is the newer, smaller 5.56 'version' of the MAG. It actually has the same action but looks so different and is sued so widely it has spawned a class of its own including; Minimi para ( very short barrel and a sliding stock) MK46 Mod-0 (the seals like it - fixed stock I think and shorter barrel - rail system added) Which brings us to the MK48 Mod-0 (a 7.62 version of the M249 to look at, with the same rail syst -
I understand the Cobra will actually switch from one engine to two (or was that done years ago?) Will the Huey also switch to two engines? Is this supposed to make them a little faster. Sorry for the Q's but I don't know about helicopters.

This is one of the most comprehensive collections I've seen and appears to accurately chronicle the path from AR15 to the lastest M4A1s. The stats are for some RPG but the write-ups are spot on... The Supply Bunker have fun

I used to have a girlfriend that looked a lot like Angelina Jolie, despite the fact she was actually Korean. Man that combination of pouty lips and almond eyes was incredible. Dumped me and went back to her previous boyfriend

Rather than get all new aircraft, the USMC are opting to upgrade (expansively and expensivley it looks) their UH1 Hueysand AH1 Cobras. I must say they look sweet too...

When I was a kid I wished I could become a soldier for typical boyish reasons - the uniforms, cool guns and the glamourous side of it. As an adult I know there are a number of reasons the military are better off without me - I'm not great at staying awake or getting up early, sleeping outdoors or the other hardships and discipline that military life involves. These are of course qualities that one can learn on the job with proper dedication, so fair enough - it's no excuse. My deaf ear on the other hand is. While technically not a disability it precluded me from the physical requirements wh

Yeah I don't like the title either. On second look too the graphics are milky and dated and the map looks a little sparse on vegetation. the whole thing looks even pre-GR in graphics. I also noticed RTS style circles underfoot to mark friendlies....uugh! My prediction - and of course it's too early to tel - is that this will be a budget title that uses the platoon-sized AI team as nothing more than a gimmick. You'll find the team largeely have a mind of their own (when it comes to orders) and generally act as backup shooters to the player at best, bullet stoppers at worst. Just a hunch.

If pulled off right it could be a promising game. But without the brand name and marketing it's unlikely to be a GR killer in terms of sales. As to whether it is a better game of this type, is up in the air till release date. So many tacsims look promising in development and come out as just fun-filled run and gun shooters or clumsy exercises in AI management.

Just saw the trailer at Gamespot, and it looks sweeet. must say I'm more excited about this than GR2 because of the 'real-world' feel. Let's hope there's a demo soon...

Naaah I'm just itching for a modern warfare game as opposed to a 'near future' one. At present there's nothing out there for that (except maybe the upcoming Close Combat?)

This a group of currently serving discharged vets who havbe a mission to improve things for US service personnel and their families. There are some excellent stories here from the front lines to the home front. Updated regularly. Operation Truth It also has some of the most candid photos of the troops and Iraqis.

Is it possible to turn off the green foot-circles and other unit highlights? That bugged me in the demo and robbed authenticity.

I think the 173rd is a just just a PI regiment attached to a divsion (101st or 82nd perhaps?)

1 Token Black 2 Itchy 3 Vanilla Ice (So that's what happened to him!) 4 Kevin Bacon (he's just in everything!) 5 Scratchy 6 Prince Bandar Bin Sultan 7 McCaulay Culkin 8 Duke Nukem (couldn't wait for his own sequel)

Just as easy as IGOR. Dude I hope they come up with something MUCH easier than that!

I still don't like the spacesuit, the OICW or the camp-looking XM8. Looks like something out of Star Trek: "Set phasers to Gay!"
-
Okay the last movie of gameplay I saw was impressive and gave me hope. But I'm not 13, I'm 31, and have a few questions.... What's with the guy in the spacesuit with an OICW? Did they not know that project is scrapped or do they just want to steal players off HALO2? Decision on whether to implement the M8 is scheduled for this fall. I think th guys at Ubi are going to be laughingly behind the curve if the Army decides to scrap it. Introduction of the new ACU patten is slated for early next year. Surely in 5 years everyone will have it.... What's the date for the JTF to enter serv

Tyovan how come you want to emigrate? There's so much opportunity in the US compared to other countries and your taxes are lower. Wouldn't you rather just get a job overseas but remain America - or get a Job that takes you around the world for a US company? I've resolved to spend my youth away from Australasia because there are truly bertter opportunities and I like the international lifestyle. But of course I will one day go back...

7 out of 18; 4 were lucky guesses. Some of those sounds sure took me back though!

I remember when the RAM guns came out about 2 years ago - designed in Taiwan I think. The only thing I didn't like was the low rate of fire on auto (sounds like about 250rpm!) and the low clip capacity - the M4 banana clip only holds 30 Still it's as close to the real thing as you can get I guess. Do real SWAT and HRT units train with these?
-
It's not my forte but if you're not sure don't join. I know that sounds harsh but you don't marry without thinking it through, right? Listen to your parents who love you. Do what you think is right. If that means joining so be it. But please don't act rashly.

Just wait till you see what they've got in store for GR2: Mission #1 Hamburger Hill The Ghosts are sent to weed out a reinforced platoon of enemy troops guarding an AA battery set up in the carpark of a McDonalds atop a small rise. Mission #3 Flaming Lambourghini A Heineken truck has been hijacked and rigged with explosives. The Ghosts must ambush the convoy and destroy the truck before it can crash headlong into the local ExxonMobil station. Mission #6 Mocha Mayhem You guessed it. The enemy have set up a command post in a captured town at Starbucks. The commander must be execut
