Nothing wrong with the level, very creepy. A lot of crazed cult members, some people feel that the number is too many for a realistic police sim. With all the stairways and rooms, you have to be very cautious because they can come from any direction. I thought it was a great level, very challenging and creepy. I give the game high marks especially the AI, the squad command system is very good. I liked it better tha SWAT 3.

For MP, I would like to see an enhanced tac map, where the person elected to have the stripes or leader is able to assign waypoints for squads. This would be very good for coop and team. The idea of random spawn points slected with the tac map is outstanding. Even if the map is split into 2 zones, you would have the entire zone to choose from, probably more than sufficient to prevent spawn camping, but, not have teams spawning on top of one another. The concept is excellent.

I want to see some evidence of the much cited non linear gameplay and open maps. If it is the same corridor game as COD, then forget it. It's gameplay first, graphics second.

One thing in the news that was intriguing was the concept art of a mountainous jungle environment that suggests a possible variety of map environments for GR 3. I hope that is the case.

Theoretically, there is nothing wrong with single character games. In reality, in squad based games, there is usually very poor squad control and the squad order system is very poor, and you only have 1 squad. Poor command systems mean very little tactical potential. Another problem is the focus, you have a very narrow focus and the tendancy is to build linear maps with chanelled movement and linear gameplay. Everything is line of sight so there is no need for a good tactical map. The maps tend to be less open. The biggest problem with the single character game is that they have no repla

It's a valid point, it is the same thing as last time. Lots of info about Xenon and 360 and nothing about pc. People keep going on about non disclosure agreements when no explanation is ever given to that effect, why even have a non disclosure agreement, why can't the devloper release info about a game that is supposedly wel along in development? People here give reasons but there is no real verification that they are valid and no official explanation. They should stop this and treat the platforms as parallel developments and release information at the same time, as it is available. The way

And I guess this is the reason that classic GR is dead, most people don't want it and the devs see that. Since all I ever wanted was the same GR with the new graphics engine, new maps and better AI, I see nothing better in a single character game with 1 squad and no pathfinding. The elements in GR made it distinct, now its the same as all the rest of the formulaic games out there. Too bad.

There was more to character switching than that, although the death of any squad member did not end the game, unless he was mission critical. There was more continuity to the game in GR, a mission continued until the last man, sometimes literally. Otherwise, it's the same as any other game, die, reload, die, reload, etc But, also, character switching allowed a more varied experience in a mission because you could switch from rifleman to demo to machine gunner to sniper at will. Also, it allowed both remote and direct control of multiple squads, you could move squads anywhere on the map and th

- web based game browser, also support for direct IP and ASE, Xfire - replays, robust admin options, kick/ban options - varied map environments - some interior buildings - robust squad control and good AI - varied weapon selection and GR 2 kit selection, ie, pick 1 from each. - large open maps with lots of routes - non linear mission design - toggle as much of HUD as possible - realistic enemy movement and animation, GR like death animations and ragdoll - improve weapon sounds from GR 2 - random enemy placement scripts for firefight - no driveable vechicles - more var

If they survive, their brain swells 2 to 3 times its size from the concussive force. If they live, they have part of their skull surgically removed to relieve the pressure until the swelling subsides and they wear a special helmet the rest of their lives. Then they get to contend with the declining quality of their vets health benefits, which are continually cut to provide tax breaks for millionaires.

What we really need is GR VR.

In this mission, you follow him while staying out of sight, you can watch their progress on your command map. He is supposed to go to the chalet, get in the enemy truck and go down to the camp. Try restarting the mission from scratch, not from a save point.

I would like to see it retained as an option, with the FPV as default. On another note, I wonder if modders will be able to make cinematic movies for mods.

I think the movie is a 360 movie, not a pc movie. Movies do not demonstrate depth of gameplay, which may or may not be there, they are really only good at showing the graphical elements. Movies always show furious firefights, which are an essential element of any shooter. You rarely see vids of the stealthy aspect of shooters. To guage the depth of the game, you need to read hands on articles or wait for a demo. I would also be wise to heed my own advice, hence I would never have bought BIA.

"That’s why we are implementing exclusive features for the Tactical Map of the game. With this tool, the planning phase can now happen at anytime in the game (at least when you’re safe enough!). That also means that you’ll be able to change your plans if things do not go as planned, just like real soldiers do. We feel this is an ideal balance between strategy and improvisation." This sounds very old school. Great interview. Things are really looking up now.

This is consistent with the controversy about the lack of uparmored vehicles in Iraq. As far as the Pentagon and White House being concerned for the average soldier, the government is about to cut $1 billion dollars from the Veterans Affairs Dept, mostly from the expropriations for new construction and facilities, such as health clinics. A fine thank you for returning vets and former vets, who depend on that health care. As a Canadian, I can reassure you that vets get the same ######ty treatment from our government. Why is that? Mouthing platitudes does not fill prescriptions or create hop

Maybe it was a guerrilla tactic to get feedback, so that they could tell Ubi, "Look, they don't want this!" To which Ubi would reply, "we don't care, we want it!" I cannot see this as a accident, they would have explicit instructions not to reveal anything until told. They may very well be working under some very strict guidelines and concepts as to the game design, in order to make it as palatable as possible for a mass market.

Simply, there are 3 screenshots at Grin's website that have pc in the image name. they could be early renders or a glimpse of what is to come.

Very good find, this confirms my belief that the pc game will be structured like the 360 game - single character, 1 squad of 3 AI, line of sight commands, limited squad commands. The differences will be in things like mission design, possibly in map design, graphics optimized to pc platform. If this represents the pc game, then the squad order system looks too simplistic, the ret needs a crosshair, and the compass is too big.

- weapon with FPWV is the SCAR. So this should be in the pc game. Magazine shows 24, 31 and 53 rounds, not sure if that is the mag or total rounds left. - 2 ROEs, recon and assault. - Mitchell and 3 man squad, no idea how you command squad. - 3 or 4 bar health indicator. - large compass - viewport for sat view and maybe squad viewport, don't know. - no radar or fire indicators. - nicer ret with inner circle, but still no crosshair. - round selector is 3 round burst, speculate on semi and full. Interesting.

Does the Ubi game service recognize your version? There is a tab in lobby settings to verify the game version. Also, as above, check the mods running.

Where are the servers at?Is snyone playing online?
Kurtz replied to Chammy's topic in GR (PC) - General Discussion
If that is Gamespy Arcade, nobody uses it. There are servers in Ubi and, as said, ASE. There are servers for direct IP connect cited here. -
For me, the thing that irks me is the bias against the sandbox type tac sim like GR, there is a real aversion to this kind of open ended game. Same with having 3 or 4 squads with robust squad orders. Same with waypoint pathfinding, it's all line of sight now. Games are gettings too simplified, too linear, too spoonfed, somepeople just want to jump in, run and shoot. I think there is a sizeable market for a niche game like GR, but, we're not going to see it. The best I can see is a compromise that gives you at least better squad control and better AI than GR 2, and a more open mission struct

I liked the idea that Sonnedecker suggested about splitting the line between an action oriented game and a tac sim like the original for hard core players. The 2 games would share a lot of common elements and would only differ in the gameplay mechanics. I would think a tac sim GR 3 would sell at least 30,000 copies, a lot of people would buy both games.
