  1. I think the reason that GR 2 looks different than GR did on Xbox is the same reason that GR 2 for PC will be considerably different from GR. It's a response to trends in gaming toward games that have a simpler interface, are more accessable, that new players can pick up and play, removing complex planning phases and tactical maps and waypoint systems to a more immediate, jump in and go, single character, line of sight game structure. Who's making FPS games with avatar switching, tac maps and waypoint systems. There not in action games like Halflife 2 or Stalker, or combat games like Brother
  2. The limp - leave it out. It doesn't work in a single character game. In GR, if you got hit in the leg, you switched to another man and let gimpy get back to extraction the best he could. There's no way you could stand to limp through a huge level. It's one thing to have the NK limp, if the combat model applies to you too, no good, doesn't fit.
  3. - SP interface - Keep the structure from GR. First, the briefing phase, include a static page with an objectives summary at the end. Then, the team selection. Allow the player to pick the team and have a default setup. Then weapon selection. Allow the player to select his kits and those of his squad. Then launch the mission, if a mission critical item is missing from the loadout, use a pop up screen to advise, as in GR.
  4. There are 2 threads going including a pinned wishlist to post specific features you want to add to the PC version. I have seen 2 devs reading the thread, so this is the time to put your ideas in play.
  5. - Switching weapons. No menu. One button for next item is not workable, since there are 4 kits instead of 2. Each weapon needs its own assigned key. You can't cycle through kits in a fight, you need to hit 1 key. The slower weapon switching is great, keep that.
  6. No, I think it is a very good idea. The pinned post can be a "pure" wishlist, and my thread can allow more commentary. I see that there has been good response to the new post, and I noted a couple of RSE folk were reading my thread yesterday. I believe that this type of specific and positive presenting of ideas and enhancements will make the PC game better in the end.
  7. Banning - host can boot - host can appoint a temp admin, is that doable? - that leaves the dedi server with no admin present. Most of the time someone from the clan or site will be doing admin duty. - The only problem with the auto ban for TK is a case where someone has an accident with a frag. Should the ban voting be done away with and let the host ban? Comments? What do you think about IP or CD key banning?
  8. - Banning. How do you implement this? The host should have the ability to ban someone on his server? What if there is no admin present? Vote banning? I don't know.
  9. Some mods in GR1 feature this, but since I only play on my privat network with my two brothers in law i find it very difficult because most of those mods were for at least 32 members or so, and even with my aiming skill it was not survivable. One item that I will miss in GR2 is the aim sight, i have no need for an over the shoulder look, i liked the aiming end precision shooting (look aim, shoot through the head) in combination with an m4 sopmod or so, so you can go allmost undetected. ← - Hit damage model. The GR model was the best. With the single character game, you need more tol
  10. Spotting range- I think the values are higher in GR 2. I would like to know what they are. Here is a random sample from GR: 1. Caves - 90 metres 2. Farm - 75 3. Railroad bridge - 125 4. Village - 120 5. Embassy - 75 DS 1. Beach - 75 2. Refinery- 75 IT 1. Plantation - 70 2. Beach resort - 90 OK, that's a lot of missions where you could get up to 75 metres to the enemy before being seen.
  11. - I don't know if this is doable, but, what about random enemy placement for firefight gametype.
  12. Look for "Operation Acid Rain", the download page that pops up contains the English translation for the mission objectives, not the briefing. What I did was save the html page as a text file and cut and pasted the translated objectives into the briefing text in the .mis file in notepad. It is easier just to print the translated objectives, you just need to know what to do, when you complete the objectives, the objective completed screen comes up, in Polish. I like the Polish comments when you kill someone. Not that I know what they are saying. You feel like Jason Bourne. And a Merry Chris
  13. The software to launch the Ubi service came with your game and there is a folder called Ubi.com in your GR folder, go there and install the software from there.
  14. Bullet impact raised by NYR. I love the bullet impact in GR, the sound and the flinch, it is the best of any game, definitely put it back in. This could be a rating issue - hence the need for a "mature" rating.
  15. You should look at the 4 voice software programs for PC - Teamspeak, Roger Wilco, Ventrilo, and BattleCom. http://www.goteamspeak.com/news.php http://rogerwilco.gamespy.com/ http://www.ventrilo.com/ http://battlecom.freewebtools.com/ Look for player reviews, features, hosting requirements, freeware or purchase, etc.
  16. @ BTK, Explain what you mean about sensors for snipers. There are no sensors in GR 2 and there was alot of criticism of them in GR IT. How would they be implemented?
  17. - Kit selection. Full control over your own and AI kits, as well as choosing your team AI, take 1, 2 or 3 AI. Now, I like the 4 kits. Remember that the GL underbarrel is a kit selection, so with 3 kits, you could only add AT or frags. I would not restrict AT to your demo spec because if he goes down, you're meat for a gunship or tank, and they chase you all around the map now. - Medic. There was a reason that it was taken out of MP, and you have a good point, it might be a balance issue. What if it was put back in only for coop, and you could stay in the game, but, with lesser capability. S
  18. 1. Kit restriction .kil file in MP to restrict AT only, so you don't restrict claymores or grenades. 2. Take kill confirmations out of SP and MP, except for team games, you need to know if a team member has been killed. 3. Change the map overlay to a full screen map, with grids.
  19. From playing GR 2 on Xbox, I have made some conclusions on improvements, some of which I have previously stated, but, I will summarize. I would like people to post their suggested improvements and additions as well, but, be specific in what they want to see included, not just a general statement. 1. A. The biggest complaint I have is lack of precise control over the squad. The orders are too vague. The most important improvement would be an "advance to" command instead of "advance". It could be context sensitve or a one button order targeted to a specific location on the ground. The squad w
  20. There is a lot that can be done in 4-5 months and a lot of time to make suggestions. The SP game is not that bad from a PC POV, there are a lot of enhancements that could improve it. Including more precise control of the squad, a recon ROE, suppressed weapons for MP, quick mission and recon, better AI movement animation, better voice dialogue, better briefing setup, full control over squad and weapon selection. Make the squad order system better by fixing the hold order and adding an "advance to" command for precise squad placement.
  21. You should only get that message if your demo guy gets killed and there are still tanks left. The mission fails if the allied patrol loses a man. It does sound like a bad .mis file. If you PM someone here with your e-mail, they will send you a .mis file.
  22. There is an English translation of the mission objectives for the new mod by the Polish modders, at http://www.ghostaholic.com . I saved the html page as a text file and pasted the objectives into the briefing box. The Polish voices are cool.
  23. I agree, these glitches are not game killers and will be addressed. The real bad geometry glitches were the edge and incline from GR like craters and the edges at inclines. My take from the map design of GR 2 was that these were removed and I have not read one post about glitching on Live.
  24. Agreed. To have left it out was to have deleted a realistic feature. To have given total healthpack Half-Life type healing was too much. The devs have struck the best middle ground available. Many people have griped about the feature, but of those how many persons have played through several instances and seen how it operates as a gameplay mechanism? It works. ← I hope they put the medic back in MP, it would be great in coop and T vs T. The only real gripe I have about the game design is the squad orders. I would like to see a little more precision in the order system. The hold or
  25. GR 2 for PC is going to be basically what is on the Xbox, at least in term sof the SP campaign. I think the big decisions regarding game design and structure have been made, it just has to be migrated to the platform, enhanced and bug tested. I think the changes are a result of marketing forces that require a certain type of game in this genre, simplified interface and design, easier to pick up and play, smaller learning curve, more direct action, more centered on the player. So, there won't be multiple squads, character switching, command map waypoints. My hope is that they will at least a
