First welcome to the forums silko

I dunno how is it with support on 64 bit OS and 3dsm but i can tell you that you cant install (at least version 5 of max) on windows 7. You can install XP mode on windows 7 and install it there http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/features/windows-xp-mode.aspx but sadly you'll need at least professional version of windows 7.
2nd option is to install 3rd party virtual machine, install windows XP there and run it. But for that IIRC your computer has to have a processor that supports Hyper-threading.
3rd option is just to model and texture in 3dsm 2010, export to .3ds format and find someone here who is willing to import it to 3dsm 3,4 or 5 and export the map for GR.
Maybe there is some other option but this is all that came to my mind at the moment.
Good luck and i hope you can work something out.

I think (at least what i know) there is no such converter that would do that so yes, you need to redo everything from scratch.
But that's the whole point of modding, at least for me

First welcome to the forums

You will need 3d studio max from Autodesk (version 5 is the latest that supports GR) for creating geometry, Photoshop or any imaging software that supports RSB plugin for creating textures, a lot of reference screenshots of de_dust2 map (de_dust is already converted and located in downloads) and a lot of free time, patience to learn the programs if you are new to them, creativity and did i mention free time?

Start with basic tutorials located on this site and use the forum's search function before you ask. All about map making is here. Sometimes hidden and covered with dust on these boards but it's here

Good luck

It's been less than three weeks since Activision's "Call of Duty: Black Ops" went on sale. The game quickly broke entertainment sales records, with worldwide revenue of US$650 million during its first five days in stores. The game's online component is wildly popular, with hundreds of thousands of players simultaneously logged in to battle each other, and is creating some big numbers of its own.On Saturday an in-game counter noted that the cumulative number of kills in the game has surpassed the planet's real-world population, which stands at about 6.9 billion, according to a U.S. Census Bureau estimate.
Those deaths were largely as a result of gun shots. An amazing 138 billion shots have been fired in the game, and a disturbing -- or successful, depending on your point of view -- 561 million have been instant-killing headshots. About 51 million headshots have been delivered execution-style, while a player was alive but lying wounded.
While guns rule the "Call of Duty" universe, there are also many other ways to kill opposing players.
Frag grenades are a popular tool of destruction and 527,936 tons of them have been thrown so far, along with 50,782 tons of C4 plastic explosive. To put those numbers in perspective, the Eiffel Tower's all-iron structure weighs 10,000 tons.
Some other stats:
If all the crossbows fired in the game were lined up end-to-end they'd stretch 144,501 miles, which is more than half of the way to the moon.
More than 65 million deaths came as the result of a player's own mistake.
Players have collectively fallen the equivalent height of Mount Everest 828,118 times.
Staying too long in one position has proved deadly for 79 million players who were stabbed in the back.
In-game spending has reached the equivalent of 233 percent of the GDP (gross domestic product) of Ireland in U.S. dollars.
Racking up such death and destruction has been a workout for in-game characters, even if their real-life controllers haven't left their armchairs. Players have collectively run around the world 14,837 times, according to the in-game counters.
And if all that isn't impressive enough, consider this: gamers have cumulatively spent more than 8,000 years playing "Call of Duty: Black Ops" online.

Very impressive numbers

A couple of times recently when I press the power switch nothing happens, nothing at all. Inside the case, a small mobo green light is still on though.
So far, flicking the PSU switch at the rear is enough to make it start working again.

Happened to me a lot of times. Sometimes comes to small electrical shocks and charges in electrical network and makes PSU overloaded. The only solution is switching PSU on/off or pull the cord out and press on PSU switch to discharge it.
For me it stopped when i bought UPS battery but it's not necessarily that you have same problem

+1

I've been waiting for a D90 replacement for a long long time. I borrowed a D5000 for a summer vacation and totally loved the power of DSLR over compacts and I'm going for D7000 in a couple of months when price drops a bit.
Now I just need to convince my girlfriend that this is it!

I'm having problem with multi-sub object texturing. It supposed to be supported but i cant get it to work in GR. All renders fine in 3dsm but in game i get grey walls. I used rsb that are properlly tagged and all so textures shouldn't be a problem.
All I get is difuse color from 1st channel and thats it. All other difuse on different channels are grey. If there was texture missing, then IMO walls would be white but not in my case.
Any clue?

After returning back to GR after some years, i decided to make a map to return something to the community

The map will be big, woodland style with old industrial complex in the middle. So far i'm moddeling varius buldings and props. Some will be enterable and some not.
I have no name yet but that is the last thing on my list.
Stay tuned for more updates...

Nice! I'm interested in level modelling. Do You have more details about it?

Are You guys still in buisness? After returning to GR, I started something in spare time and would need some help with mission after I'm done.
