No, there are lots of buildings, you just cannot enter them. In the demolished city level, there are snipers up on the upper floors of some buildings, where the facades are missing.

I think most Xbox gamers like the game a lot, aside from the technical problems with Live. Some have been disappointed with the direction it took from GR. I have played it and it is a great action game, comparable to any on the market. It isn't a tactical shooter like GR and wasn't intended to be. It seems to me that making this game the tactical game that PC players want will require the wholesale rebuilding of practically the entire game, including map and mission design. It also seems clear that the PC game will not have character switching, multiple teams, or command map control. OK,

I wasn't clear, I meant they don't sound like special forces soldiers. If they are going to put this dialogue in a game, it should be more mission specific and serve some purpose. I think the voice dialogue is related to the rating. I initially thought that they were going to present the briefing as a real briefing with a cutscene or video of an officer addressing the team, in fron of a map, etc. It is a little silly having a debriefing of sorts prior to the mission.

"Christian Allen (Game Designer) explains how the characters were further fleshed out by portraying their personalities through the game's dialogue. He explains how the new cinematic briefings are used as a vehicle to establish the characters outside of the action before you start the missions." The voice acting is pretty poor, doesn't sound very professional. I hope they go back to a conventional briefing. If they did a video, make it like a real mission briefing.

For console, there are no indoor levels. That will probably be changed for PC.

Or the guy that said Socom was stealthier.

Make a small mod of your own with your own kits with weapons of your choosing. You can make the kits in Igor or notepad. If you use weapons that are not in origmiss,mp1 or mp2, make an equipment folder. Add a modscont.txt file. You can put any 2 weapons together in a kit.

Replays and screen captures are the best answer for moderated servers with experienced admins. The real problem is on the public service where they are not moderated and there is no admin. In this case, it could be the host who is using a cheat or hack. Ubi used to be a decent place to play and you could find some real good people there, but, I think they have been driven off by the immature and rude people, the profanity, the ghosting and the rest of the crap that overruns the service.

A Little Unsatisfied, I Think

You summed it up well, I had the same observations. That "recon" gametype really puzzles me, if you had a selection of silenced weapons like a silenced sniper rifle, Socom, Steyr SD, MP5SD, etc., that gametype could be really interesting and more varied. -
Xbox Multiplayer review from a PC GR1 vet.

From my limited experience, I totally agree about MP on Live. I didn't have the technical problems some people had, it was smooth and lag free. I played mostly coop and it was great fun and similar to GR. It is always hard to find people who want to play like a real team, but, when they do, it is great fun, what coop is all about. As I have said before, with team play and voice comms, it doesn't get any better. The SP game is a total departure from GR in terms of structure and gameplay. It is an action game that centers on a single character and it is more linear and scripted, it isn't as l -
It would be worth your while to read the entire preview of R6 4 at Gamespot. It is deja vu all over again. They talk about things like simplified briefings, no planning stage ( as far as I could see), a 4 man squad most of the time. One mission has you in a tower by yourself with a sniper rifle and you go from window to window shooting enemy that threaten your squad. The gameplay described sounded like GR 2. They also talked about the game screen enclosed by a pair of goggles that would deteriorate as the game progressed, got dirty, cracked. A long long way from the R6 i remember. An

So, either RSE writes an anticheat for the game or it's still open season for cheaters and haxors at Ubi, guaranteeing rigged games for new players, until they are advised to use ASE or some alternative. They say they are working on it so we'll see what they come up with.

There is a preview of the Xbox and PS2 at Gamespot http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/action/tomcla...ew_6114141.html It sounds quite different - there was a reference to the fact that most of the time you would have a 4 man squad. It mentioned a mission where you play a sniper in a tower and you go from window to window killing enemy that are threatening your squad. "There are several other new features in Rainbow Six 4 that you can't help but notice the first time you play the game, the most obvious of which is that the entire screen is framed by a pair of goggles. Initially, the goggles

If there was a GR mission pack, I would buy it whether anything was improved. If there were enhancements, so much the better. I would buy them as long as they made them. On the other hand, I think that mods like Operation Stabilise and Under The Blood Sun as mission packs and I have 8GB worth of them. I won't give up the dream of a hybrid GR, the best of GR and GR 2, but integrating the game structure of GR until the PC game is released. A lot can happen in 6 months and a lot of things can change. My point about trends in game design is that no one is designing a game that has a GR game st

The only suppressed weapon in the game is a 9mmsd pistol. That is the very least of the things that have to be redone for PC.

Playing on Live is as good as GR, whether coop or adversarial, there are some great defend games. You will like it, especially if you can find some like minded people. What specifically disappointed you in the SP campaign? -
GR 2 has a lot of hings that people want, like better kit selection, 4 kits, better graphics, glitch fixes, more realistic reloading and weapon switching, better main character animations. What is missing from GR 2 is the openness of GR - open maps, open ended mission objective completion, freedom of movement. This is not the trend in game design, the trend is toward more structure, direction, simplification, ease of access. A lot of people didn't like the open ended nature of GR - what do I do first? More and more gamers are used to games that tell you exactly what to do or lead you by th

I have DSL, and I am In Canada. My experience with Live was very smooth, no lag. But, that was playing with 3 to 5 people. I am leery of this claim to host 16 people, maybe 8 or 9. But, maybe I'm wrong.

In order to produce a tactical game as good as GR, the existing game would require major sugery, we're talking reconstructing practically the entire game structure, and doing so in 5 to 7 months. They could take the same structure and add refinements and improvements that would add much needed tactical elements to the SP game. The MP game plays the same albeit the coop game is subject to the same linear elements in the mission structure. I don't think there will be any anticheat in the game, I think replays will be included, but the Ubi service will not be improved other than cleaning up th

Why do some mods leave me with a white screen?????

Could it be something as simple as the mods requiring IT. -
Can you explain how an anticheat program can allow mods but still detect cheats and hacks?

I know no more about GR 2 for PC than anyone else. I do know that GR 2 changed from a tactical combat game to an action combat game with practically no tactical elements. If the game remain the same for PC, the GR community will be badly split and there will be minimal interest in modding GR 2. Some veteran modders have already moved on to other game engines. Most modders are hard core or realism gamers and a lot of their mods reflect this. GR 2 will not interest them or motivate them to want to mod for it. The hardest thing to do is build maps. If the maps are not open like GR, it limits

You can use a squad to go ahead of you and "recon" for enemy, they will move slowly and when they see the enemy, they will report it and take cover. Set their ROE to "recon" and set a path with waypoints. If you then look at your command map, you will see the enemy on the map as red x's. You can then flank and engage them. Also, when you move, there is a command map view that allows you to bring up the map while moving, often enemy will appear on the map before you see them, it is good to periodically bring up the map. The key is to move slowly, use your zoom or binos and be careful.
