  1. But seriously, I found this on HK's site. Head to head comparison Can anyone tell me what "burst memory" in 3rd burst means? Cook-off rate (240 vs 210)?
  2. This certainly looks like a deeper game - with better graphics, good animation and from what I saw, proper squad tactics. I was far more impressed with the few seconds of footage from BIA than with 10 minutes from the console version of GR2. Still, there could be a problem with the kind of scripted, linear missions endemic among WWII shooters...
  3. Well said Para. As a side note a couple of DJs in Oregon got their dumb selves fired for joking about Berg's beheading. Man that is a low thing to do: Read it Here
  4. I believe the stupid actions of the guards at Abu Ghraib certainly contributed to Berg's death, but let's face it, that Al Zarqawi guy is one of UBL's top thugs and was looking for excuses anyway. Sooner or later something like this was bound to happen. I also believe that it was a failure of policy that brought those guards and al Qaeda and Nick Berg to Iraq in the first place. There's a clear chain reaction here. I don't think I'd have the stomach to watch it, but it serves as a good reminder to what kind of animals (al Qaeda) we're up against, and the type of brutality they're capab
  5. Troy....thomething about men in thkirts.... I saw Hero Christmas 2002 in HK no less. It's not a martial arts movie so much as a semi-historical drama. I don't think you'll enjoy it much. The theme is kind of like Gladiator (one man against the emperor) but there is much less action. Unless Jet Li has another movie called Hero out.
  6. You mean just to keep duct tape somewhere handy in case they need the tape for something? Good idea if so.
  7. He's hiding the rest of the squad in his pockets.
  8. Fact remains some like it and others don't. Some will play in 3rd person sometimes and 1st person when the mood takes them. The option should be there. I can't believe how so few developers ahve learned to accomodate a wide variety of tastes. Buggy as it was, I recall H&D had 3rd psn, 1st psn, rets and iron sights and you could juggle these options if you wished. Some more recent games (RvS?) let you toggle 1st psn weapon picture. Just give us a freakin' choice and we'll all be happy. It's not that hard.
  9. I believe it will be on time. That game video - as horrible as it was - looked like a near finished product to me. My guess is they just have to put in more level design time or something, but I bet the code and most gameplay tweaks are already sorted.
  10. I think the XM8 is fugly, but I guess they had to trade up sooner or later. What will the Marines be using in 5 years?
  11. From what I've seen, GR2 seems to offer fewer choices; more restrictive kit selection, smaller team, more scripted, run and gun missions. PC gamers like more choices not fewer. Unfortunatley consoles are where the big bucks are and PC versions - especially at big companies like Ubi or EA and even Lucasarts - are becoming an afterthought. In order to set the record straight I went all the way to the top. Here's what Donald Rumsfled had to say: "Is GR2 dumbed down? Sure. Are Ubi more concerned about consolers? You bet. Does this mean that more good games will go over to younger audienc
  12. Don't hold back there Stalker; tell us how you really feel...
  13. Yeah me too on the perspective - gotta have 1st person! Questions: How does kit selection work? Is the point and click orders system like the upcoming Brothers in Arms (which looks fantastic BTW)? How many people on the team? How to select them?
  14. I agree with WK on the arcade feel. It smacks of DFBHD in the speed and pace of the missions. At least the enemy can't shoot as well as before. It also looks like there isn't much 'recon' in Ghost Recon. Stealth won't help much on that map anyway - it's chaos! Looks playable and fun (the sheer level of carnage is a blast) but in its present state, it ain't fit to carry the franchise onto PC. Definitely a consoler's game....
  15. Yeah just a few bad seeds messing it up for everyone. The problem doesn't go much farther I'd bet. Just wish Rummy would be a man and take the heat since it happened on his watch. Doesn't really matter as the damage is already done.
  16. I had to go to Bangkok for the final interview. If I get a yes (about 4 weeks) then I'll be off to Dubai in early July.

As anyone heard of the Japanese style 'Futstsu no senaka no dobutsu' ? That's my style...
  18. According to the sex test I'm STILL a virgin. Damn that was one heck of a dream!
  19. Steel Magnolias Waiting to Exhale Fried Green Tomatoes Driving Miss Daisy The Scent of Green Papaya ...what?
  20. I guess it was like that kewl. The book descibes it as an m14 with a sniper scope I think. Doesn't specify what kind of scope or whether it was the sniper only m21.
  21. The only 'conspiracy' was the administration putting off doing anything about it until the media blew the lid off. I'm sure they'd loved to have had a few low profile courts martial then swept it all under the rug without addressing the real problems. Just a big snafu is all. No real conspiracy to speak of.
  22. I always go with bright yellow feathers and green spots. You can stash your seed husks under the wings and the spots will camouflage you very well against various patterns of wallpaper.
  23. As far as I recall, Shugart had a standard M-14 with some kinda sniper scope and Gordon had a car-15 with a supressor and reflex or cheapo scope. But I dunno where else to get pics...
  24. I should apologize here - to Argyll - because I invited him in and this has turned a little ugly. I think the use of the term mercenary here opens some sore spots because contractors object to it. Fair enough. While the term can be broadly applied to 'hired guns' (including bodyguards) and 'sell-swords' of old, it also gets a bum rap. Todays contractors certainly wouldn't like to be lumped in with the type of bandits you get in Africa and other places who really do fight for anyone, regardless of the cause. That is what the term mercenary has come tio mean. After all we use it as an ad
