One argument is that the honorable thing is to engage on the field only. The other is that anything goes in combat and spawn zones are fair targets. In that case, you have to protect your spawn point.

This is the far view range. The idea that the enemy can "see" you through cover, while prone or at night easily is very unrealistic and designed to eliminate any kind of deliberate tactical approach from the game. You are supposed to go in full throttle and engage, regardless of the consequences.

Dannik, My main question to you is what is the replayability of the SP game? What improvements would you like to see in the PC game? I think first that it is unrealistic to think that the game will be reenginered in terms of map and mission design. 1. What if the squad command system was enhanced over the existing generic commands. For example, if you could order your squad to move to a specific location and hold, until you got into a firing position. It seems the advance order just sends them ahead. 2. The far view setting for AI must be set too far for them to "see" you through c

From IGN.com cheats: Bunker Brush Glitch In multi-player map number 8 (the POW camp) head into one of the bunkers you need to duck to go into. Occasionally, if you stand up you will be able to see and fire though the bunker's walls. This makes you almost invulnerable to return fire. Comment?

Is R6 incompatible with Win XP?

Don't get paranoid, Nightmare, I still like you even if no one else does.

They are on one of the computers in the mansion, around the corner from the security room. I think when you open the door, it will trigger the objective - found the proofs.

@ Spear "And that's coming from the man with GR2 in his sig " You definitely have a point there, unfortunately. All kidding aside, HL 2 is probably the best action game out there now, it will bury Doom 3. Just not my game. Instead of HL2, I play HD 2... and GR. And wait for Brothers In Arms.

I would like to see some comments on whether you can play GR 2 tactically, using the squad to flank and set up crossfires. The squad order system seems limited to 6 commands - hold, hold fire, advance, flank left, flank right and regroup. There does not appear to be a capability to tell the squad to go to a certain area on the map and hold. Will the squad hold until you give an order to regroup? Does the AI squad use cover and take cover or evade enemy fire? Are they intuitive and improved over GR? Can you give some examples of how you can use the squad tactically? In everything I have see

Bloody hell, no. This is Canada. In NB, all the counties and parishes and even towns have British names. The rest have native Indian names like Maguadavic or French names like Buctouche. Are you going to boot Blair out and elect the Labour Party. Bring the troops home!
-
Not so, compadre, it's more fun to post if you don't like it. Did you know we have parishes here named Northampton and Southampton, also Carleton, Victoria, Kent. Our Brit roots run deep. I'm just kidding, I play COD. Hell, I might even rent HL 2, but, I'll be damned If I let myself enjoy it.

Tactics as interpreted by a HL player: Should I run over that Lion Ant or should I just run over it? I think I'll run over it. Man, that's tactics. COD is a tactical shooter. Who'd a thunk it. Not me. 3 and 1/2 times? That many? Wow! I was just talking today about the non linear gameplay of Nightfire, sho nuff yo don't know where those bad guys are gonna be. Talk about dynamic. We're steaming good now. Cheers.

It would be nice to read a review by someone who actually liked and played GR, and didn't feel it was necessary to compare it to Halo every other sentence. I bridle at all the references to improving on the slow paced and boring GR and making it more like Socom. Yeah, right, who cares about tactics.
-
Can you comment on what I have read others write about a slower or laggy "look" speed? Most said it had changed from GR and GRIT.

I must be the odd man out, because I still don't see the justification at this point for not releasing some details about the PC game, even if it is in development. We certainly understand the process of testing and some features will be changed and some, ie, airstrikes in MP, will be dropped. That should not prevent some discussion of the general shape of the game and proposed features. The fact remains that no real explanation has been provided by the company itself other than you'll get it when you get it, so shut up. Sorry, Uber Ubi, excuse me for being born.

Hmmmm. Halflife 2? Now there's a thinking man's game, no doubt about it. Strategy, tactics and...Lion Ants. Yes, of course, that's what's missing from GR 2. It needs Lion Ants. That would put an end to the criticism that it's shallow and unrealistic. Make it a real thinking man's game. Now where did I put my Webster's, how do you spell hypocrite... "What happened to my little buggy" "The Lion Ant got your buggy. Oi." "Lupus! Is it Lupus" Good to se you haven't lost your sense of humor...oh, sorry, I forgot...you had it removed at birth. Look, lots of people go through life without a

To each his own. Far Cry and HL 2 are arcade anyway you slice it. Same as COD and the rest, one run through and you're done. When you're done HL 2, you go play CS - no thanks. Yeah, i will stick to my precious GR, there's a lot more replayability and tactical gaming there and in HD 2 than all those arcade action crappers put together. You people are too sensitive. Must have headcrabs. You can get something for that now.
-
I don't understand the excitement over this lame arcade trash.

Are they marked as an objective with a waypoint on the command map? If not, open the mission file in Igor and see where they are. There should be a proximity trigger when you get close to them to mark the objective completed.

On the official GR 2 website, there is a description of every MP gametype, I think there are 15. http://www.ghostrecon.com/us/ghostrecon2/a...stURL=index.php

I'm sorry but we expect more substantive reports on this game than that. We need details, lots of details.

What I wonder is how many gamers want what I want in a game - a non linear, open ended tactical game where you can try different approaches to complete the same objectives. That was the beauty of GR and HD 2. That is what I am looking for in GR 2 and BIA, also maybe CC FTF. But is that what the majority want? Not sure.
-
Get the game and the expansion pack too, Sabre Squadron, it's only $10, 9 missions and coop MP.

Why is GR2 for the PC going to be so much later
Kurtz replied to Medic6666's topic in GR2 PC - [Cancelled]
I know how to slow down the game in MP - take out the kill confirmation. It's not in SP, leave it out of MP. You can still record kills for stats, just no ingame confirmation. That would inject some tension and caution, especially if there are no respawns. It would make MP more realistic. I also know that few people favour this idea. I think it would be fun. -
I have a P4 1.6 with 512 RAM and a 128 mb 9800Pro, but, for GR 2, I am upgrading to a P4 3.4 and 1 GB Ram, so that should be good for GR and BIA. The 3.4 retails in Canada for about $500, with another $250 for a new mobo, and $250 for 512 Ram. The PC money pit.
