That's a bit harsh Shrek. The modders here put a lot of time and effort into their work, they do it for free and never ask for anything in return apart from a little respect and gratitude. Your post does nothing to encourage modders to help you. Please be respectful when posting

Operation Arrowhead, ready for beta testing
JohnTC02 replied to JohnTC02's topic in GR:AW 2 - Mod Beta Testing
Thanks for testing folks. I'm currently working on a new version, all the doors in the bunker will have a new switch to open them so this will stop all those confusing onscreen messages, also changing all the furniture props from dynamic to static this will stop them moving around but it's taking a while. I will also move the AI that are near any laptops, computers or props that you need to use. Bob, not sure why the trigger messages stayed on screen or why you experienced bad lag, I'll look into it. Should be a new version up in the next day or two. -
Umm, this thread is over 3 years old!!

Operation Arrowhead, ready for beta testing
JohnTC02 replied to JohnTC02's topic in GR:AW 2 - Mod Beta Testing
Hi Rahn & Jack. Thanks for testing the mission. These on screen messages are causing some problems in my missions since I started using the new animated props, the way these work is that they will stay on the screen until you press "X" there is no way to change it. This is fine when the props are not close together but in the bunker there are a few animated props so the messages get confusing. I need to rework all the props for this mission, at the moment the only alternative is to use the same switch as I use for the "Hard" and "Ease" option at the start of the mission, this will -
Any Ideas on Fixing my mucked up Graphic Driver on XP?
JohnTC02 replied to Zeealex's topic in Self Help Tech Support
NP Alex, it's just that Franglen took your post the wrong way and as he is new here he probably doesn't know your skill level on PC's. I will leave it at that, maybe a PM to him would help. -
Any Ideas on Fixing my mucked up Graphic Driver on XP?

IMO your post was a bit harsh here Alex, the posters here are only trying to help plus as this is a public forum so said posts may help others even if you do know most of what's been mentioned. Apart from that not all members will realise that you have a good understanding of computers. -
Hi all, Operation Arrowhead is now ready for testing. Again this map is made up of custom buildings only, plus there are 11 new ones, see pics below. Custom sounds: There are 71 custom sounds in the mission which includes, new ambient sounds and new sounds for props. The sound mod is included with the download but if you have already installed it then you won't need it. I would also like to thank Radiator for letting me use some of his sounds from the Blackhawk Down mission. New features: There are many new features in this mission, you will find new barriers, doors and new

All I do is make these missions to cater for the majority, they ask for all these innovations in my maps so I do my best to deliver, it's not possible to please everyone. On a side note, my Daughter (Sonia) has a mid to high range laptop and she doesn't get that many crashes when playing my missions, in fact I think I get more than she does but mine are usually weapon related.
-
That's just a normal crash, nothing I can do about it. These often happen when your PC is unable to cope with the resources needed for the effect, since upgrading my PC I hardly ever get this problem.

Thanks for posting the link Hammer. Thread closed.

Sorry Frank, I was talking about my download speeds, it's been upgraded to 70Mb/s. My usage is not capped so I get unlimited downloads.
-
Thanks Franglen, By all means report any broken links you may find but as you say please don't swamp me with them as I normally fix all broken links myself. I've recently had my broadband upgraded from 10 to 70meg which make things a lot easier but finding loads of broken links in my inbox can be a bit daunting, lol!! John

Thanks for letting us know Alex. Comment has been deleted, posters IP addy is not known on the site but originates in the USA.

Hi Franglen, Thanks for reporting the broken links, it's nice to see people doing it correctly, both files have now been fixed. I think it's human nature that when they see the option to comment on a download entry they don't look any further so don't see the report broken link option. Using that feature will send an email to Rocky and myself so we know there is a link that needs fixing, we don't have the time (or the patience, lol!!) to go through the thousands of downloads to check all the comments. Just thought I should mention that you need to be aware of the poly count for these models, "cleaning" them up will dramatically increase the poly count for the model. I'm not sure but I think the total poly count for the entire map in GR is around 20k, I'm sure that Tinker or someone can tell you for sure. In GR:AW2 I like to keep the poly count as a low as possible to reduce lag so my buildings are lower than 7k poly's each, but I don't have the same restrictions as you do in GR, the poly count can be around 15k per model.

Hi Eric, This is the first I have heard about this problem, no one has mentioned it before or during beta testing, I will take a good look at the first mission to see if there are any issues, probably won't get to it until the new year though. The download you are using is the latest version so that is not the cause. I'll keep you posted. Thanks, John
