Using the older original CD of GR got it working. Very weird since I installed it using the other newer disc.
This quote alone proves my theory. I think something got mixed up somewhere and they provided CDs that patched 1.4 games can't detect.
I've got the same problem as Reignman40. I bought the Gold Edition. I installed DS and IT after I installed [GR]. The game runs fine after I install everything. It shows I have v1.3.5. BUT! Every time I install patch 1.4, the game won't run. It keeps popping up this "Can't locate CD-ROM" window, which says something along the lines of "Please insert the Original CD and restart the application."
I've tried inserting all three CDs ([GR], IT, and DS). The result is the same. The patched 1.4 game can't seem to locate the CD.
It's as if it's looking for another game, which is by the way, validated by Reignman40's comment about how inserting his older disc solves the problem.
I don't have an "older disc."
Is there a solution to this?
All the other "patch 1.4" threads I see scattered about here and on other GR sites end up with the OP saying I just installed a [Thing that should not be spoken of here] and it solved the problem. However, I don't want to do that because I bought this game.
