Impressive shots Hammer. These creatures are amazing. I'm using it to scare my girlfriend Got new lens and I love the performance of this Nikkor. Got to learn a bit more while handling with it. One thing that bothers me is when focused to minimum distance is metering. It gets way off and overexposed so some trial and error was needed but sharpness is amazing! Here are some first examples. Well i have no problems with underexposed pictures, more with overexposed pictures but that is a problem solved with one press of a button and a turn of command wheel. This only applies for JPEG but if you shoot in RAW you can correct almost all problems in post-process. Once you learn how to check histogram you're all set And don't worry if you are slightly off with thirds. It's a thing that's easy to fix in a post-process.

Good news Hammer. It's gotta be painful to wait. @Zee: I cropped you that first photo and i hope you don't mind. Just to show you proper use of rule of thirds. Edit: one reminder about rule of thirds, sometimes you just can't follow it and you need to break it. Happens a lot of time to all of us so don't worry about it. It's a good rule though that makes you frame your subject to one of that 4 points for a strong composition.

Well since I'm on Nikon i can recommend one over Canon any day hehe...joke It really depends what you want. Any brand is good. With some you can attach more lenses like old manual focus lenses and some are really good in sense of build quality, sharpnes and picture IQ. Also one thing that is important is what brand your friends (if they shoot with DSLR) are using. That way you can borrow lenses so you can try them before you buy them. Last thing is that picture makes the person behind the camera. Don't think that if you buy a 5000$ Nikon D3S camera, you will have instant impressive

Thx Snow. Was a lot of action so it wasn't too hard to get one. With flowers you could try with focus stacking. Check google for more. With extension tubes you will get extreme close-ups if you stack too much of them together so check on google what is best combination for your lens. Usually it depends on focal lenght of a lens. Oh and dont forget that you will loose light with adding tubes so dont forget about proper lighting for subject.

Tinker thought that you need placeable map models, tagged as vehicle so you can put anywhere on the map. That way you can customize original/custom made maps without having their original 3d studio max files. Topic title should be "Looking for map maker" or similar.
