  1. Havent seen you in any games lately Rahn. Hope everything is ok....

  2. Really handy link ROCO AFZ. A lot of good appliances are built on free bsd or a derivative of linux. Cisco as well as other companies offer appliances along these lines only more glorified due to their high cost but untangle looks really good. Even the lite version comes with enough software to offer more than adequate protection for home or office. Thanks for sharing the link....
  3. There are a lot of players out there that feel because they purchased the game they have the right to dictate what should or shouldn't happen on a server. Myself, I usually find it easier to remind them that purchasing the game only grants them permission to play the game and the servers are not funded in any way by the cost of their game purchase. I've been abused once or twice at the most for passing this message on but to date, I still haven't lost any sleep over it...
  4. You mean the non violent, non aggressive, non lack of frustration approach. I have read other topics in this forum where that approach actually works, much to my surprise. Even I would never have contemplated putting an electrostatic device in water to clean it with the intention of re using it. lolz.. I was only cleaning the dust out because I didn't want my computer man to have to work on a grubby computer. My intention wasn't to fix it, just to get it ready for someone else to fix.....
  5. I went to turn my PC on this morning and it would power up but before it would even show any bios screen it turned itself off. It did this several times and I was beginning to think the power supply might be the cause. So I unplug everything ready to take it to my local computer shop but before i do I take the lid off to give it a clean. Computers seem to pick up dust better than a vacuum cleaner. Anyway after removing the dust from fans using an old makeup brush I plug a power lead only in and press the button. Amazing, the darn thing is booting. I shut it down, put it back on my desk, connect all the leads, press the button and,,,, same as before, it shuts down almost straight away. Something isnt right so I start unplugging cabled one by one to see which device or cable is causing this. To my surprise removing the cat5 network cable allowed my pc to start and run normally. This cable hasnt been disturbed in months and its not pinched or in poor condition so I cant figure why it worked fine 8 hours ago and now its not. To test the cable, I plugged it into my work laptop, (doesn't matter if it wrecks my laptop), but that worked perfectly well. I put the cable back in my pc and it boots just fine like nothing had happened. i do keep spare cat5 cable just in case this happens again but i never would have thought that even a faulty cat5 cable could prevent a computer from powering on, I could understand if the network failed to initialize properly. I'll be taking better care of leads and keeping new replacements from now on just in case other leads fail and cause similar symptoms.
  6. Big. I too have used it many times to modify partition(s), saves reinstalling and starting from scratch. i also know some other people that keep the software on a memory stick for emergencies.
  7. Get parted is a nix based disk partitioning application thats free. Partitions supported are huge and partitions can be resized without losing data. http://gparted.sourceforge.net/ If you get tired of the limitations in partition magic, try get parted. Also includes a host of other tools for fixing moving and copying data. Boots from cd.
  8. After a really reliable and highly configurable router thas free and includes updates and add on modules. http://www.pfsense.org/ pfsense open source firewall is based on free bsd and can be installed on a pc containing 2 or more nics. I used to use a hardware router but pfsense offers so much more configuration options and far better rule, port and protocol management. Anyone with a spare pc i suggest trying it.
  9. You cant control ping. Ping is the amount of time it takes a packet of data to do a round trip. There are many factors that can cause ping to be high or low, server load and network load are only 2.
  10. for testing purposes only, make sure your windows firewall is off as well as your router firewall. i have seen a few people having trouble playing games and remaining connected to servers who use wireless networking. I dont use it myself so perhaps someone else can shed light if this is the issue.
  11. GRAW2 match statistics software displays your servers game statistics as web page. You simply upload your game_info.xml file via your web browser to generate match, player and weapon details. Features Displays system wide player info as summary Displays weapon detail used per player Displays maps/matches played per player and other players that attended that match Displays system wide weapon details, which maps the weapon has been used in and statistical kill information Displays detailed match information Easy to install Requirements Web server running PHP 3, 4 or 5 mySQL Additional Info Tested on co-op servers but should also work for DM games as well. Any comments or suggestions are welcome. Screenshot Preview http://www.ja-net.com.au/stats Download Current Release is ver 2.0
  12. yes graw2 will load the next map in rotation if all players exit part way through.
  13. No. The server will always advance to the next map or reload the same map but you cant all take a sleep break then resume your game.
  14. No but im working on stats where you can upload your match_info.xml files....
  15. i have a small problem with game log files created by graw2 dedicated servers. Graw2 dedicated servers create a match_info.xml file after each match played which records details and statistics about the game. After taking a closer look at the file(s) created I noticed that there is an error in this file. Where the file lists the map name, it uses the name of the map thats next to play, not the map that was just played. eg Your server has 4 maps - map1, map2, map3 and map4. You play map1 with friends and after the game, check the match_info.xml file and it records the game but for map2 not map1. For some reason which im hoping people here can help me with, the server records the stats with the name of the next map in rotation, not the map just played. Reason im asking for this assistance is im building a web site to read these files and database the stats when i noticed this discrepancy. I have tested this on 2 dedicated servers and both do the same thing in the match_info.xml file. Has anyone else noticed this..?? Is there a fix such as a configuration option..?? Should I just not bother recording map information from these files..??
  16. Played it, love it, got killed a lot. No bugs to report. Great mission as always. Thanks TC02....
  17. Played a multiplayer mission. Found no problems with mission, everything ran smoothly. The objectives are well laid out. Another fine mission John, well done....!!
  18. Played in multiplayer mode. Although difficult in spots I can report no lumps, bumps or server crashes. Yet another fine mission John.....
  19. Great map John. Played multiplayer mode and everything executed well. Really well laid out mission. Congrats on another fine map....
  20. The map plays very well and the objectives are laid out very well. No bugs found, player respawn is good, enemy spawn is good. Tested using Rahnmanns weapon mod 2.5. Really well done John. Will play it a few more times to see if any bugs stand out or occur....
  21. Great map. Played it in multi player mode and saw no ill effects that interupt game play. The tank and helis all work well, (they killed me several times), and saw no enemy spawning into wierd places like rocks or walls. Great job on this map, mission is really well laid out....
  22. progress is a good thing. Thanks to gamespy my game doesnt crash anymore, I cant stay connected long enough for that to happen. Whatever technical problem gamespy is having, they will eventually sort it out.....
  23. So far this map looks good and works great. Unfortunately, at the moment gamespy appears to be acting up causing disconnection from the server ever few minutes so its a lil hard to finish a complete map. The map map though so far, everything appears to be ok...
