They have to work on a lot of things in GR 2 to keep it from being another arcade shooter, in fact, there isn't practically one element of the game that doesn't need improving. Even if you accept that there will be no avatar switching, no multiple squads and no command map, they will have to build and enhance the squad control, improve the AI, fix the movement animations, fix the run speed, fix the glitches, put back the death animations and blood, add suppressed weapons at least for MP and other game types, add interior levels, fix the spotting range. That is a lot of fixing to do before next

I think any client joining would have to have that .kil file.

It checks the cdrom drive because that means you bought the game.
-
No, you need the CD.

Doesn't apply to you or Kimi. You're part of the solution, not the problem.

There are very few mods for GR 1.4, but the best mod you can get is 12 Weeks by Righthand, they are quick missions with lots of twists. The best weapon mod is Navy SEALS. Both are available here. Cheers.

OK, my first thought was somebody's ghosting his user name.

I think you are right, the point is indeed to sell the game to as many people as possible, not make the best game ever made that nobody bought. The problem I have is that GR literally ruined me for any other game, and I am not kidding. I played Doom 3 demo, and it was cool for about 5 minutes, and then, I ask myself the same question - why are you wasting your time on this? You could be playing Op Stabilise. I played the new demo for Punisher and Men Of Valor. Then, I wonder, are they really that bad or has GR made me so critical and intolerant of crappy games. The only game I like as much

I agree totally with regard to RSE and the game, it will be very good, despite the parent company. I think a lot of your reservations and criticisms have been based firmly in fact and as a result of policies of Ubi. I would feel a lot better if there was even an official announcement now about the ongoing development on GR 2 and confirmation of its release date. I hate this stony silence about anything PC, the mods at Ubi lobby are starting to resort to sarcasm and ridicule in response to PC questions. I know something about excellent customer service standards and Ubi fails to meet tho

"ALFA: Antiterror is a realistic turn-based tactical simulator that will likely remind you of games like X-COM, Jagged Alliance, and Silent Storm. " I thought it was an FPS. God, I hate turn based games.

Major beefs against GR2 on XboxLive
Kurtz replied to theWalrusKing's topic in GR2 Console - General Discussion
You know, to some extent, PC gamers would be in the same boat if there was no support for ASE or direct IP, and we only had the Ubi lobby to play on. Think about that for a minute. Those same morons are running amuck there as well. Every game would have to be PW protected and screened. We are lucky to have alternatives. -
Hatchet, Have you tried the defend gametype in MP with the waves of enemy, tanks and helos. Great fun with 3 or 4 guys.

The sad thing is, the game you just described would make a fortune, competing with Stalker and Halo 3....."sigh"...."goes back to playing GR"

Quote: "the console versions completely lack what gave the first game it's charm; the ability to carefuly plan and select and equip your team, set them up as you wish on a vast outdoor map, and at the crucial moments jump into the body of that rifleman or demo specialist in order to execute the plan you so cleverly devised. That and that alone is what set GR apart from every other game out there and nobody has delivered as compelling an experience since...period. If this feature, this thing that made the first game so intriguing that I'm playing it again after so many years and loving it is g

What do you think of the MP?
-
Para, Would those factors come into play when shooting a non sniper rifle, like an M16 at 100 to 150 meters. In a game like GR, where the maps are small, you are engaging at relatively short distances like above, even sniping is limited to probably 200 meters due to draw distance and fog. It seems that these would be less relevant at such short distances. I'll be honest, I am not interested in having to make a lot of calculations and adjustments in a game, I get enough of that at work, I want a balance between realism and fun, with the emphasis on fun. Again, you will only find this kind o

No mass market games incorporate ballistics into the game such that you have to make adjustments and claculations. I am not aware of any tac sim that has realistic bullet drop, even miliitary training sims. Maybe someone can correct me if I am wrong in assuming OFP and VBS1 do not have these kind of adjustment factors.

I was thinking it would be more of a challenge to do it with just an M8 or an M4, with more weapons, it would be more fun to replay. Like doing the GR missions with 1 man and trying different weapons. Like Stone Bell, with 1 man with an M4 and AT.

Between playing mission 1 and 2, did you do anything different like activate an additional mod. If you do, it will crash when you try to open the campaign. Restart the campaign. If it's the .mis file, someone here can send you a new one.

Do you think it would have been better to unlock all the weapons for Lone Wolf, for variety? Also, would you have liked to have had suppressed weapons that you could unlock for quick mission and MP?
-
I like the idea of smoke grenades but, the code would have to be optimized, as smoke in GR was laggy as hell. Not sure why, some techy reason, I guess. There are smoke grenades in Conflict DS 2 (definitely not endorsing the game, too arcade) and they do not lag at all, so maybe that could be looked at.

- Locked and unlocked weapons. Keep this the same as GR, unlock all weapons for quick mission and MP. Unlock missions in quick mission as you complete them.
-
I need some clarification. If you complete the campaign once on normal, can you do any mission in quick mission? If so, can you do it in normal or hard, or do you have to do a camapign on hard first. Do you have to do a campaign in Lone Wolf to unlock Lone Wolf for quick mission? Do you have a wider selection of weapons in Lone Wolf or is there a wider selection for Lone Wolf quick mission?

From playing in OTS, I tried to use the view to use the peripheral view at corners, but it seemed the camera is back too far, you're better off using the lean. In MP, it's dangerous doing that, while you're fiddling with the view, someone could come around the corner and nail you good. Also, the FPV can be locked for MP.
