  1. My Grandfather was wounded fighting in Burma and I am eternally grateful to the 'Greatest Generation' for fighting for our freedom - not just mine; these people truly saved the whole world from tyranny and oppression. May they all rest in Peace.
  2. I think it's time to give up on TF2. Over the past four years every other MP shooter (BF: series, Joint Ops, GR and AA) have done everything and more that TF2 was supposed to have done. I take BIA as a sign that Gearbox are moving on. As a replacement for GR2 there's one big difference - it's set 60 years ago. If it works out and they put out a modern war version as well, then it could be all that...
  3. Trust me Soup, nobody here is forgetting about you guys and you're on the news every night. Every country involved prays for its troops and my thoughts are with you all. Safe return, bro...
  4. This is killing me. If I get the new job, I'm rewarding myself with this game. Heck, I'll only have time for one game, and this should be it!
  5. I've noticed a lot of noobs come on lately and with it an increase in hostile behaviour. Just saw the thread Jammo got locked in GR2 Console discussions. Has anyone else noticed an upsurge in new members with attitude problems? I only say this because since politics was banned, things had been awfully civil until recently.
  6. The user requirements look like a bigger issue: Age: 12 IQ : 68 Itchy trigger finger Expert at circle-strafing One man army Not bothered by repetition Easily fooled by scripting 'twists' Unable to think for self It just doesn't look like the same game anymore...
  7. Yeah, when I look at that E3 video the games that spring to mind are DF:BHD and MOHAA in SP mode: highly scripted, fast and furious, all-action gameplay. It just looks like a different game concept altogether - a radical departure Compiling everything that we posted in various wishlists on these forums over the last 18 months, it's fair to say that they couldn't implement everything. But overall the requests were for the same game, with new additions/options/tweaks and upgrades. I don't recall anyone saying "I'd like GR to be faster, stupider and more mainstream - just like Conflict: Dese
  8. I downloaded the demo from Fileplanet and got the most laggy, pixellated crap I've seen in years. Considering my machine can actually run Far Cry at med-high specs it must be a hardware compatibility problem. But since I can max out everything on DF:BHD as well and JO uses the same engine, what gives?
  9. That's their answer to the demands of the existing fanbase...
  10. GR1 updated and improved seemed like a no brainer a month ago, but now that dream seems so far away. The average age of GR players will certainly drop...
  11. I remember that movie Snatch with Brad Pitt as a 'Pikey' but what does it mean exactly - Irish or Gyspsy or both?
  12. Yeah but did you keep the pictures?
  13. Gordo or Dekela: Do the enemy need a lot of scripting or will they basically uses common sense when told to guard or patrol or attack? What kind of procedure (for those iof us not familiar with OFP) is involved for placing actors, objects, vehicles, objectives? How long does it take to slap together a half decent SP mission?
  14. I did and I do Soup. Please come back to us in one piece mate. You'll always be one of our heroes.
  15. Nice Pics, dude. Hope you and your buddies are doing alright there mate. I wish you all a safe return.
  16. This is the game that GR and TacSim fans have been screaming for. I can't believe that the developers are witholding such hot property with a prohibitive price and for you Yanks, limited distribution channels. I'm sure it's only so expensive because it is being marketed as a hardcore simulation to a small group of users (militaries and military buffs). But like the word or not, in the hands of gamers and modders, this will be used and played as a a game. It has that entertainment value written all over it. They could mass market this sucker and drop the price to reasonable game levels
  17. Well there's kinduva rule about making fun of guys here too. Stay civil and you won't be kicked off here. BTW I agree with Jammo on the scopes. A more genuine simulation of aiming would suit the game fine Of course I add the caveat that it should be optional. It's not hard to please everybody when they've posted what they want on a doezen forums: Ubi just has to add the OPTIONS.
  18. Said it before and I'll say it again - I like the limited FPWV as in Vietcong and Call Of Duty and to raise the Iron sights/scope in a somewhat limited, less than realistic impression of actual aiming. This of course should be optional and come with the Reticle Off option too. For my tastes this strikes the best balance between being able to see the cool weapon you've selected and slightly more realistic representation of aiming. For the record I'm no real fan of the screen-hogging Iron sights in America's Army or Hidden and Dangerous. These might represent a closer version of what th
  19. And it's a black day when the GR franchise starts following other games in the pack like SOCOM and Conflict: Desert Storm...

    Light Bulb Jokes

How many feminists does it take to change a lightbulb? Four - one to screw in the lighbulb and three to form a support group. How many body builders does it take? Three - one to change the bulb and two buddies to stand there and tell him how big he looks. WA Wa wa waaaa...
  21. I like the look of their new Marine Corps squad shooter....if they can pull it off. With regards to having only a four man fire team to control, I can dig it, as long as we're part of a larger platoon. An interesting twist would be playing the part of a Gunny or Staff Sergeant and following your Lt or Captain's orders, using your fire team to carry out part of a wider role in the platoon. That would be cool. But if I'm going on the kind of deep-behind-enemy lines commando raids seen in GR, I'd like to have 6-8 guys and be able to split them up effectively. I wait with baited breat
  22. Basically it's always been a case of subjectivity. Ask different people and you'll get different answers. These days a TacSim seems to cover any military-themed shooter that depicts images of real weapons and uniforms, regardless of the actual level of realism in the game. Read the reviews and decide which ones are best for you, but for the forseeable future, the variety of 'TacSims' will only get wider. So will the interpretations.
  23. We are still here because as longtime fans who have played, enjoyed and modded the game, we feel we have a vested interest in the product and there is a lot of concern that from the 70% build we've seen a lot of us are concerned that the sequel will be too different from the original. See that little number next to "Posts" under our names? Count 'em kiddo.
  24. If this Bergis guy is not an actor he is a classic study in right wing paranoia. He fits the stereotype so perfectly I suspect this is entirely staged - wife, kids and all. However if he really exists, I'm not surprised he gets wound up: these calls confirm his worst fears: In his world polite society is in danger of being overrun by gays and Jews and black people. His privacy is beseiged by constant monitoring by telemarketers and his number is impossible to erase from phone lists. His decent church-going sensibilities are threatened by 'fag' liberals and democrats. I realise a lot
  25. Well I for one am pleased I won't be forced top play in 3ps
