How does PB distinguish a server sided mod from a hack?
-
For PC, add suppressed weapons for quick mission, all MP modes. Especially for "recon".
-
I did play coop MP, I refer coop anyway, and it is the same as GR. MP has the same ideas, human vs human, human vs AI. Coop was great fun, and with like minded people on comms, nothing better. Now, the same thing affects mission coop as SP, the missions are more linear, and the objectives are A to B to C. That didn't make the objectives any less fun or challenging. There are some great defend gametypes with huge amounts of enemy (150 to 200, I am guessing), multiple tanks or gunships. One flaw in MP is no suppressed weapons. There are none in the game except the 9mm pistol. That should be f

Ubi does run mods, but, a very narrow selection, if they run mods at all, 90% run DA4.9 and Harntrox 5. Most ASE servers do not run mods. Mods get more play in SP because they tend to cause technical problems in MP by crashing servers. You are not going to find servers to play mods by Jack57, Sixpence, Blakarion, En4cement, and most others. New players will not likely find servers for the mods they play in SP. They do need a good place to play online free of cheats. Choices have to be made. The bottom line is that the Ubi service is a disaster and needs total remediation. An anticheat

Martyrdom & Carnage Try downloads at www.ghostrecon.net

Would it not have made more sense and added more fun to alllow a selection of suppressed weapons like MP5SD, silence sniper, Socom, Steyr SD, FAMAS , etc. If someone wanted to use a pistol, that could be an option too. Its too narrow a selection.

The Ubi service should geared towards the new player, someone who wants to try MP and play with like minded players. It has become a cesspool of the worst, most immature and rude people filling the chat lobby with profanity and obscenities, trading cheats, ghosting identities and preying on noobies to make their MP experience as hellish as possible. The mature players you talk about do not play on Ubi, they play on ASE and direct IP to dedi and clan servers. These servers can take care of themselves. The Ubi service is like Dodge City. If Ubi is not interested in building an anticheat progr

It would take that long or more given the design of the game. Not only the missions but the maps would all have to be rebuilt, as the existing maps are much more linear, with all sorts of man made and natural barriers, limited access routes. There is no stealth element in the game and only 1 squad, with very little control over its placement and movement. The AI is not as good as GR and the AI character animations are more arcade. Just about every element of the game would have to be redone to make it a tactical combat game instead of the action game that it now comprises. That would take a g

"RSE should write their own program, even a basic one would be better than PB" That is the best solution.

What destructible buildings are there besides the airport tower and the bridge?

I just think some drastic steps have to be taken with the Ubi service. It's an embarressment and a mess, it is pretty bad that most people experience their first MP play in this craphole setup. If they don't, it will be up to ASE to provide good support for MP. As bad as it is, PB would be better than nothing, even if it were only used on the Ubi service. Something has to be done.

Then how do you solve the problem of rampant cheating on the Ubi public servers. Clan and dedi servers, servers on ASE can police themselves with replays and knowledgeability, but the public servers are wide open. There has to be either aN RSE anticheat or some 3rd party software like PB. Better to have a clean playing field than a modded public server, the most popular mod on Ubi is DA4.9. This is the portal for new players and they need a place free from cheaters and haxors. If not PB, then what? My suggestion is that PB be mandatory to play on Ubi. Only non modified games would be allowe

http://www.rainbowsix.org/ and his site - Sixmods - http://sixmods.atwar.net/news.php On another note, it's a huge download, but, Under The Blood Sun is a great Sixpence mod.
-
My suggestion would be to make something optional to install with the game, but, make it mandatory to install in order to play on the Ubi public servers. Clan and dedi servers can monitor their own setup with replays and screenshots. The rampant cheating and hacking problem is far more prevalent in Ubi lobby and something like PB would curb a lot of that. Something has to be done as this is the main portal for new players to MP and it shouldn't be ruined by cheaters and haxors.

I will add a brief comment on the spotting view. In GR, if you were not too close, you could crawl prone into a good position to observe and then assault the enemy. In GR 2, even at a distance, I found that even prone, the enemy detected you and immediately engaged on your position. I found that I would crawl with the weapon zoom on until I could just see their outline and then I engaged them. I am not the only person who has commented on this phenomenon, it certainly vitiates the use of stealthy approach and tactical movement.
-
The comment that I found most memorable was the guy who said the stealth element that was in Socom 2 was lacking in GR 2. How did RSE stray so far from the original game concept? If there ever was an example of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", this was it. I am one of the old farts that would have settled for a fresh coat of paint and some enhancements. I would rather have had another expansion pack than this incarnation. Oh well, better get back to the home, it's spagetti night.

I had the same opinion of the demo as Sup.

I'm a PC player and I just wrote my impressions in a post made by Hoak. Rent a console and borrow a copy, then mke your own mind up.

Every GR pc player needs to rent an Xbox and take a look at the game, and draw their own conclusions. I think it is naive to think the game structure is going to be reengineered for pc. The unique qualities of GR were the open ended gameplay and maps, you could go anywhere and do anything in any order, and control directly or indirectly any man in the field, you could move instantly from one end of the map to another. That is gone, most existing games like Socom, OFP, COD and new games like GR 2 and BIA all play through one character. The field of play is limited to your line of sight, you c

The best reason to play GR is GR 2

Maybe you could summarize what he said.

Smartjoy Frag forum: http://forum.lik-sang.com/index.php I think I read that to reset a mouse button, you had to hold the mouse button down at the same time as "escape" and old key setting , its in the forum posts.

What other buildings are destructible other than the control tower at the airport?
-
What are your deadzone and sensitivity settings. I have read that 50-55 and 4-5 are good for GR 2.

@Sup I heard a rumor that [OFP: DR] was set in Vietnam. Did you hear this or anything different?
