thx for replying guys. both of you are correct. Both aspects of game play are needed. However, there is an assumption being made and it's something the "open world" scenario might solve better than a regular campaign. The whole idea behind an open world is to introduce new scenarios as well as keeping a story line. Anotherwords, I've always wanted some same targets/places to hit but have different enemy reactions/placements or new story arcs downloaded that changed the storyline because once you've played a story, you want it to change. The idea of an open world is to introduce "freedom" and that freedom to me consists of: 1. updated/modified story arcs just like what can and is done w/the PC gam platform. This is where old campaigns ARE used because there are guys out there mod'ing the old campaigns and releasing to the community their mod'ed versions 2. Those mod'ed campaigns need to be released as DLCs for xbox, ps4 platforms, too. 3. Allow Ghost Squad Lead to FINALLY again be able to chose the TEAM!!! whether PvP or Campaign 4. Destrcutable environment 5. weapon mods 6. character advancement 7. team perks For Longeity, yes, PvP is needed as campaigns that can be mod'ed but also, NEW scenarios/missions that are released that account for past mission accomplishments. That's Key and NO ONE else is doing that. No One. If you add a couple of basic concepts as: logistics and diplomacy, things can get interesting and TOTALLY Unique. Imagine this: In a PvP, there are just so many resources, so many teams. If the current mission has 2 or more teams also functioning at the same time to accompish other missions in a story arc, then Ghost Leads must plan missions with material and manpower limits. In addition to that, when "in the field" resources are what a team has or can acquire. Then add infiltration and extraction as part of the planning of a mission and you have a much more real and broader GR. As for the politics/diplomacy, it is possible to craft missions that only succeed with diplomacy and alter the story arc if those missions fail. In Campaign mode, the same goes but the game would have to track (and pre-randomly allocated) resources and personal before a mission is "released for execution." This type of apporach to Open World Gaming would revolutionize the concept, which GR can do, and would mark GR as a squad based game like no other. Imagine, playing a mission over and over whether in PvP or Solo Campaign and realizing that Enemy and Ally resources, personal and behavior are different every time you play that mission? I have no idea how to get these kinds of ideas to Ubisoft but all of them are totally possible.

I have to agree with you AI, GRAW and GRAW2 command interface were lacking and I hoped that Ubi would really improve that in their next releases of GR but they dropped it all-together to follow instead of leading the way! They followed BattleField and possibly COD when instead they had a market lead in that feature because NO ONE else was doing anything even close. The commands actually directed a group to deliver a "flavor" of commanding a team, which I deeply deeply miss. I love "squad-based" shooters where you direct and lead the squad! So, I too, hope that Ubi France has grown up and actually listened to what we fans are saying, though I am sckeptical. At least the open world aspect will get us out of that stupid BF3 or other shooter box where we must play the Rat in the Maze game! FINALLY! O, thx for the comment thales100! haha glad you liked my post.

Hey Rocky , it is a pleasure, new GR and i am back, hope they release something really great for us, old fans. Agreed thales100!! Agreed. I've been waiting for an open world version of GR because I'm sick of being the rat running through a chosen maze!! Future Soldier would have been greater had it been open world. I'm hoping for the following: 1. chose team 2. chose teams weapons/classes!! (like Old GR) 3. completely destructible environment Now all we need is GR: AW2 team comms and control/order system and we're back in business. I am very happy that UbiSoft is finally hearing the fans, though. The closed boxes that they put us in since they took over GR have really hurt the name and made the GR series feel like a simple shooter w/glitz and glamour but no real heart. This time, it appears that we finally have a portion of the old GR back: we can accomplish a mission our way and go anywhere! About time!

PC Hardware needed to play GR
aragorn777 replied to aragorn777's topic in GR:FS (PC) - General Discussion
Hey guys, I was posting a question bout what type of box to run GRFS on and it turns out that other versions of GR will also run on it that twcrash outlined a few posts back. I'm trying to find a "least" expensive but reasonally fast gaming rig that works fro GRFS as well as the other mods to GR, specifically GRAW 2. The Mods that I keep seeing posted here would breath new life into GR for me as I only have GR for Xbox - GRAW, GRAW2, GRFS - and the thing that bugs me is the "forced" story line along with the lack of flexibility in personal and equipment. GRFS completely lost touch with the GR original basis of development and followed BF3, in my opinion but I love GR and want to play the MODs because they get back to the fundamentals. -

hey twcrash, thx for your load-out. preciate it. this gives me something I can actually bite off w/o breaking the bank. Zeealex, thx for the note on AMDs. If I purchase inexpensively w/AMD, then it's no big loss to start out with. It's the small form-factor that I'm shooting for and one that has an HDMI out so I can pump video/audio through my stereo system. twcrash, have you played graw2 and GRFS on the setup you outlined?? -
Old school OGR'er gives GR:FS a try.
aragorn777 replied to Poita's topic in GR:FS (PC) - General Discussion
hear hear, I agree, GRFS was such a let down for me too. I honestly don't understand why the markeeters and execs @ Ubi when the path they went - less development, no open terrain, NO ability to drive the mission when in-mission, and Forced to use a meager supply of weapons depending what what you've unlocked. Does Ubi really listen to it's fan base?? We never asked for a Battlefield X rip-off but a true sequal to GRAW2 with more intelligent enemies, better randomized enemy movement, not so much Hollywood story-line crap, clean interface with the ability to use tech or go non-tech if you so choose and the ability to actually outfit your fire-team according to a GOOD description of the mission. So, GRFS was a HUGE let down for me and I only bought the xbox version. So, I'm looking for a way to play all the mods I find here - and some fellow ghosts pointed me in the right direction do to just that. Well, then along comes Takedown: Red Saber: http://serellan.com/ And yes, by a former Ghost Recon developer at that! Christian Allen and it is what GR should be....in my opinion. It's now on xbox live play, too. Pretty sweet game. I just wish Ubi had some sense and actually took the time to develop a real game instead of all the hype and eye candy which NONE of us wanted. That's not GR. -
PC Hardware needed to play GR

16 core AMD, why have I not heard of this?! It's the AMD FX 6300 I've experience bad framerates with, and an AMD radeon HD 7850, it runs Arma 3 on very high/ultra settings FLAWLESSLY, but GRFS can't squeeze out more than 24 FPS Hey Zeealex, here's the link: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/amd-opteron-6300-warsaw-cpu,25832.html and INTEL is playing catch-up haha http://techreport.com/news/26056/intel-releases-15-core-xeon-e7-v2-processor BTW, you're the 1st Lady Ghost I've met. Nice ta meet-cha. Yeah, I noticed that between PS3 and Xbox 360, the PS3 had serious frame issues w/GRAW 2 but XBOX didn't. Had NO idea that GRFS exhibited the same problems on non-intel chips. Check this: http://www.amd.com/en-us/products/server/opteron/6000/6300 It appears that the 6300 line has "upgrades" and the 6308 quad core is 3.5GHZ. Where you using a lower speed chip from AMD? That chip line "seems" pretty good especially when coupled w/DDR3 memory. Also, GRFS or GRAW2, I've NOoooo idea what they're using for the physics engine and how processor intensive it is so the Graphics Card could play a huge role if Ubi is off-loading all the physics calcs to the graphics card. But I also noticed that the L2 cache is ... pretty low. And I just noticed that the 6300 you mentioned...it's a server grade processor and GRFS smoked it?? wow! And the machine pointman outlined....pretty dang awesome!!! Thx pointman! O, & here's info on the graphics card pointman likes. Pretty freak'n sweet: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125463 -
PC Hardware needed to play GR
aragorn777 replied to aragorn777's topic in GR:FS (PC) - General Discussion
Thx everyone for all the input!! This is awesome! Yeah, I would like to play old GR for sure but also FS and really the mods that I see on this site more than anything else because I keep seeing cool mods posted and wonder how can I play this stuff, especially on a real team. Blame, I like your outline for a gaming rig, no question. And I"ve got a projector for a screen plus and hdmi hook-up through my stereo system. Just need a machine that is a small form-factor so it fits in my entertainment rack. Sorry for not responding sooner but I really appreciate all the input. I had NO idea that GR would tank AMD processors. However, AMD has come out w/the 16core processors, now, too. Which AMD processors tank?? As for which forum, well, didn't rightly know what was the best place to post this. I've got FS for xbox and really really want more than what's offered through a gaming rig. For the online stuff, is there a "steam" engine or something where we login and play?? Honestly, never done that and don't know what to expect for being in a "clan" or fire-team, whatever the jargon is, but what I think keeps GR alive are the dedicated folks who make the mods for the PC game. Just wish Ubi would take SERIOUS note and follow up with the real GR instead of Battlefield rip-offs. Ahhh ranting... anyway, my goal is to definitely play the mods with a team. -
Hey everyone, would you mind giving me some good advice on what hardware to purchase to run GR so that I am play over the net all the mods that I keep seeing being produced here? I've got a 360 but I'd really like to play the REAL Ghost Recon and just need to know the pc hardware that works best. Thanks so much!!! Long Live Ghost Recon!!!

Im looking for a friendly clan.
aragorn777 replied to jomar's topic in GR:FS Console Clans and Ladders
Stupid question but gotta ask: do we have to "purchase" Xbox Live to play with others on xbox? Sorry, I just don't know. Thx man -
Thx Zeealex, your reply is much appreciated. Sorry been sooooo long for a reply but... life's been hard. I used to have an account w/ the ubi forums but was wondering if the FB page was a better way to get ideas through to them. I just didn't know what "forums" they actually listen to. Yeah, Kimi was AWESOME! She actually showed some concern for our ideas & such. Dang shame she left. I feel your pain in seeing ubi not really paying attention to us fans (especially the loooooooong timers.) I'll keep trying through. see y'all & thx again for replying to my question. Much appreciated.

Hey all. Need to know what's the best way to get Ubisoft's attention. Fb, forums, etc... I'd like my voice heard with them concerning GRFS and not sure of best way to communicate with them. Thanks all!

Hey Warrebel, never been on a clan, but it sounds kool. What do you do?

Warmongers Inc - coded messages
aragorn777 replied to Thibault's topic in GR:FS (PC) - General Discussion
Yo, anyone got a uname & pwd to the Warmongers Inc we can use to access the pics? I will not put in more info -uname & pwd- for yet another site. Is it permissible to just post his stuff here? -
Just watched #3 & didn't see a post line in the news feed for it. So, i'll post here. UBI, class A work. I was really concerned w/the TEAM aspect of GR because that's what Ghost Recon is ALL ABOUT! TEAM & the MISSION. Technology later! Ubi, you stepped it up: destructible terrain, excellent intell gathering, cover-system, simple, believable multipurpose drones, believable team work, good communicaiton between team members, decently acceptable optical camo for a game and now I see the use of Gun Smith, which at first sight, I thought was super stupid, now it makes sense as long as its use is actually important for real game play. On-Line, I hope your scoring system ranks players on how well they play as a team and totally trashes Lone Range tactics. PERIOD! TEAM OR DIE. UBI, you set yourself up for MORE GR:Future Recon add-on packs and missions with this system. This shooter is what we've all been waiting for and the wait these past years has been worth it. You've really out-shined your competition, bided your time and release GR:FS at the right time. Thank you. And GR Fans who kept the faith, my hat's off to you, too.
-
Freak'n beautiful and Done RIGHT!!!!!! We who kept the faith & defended UBI about bring out a good shooter and something to be proud of. They kept it real, they kept it exciting, and not too flashy. It's GHOST RECON.

Freak'n sweet! Thank you UBI.

Ubi DRM games to be unplayable
aragorn777 replied to CR6's topic in The Video Gaming Industry Discussion
UBI!!! Wake the HELL up! DRMs is stupid. So, be intelligent and provide a better security that other companies already use to show support & trust of their TRUE FAN BASE! And we fans are pretty D**** good @ ragging "rag heads" for stealing our precious game! TRUST YOUR FANS UBI. -
Ubisoft DRM Targets Hardware Upgrades
aragorn777 replied to CR6's topic in The Video Gaming Industry Discussion
DRMs are stupid UBI! Haven't you learned that yet? Keep is Simple Sir, is the Ghost motto for success. Yes, your software is valuable but PLEEEEEAAAAASSSSEEEEE stop being invasive! And learn how to provide good protection for your investment- BUILD KICK-BUTT GAMES! at affordable prices and MORE people will buy it than steal it! Plus provide good simple password protection. Enough said. -
facebook page telling Ubi what we want.
aragorn777 posted a topic in GR:FS (PC) - General Discussion
Hey all, I've started a topic on facebook (FB) titled GR: The definition under the ubi soft official Ghost Recon page under their discussions board. You're welcome to join me in yet another discussion on UBI's FB page to bug the crap out of them to get what we want. Ghost Recon in FB -
I truly hope UBI has learned that the Mission is more important than the Gun Bling, that squad-based tactics is more important that Lone Wolf tactics and that we fans really do know what makes GR, GR. Future Soldier or not. I definitely intend to post on FB FS site as I think UBI pays more attention to folks who visit their FB page than their forums. I encourage ALL GR fans to keep posting GR "want to see" lists on the Facebook(FB) page of Future Solider. Ubi has changed tunes many times before releasing this one and I'm really happy that they ARE paying attention to hard core GR fans. So lets keep the dialog going!

A challenge [to GR players]

Beautiful Work, Lightspeed. I just viewed the demo/trailer and I'm really impressed. I've no idea how you did this but now I've got to buy a PC so that I can play GR - the real GR and not on the XBOX. haha Thanks GR community for supporting him and for supporting GR. You guys are awesome.
