Crashing when selecting Semi-Auto
JohnTC02 replied to Ham_Chu's topic in GR:AW 2 (PC) - Tech Support
Hi Ham_Chu, Welcome to the forums and a great first post. From what you are describing this sounds like the well known "Z" bug, when you try to change your rate of fire this will cause the crash you are experiencing. There is nothing wrong with your PC it's just a bug in the game, it usually appears after you have been killed 8 or 9 times but if you are unlucky it can happen before this as I have found out to my cost. There is no fix for this so the best thing to do is change the function of the Z key to something different, I use it for night vision by doing this it will disable -
I have been following the posts here so I thought it was time to wish him all the best, I don't know Dannik but would like to wish him well and speedy recovery. John

Operation: Icaro Is Ready For Beta Testing
JohnTC02 replied to JohnTC02's topic in GR:AW 2 - Mod Beta Testing
Hi Sightreader, Thanks for the post, pleased you like it. Just wanted to ask if you experienced any lag while playing the mission, if it's ok I think we are about done apart from the Blackhawk issue. I think the best thing is to play safe and remove the Blackhawk and just have a standard extraction after all it's only there as eye candy, I will add some furniture to the extraction point to make it look better and add some coloured smoke when it's time to extract. If there are any more issues regarding the lag or any other problems/suggestions then let me know so I can make a start -
Hi Bogie, hmm, bit confused here, I had v1.1 installed but didn't get a chance to test it then yesterday at 11:06 UK time post #11 you released version 1.2, which I installed tested and posted my report, I also said that with v1.1 installed it caused the game to crash. That's all fine, when I checked your thread this morning I found a new version 1.4, so what happened to v1.2 and what has changed in v1.4, you normally let people test one version and report their findings before releasing a new one. Just thought I would ask Bogie as it's very unlike you to release one without an expl

If nothing else I it will probably keep you fit, or you'll break your neck falling over the furniture. All he needs now is a combat suit that will give him an electric shock every time he gets shot.

Operation: Icaro Is Ready For Beta Testing
JohnTC02 replied to JohnTC02's topic in GR:AW 2 - Mod Beta Testing
Hi Viper, Thanks for the reply, I might need to raise the Blackhawk some more or maybe remove it completely. I wish that I had access to a dedicated server to test my missions on, that would save you guys the frustration of having to keep testing and getting the crashes, sorry for being a pain. As to the lag you found, I'm at a loss as to why this is happening as there is no changes to the AI in this version, maybe Bogie has some ideas or do you think it could have been a server problem. I will wait to see if anyone else has these issues or can suggest anything else I can do about -
Hi Bogie, Just tested v1.2. Must say you have done a great job with the map, I remember getting slaughtered at the Palace in GRAW1! The main issues I had was lag, from the start my frame rate went no higher than 30 this continued all the way until the compositions/effects stopped after that fps rose to around 50 and stayed there until I left the Palace heading for the real extract point then it fell again, when I triggered some of the locations it fell to around 15fps, I thought this was strange as there were no effects this time. I also found the AI very unresponsive, not sure if t

Hi Rocky, Loved the pictures, I'm a keen motor sport fan and always follow F1 and Touring Cars. Not sure about the last picture though, I think it might violate rule 3,8 (Posts of a Sexual nature), you should know better at your age!!

Operation: Icaro Is Ready For Beta Testing
JohnTC02 replied to JohnTC02's topic in GR:AW 2 - Mod Beta Testing
Hi All, Once again thanks to all that have been testing the mission, I really appreciate it. Version 1.2 is ready for testing. I have made quite a few changes thanks to all the feedback posted here. 1. I have added some movers around the area where the pickups stop (start of mission) there are also some movers that are created from the mission script when all players are in that location, this should stop players being able to get around the outside of the map. 2. Removed the SIEGE text from the building that TripleX found. 3. Lowered one building that wasn't touching the grou -

Thanks for the reports, Hi TripleX, your screen shots are very useful for finding these sort of problems it's a lot easier the trying to explain it all. I have been working on the issues you mention, I removed the table at the "codes" objective so there is nothing in your way now. The picture of the wire fence is a bit strange as I had a look and it's not in v1.1, removed the "siege" text on the ground well spotted Triplex also lowered the building you spotted. The gaps you saw on top of the building near the laptop are a fault with the prop, when I tried to lower it the whole buil -
Operation: Icaro Is Ready For Beta Testing

Version 1.1 is ready for testing. Quite a few changes in this version that mainly effect the map. 1. Replaced the dynamic destroyed tank in the centre of the map and removed the destroyed hemtt. 2. Removed several small destructible props. 3. Removed some of the paint effects. 4. Removed a few trees from the map and at the insertion point. 5. The respawn location has been moved to the hanger near the Adat. 6. Removed the havoc that appears while in the pickups. I think the changes to the map has helped the lag problems that have been reported here but I'm not sure if it's enough -

JohnTC02 replied to JohnTC02's topic in GR:AW 2 - Mod Beta Testing
Hi Dav, In the next version the respawn point you mention has been moved to the hanger next-door. Regarding the "final objective" I think you mean the Fuel Refinery Lab, once you have found the codes you should be able to plant c4 on the door or destroy it with grenades or GL. I do like the gas cans but they are a big frame rate killer and I'm have issues with lag here as it is, sorry to spoil your fun Dav!! I have made several changes to the map to reduce the lag which has helped a little, I'm still trying to get a bit more out of it so I hope to be posting a new version later today -

Operation: Icaro Is Ready For Beta Testing
JohnTC02 replied to JohnTC02's topic in GR:AW 2 - Mod Beta Testing
Hi Rahn and thanks for the report, I have played the mission several times lone wolf but never noticed this problem, I will have a look. I had the same issue on one of my other maps, the door to the lab is just a destructible fence which is activated when you complete the "Find Lab Door Codes" objective until then the door is indestructible so you can't place c4 until then, if you are still having problems with the c4 you can always use a grenade (as you found out) or GL. I'm pleased you liked the bottles but I cannot take credit for adding them they were put there by the map's aut -
The Bushmaster Campaign Is Ready For Testing
JohnTC02 replied to JohnTC02's topic in GR:AW 2 - Mod Beta Testing
Ok, here's v1.3, Please Note: You must remove any previous versions of the campaign or the game will crash on start-up. I have made a lot of changes to the AI in this version, the amount of AI has been reduced on all missions the patrol paths for some of the AI have also been changed plus some have been changed from "recon" to "idle" I have also added more save points at various points around all the maps, not to sure if this has helped though. Some of you that were experiencing crashes with "cam_tco2_devils_island_v1_4" a beta release coop mission when the campaign was installed -

Thanks for all the reports, Hi Bogie, I have never really delved into the environments.xml so I'm not to sure what I would need to adjust to create a Morning environment, I'm more than willing to do a Morning map if you could make some suggestions as to what I would need to alter or I could just pinch one of yours!! Thanks for the advice Bogie, I will do as you suggested and find the parts of the map that cause the most lag, to me it seems that the centre of the map is causing the most lag (was for me anyway) especially near the sandbags, there is a destroyed tank and hemtt there woul -

JohnTC02 replied to JohnTC02's topic in GR:AW 2 - Mod Beta Testing
Hi all and thanks for testing. You're in luck here Zero, there's not a bushwhacker in sight but you better watch the shadows. Hi Bogie, I was wondering if there would be any lag with more players as I said in the initial post I didn't think it was to bad but as you have found out the more players on the map triggering the AI is causing problems. PGS_Iceman seems to like using a diverse amount of props on his maps which is fine for his purposes making them just for TvT missions but for co-op it causes problems. There are a few dynamic sandbags which I can change to static ones whi -
Operation: Icaro v1 is now ready for testing. The mission is scripted on PGS_Iceman's map Icaro so thanks goes to him for it's use. I have spent a few hours trying to optimize the textures as I was experiencing a fair amount of lag with this mission so I have removed all the dynamic trees and shrubs, all lightmaps have been rerendered and converted to dds as have the silhouettes, I have also made a complete new texture scope file as the old one was loading to many textures. I hope you don't have to much lag with this mission as I can't see what else I can do here other than removin

I'm using Vista with AVG 8.5 free, so far I haven't had any problems apart from those annoying pop-ups. Before I had AVG I used Norton Internet Security, frequently getting viruses so when my subscription expired I moved to AVG since then I haven't had one virus. As Roco said it dose slowdown IE but I don't find it a huge problem. Just updated AVG no problems here, 16kb update took about 30 seconds. John

The Bushmaster Campaign Is Ready For Testing
JohnTC02 replied to JohnTC02's topic in GR:AW 2 - Mod Beta Testing
Hi Kaapo, Thanks again for the updates, keep them coming. It depends what order you complete the mission as to how many AI you will encounter when you head to the extraction point. Once an area is cleared you cannot respawn more at that location as it doesn't make sense to see more AI in that particular area, the only way to have more AI enter is to use a heli drop or if there is enough room then maybe a panhard insertion. There are at least one resupply mule in every mission but they can only be used to rearm you will not get any more health from them so what you found is quite nor -
The Bushmaster Campaign Is Ready For Testing
JohnTC02 replied to JohnTC02's topic in GR:AW 2 - Mod Beta Testing
Hi Kaapo, Sorry it's my mistake, I have no idea why I thought you were playing the single player campaign mission when you wife was with you, you are right there is no save points in coop campaign, it's Bogie that was testing the single player campaign where the game is saved when you complete each objective. I do think the missions need to be a bit easier just to allow for players which find this one to hard, if you find the next campaign to easy then you can always stick to this version. If you prefer this version and you find some issues that stop you from completing it, just let me -

JohnTC02 replied to JohnTC02's topic in GR:AW 2 - Mod Beta Testing
Hi Kaapo, Thanks for the detailed report, you are doing a great job with theses it's very useful. I mainly just make missions for the game and do very little playing apart from testing mine and other missions posted here so my knowledge of servers is very limited as all my testing is done using lan. So hopefully you are correct saying the crashes you had was related to the server. Very strange about the antenna, don't know why your wife couldn't place the c4 but you did it ok. Well done for completing Urban War, it was good to hear the pilot worked as he should as he is very temp -
How About We All Make A Mission From The Same Map?
JohnTC02 replied to davros's topic in GR:AW 2 - Mission Modding
Hi Bogie, Before I released my Castle Hill mission I sent a PM to Dav asking him if he had any objections to me releasing the mission. He told me to go ahead and get the mission finished, I'm not sure where he stands with his version but I get the impression that it might not get done. It would be a shame though as it was a good project. Maybe he can let us know. John
