  1. What I like (most everything I have read and seen): - tac map returns with waypoints and pathfinding - multiple squads, ability to split the squad into units. - the graphics - the destructible environment - the AI and use of cover - control over things like UAVs and gunships - first person view -models - the new leaning What to improve: - too urban, throw in at least some other environments. - better rets - no outline - more than 5 for MP coop What I need to see more of: - exactly how do you give orders - how do you use the tac map - what does the zoomed view of the diffe
  2. I am not a fan of Far Cry, but, I think modern game engines can do large open maps, but, your point about the graphics is very well put, if you combine graphics with destructible environments, maybe you have to make compromises. I hope the reason is not to support a lot of scripting and proximity triggers, that is very limiting and should be kept to a minimum. That image you refer to was an art render for GRAW. I just wonder what the reason was for the devs to go this route.
  3. I am very excited about this title and definitely intend to buy it. The biggest reservation I have about it, if it is the case, is why all urban and CQB. I am not a fan of CQB games as they tend to get repetitious, as in SWAT 4 and RVS. GR and GR 2 were not urban, so why the shift, why not even 50-50 between Mexico City and the coastal jungle/desert locales? Who wanted an all urban GR? I am sure this will be addressed in mission packs, but, the question remains, why urban?
  4. On Ubi, look at the version and mods in use, if they are using mods, they will be using DS and IT. GR only servers are extremely rare.
  5. If GR supported 9, then GRAW should support more, at least 12 to 16.
  6. This shows some nice features. I like the ability to peek up as well as lean out. The light bloom effect shows better in this movie as it shows how your eyes adjust to the light going from shadow to light. The destructibility of the environment is very good, especially car explosions. Good movie.
  7. Each bit of news is more encouraging, they are going back to the classic recon, tac map and waypoints, multiple squads and ability to control each squad directly. Now we need news about modding. Maps and environments can be made to vary in mission packs and sequels, also there may be some variation in the original, but, it's the gameplay that is foremost.
  8. He might mean not being able to move while reloading, which is hard coded and cannot be changed.
  9. I don't see why MP coop cannot support 16 players. The light bloom effect needs to be toned down.
  10. It sounds a little like the posture control in RVS except that maybe you lean out in graduated steps, as long as you can pull back in quickly. The problem with the standing lean in GR was that it exposed your body. On the other side of the debate, this will or may start a huge argument that this is a form of glitching in MP.
  11. If the game is good, mission packs and sequels will probably expand the lcations, if it is bad, the point is moot.
  12. I thought I read that the advanced lean means that the gun leans out left or right, depending which way you are leaning.
  13. You just cannot get them away from the single character game, that's favored by all the arcade games, complex squad structure is something that is not in vogue, you may not soon see it in gaming again. All the games I play are squad based games, they are the only ones with tactical realism.
  14. I hope these are early renders because they either are low resolution or they don't look very good. I see that poor Xbox 360 reticle in one shot. I thought the game was further along in development.
  15. He would warn that Mexico has stockpiled weapons of mass destruction and invade. The CIA would release data that indicated the Zappatistas were collaborating with Al Queda. Vincente Fox would be given 3 days to go to Cuba. Given that the Army and Marines are tied up in Iraq, only a 4 man team would be sent to effect the regime change, plus a couple of gunships. Given the state of the Mexican army, it would be sufficient.
  16. I just downloaded a new mod by Sixpence, In The Line Of Fire, a desert mod, with lots of different maps. Also, there is a new Vietnam mod, called Platoon, at Ghostaholic, you can stalk some Vietcong while waiting for YOTM.
  17. It is if you live near Laredo or New Mexico, 2 states have declared a state of emergency over the violence.
  18. The command system from GR 2 is very poor, too imprecise and limited. The squad order system for GRAW PC needs to be far more robust. I would love to see the return to a GR style squad system with waypoints and ROE, combined with context sensitive commands like GR 2 or RVS, but, the truth is that games are getting dumber, not smarter. Without tactical squad control, open maps and mod tools, this game will fade quickly.
  19. It sounds like certain missions will feature other AI squad(s) that you will have a level of control over. I have seen screens where the main character has control over 2 Apache gunships. There is only one main squad, but, the ability to split it up into multiple units is much better than just having one unit. More needs to be revealed about the precision of the control over the squad members. Not being able to toggle off the weapon view does not bother me, but, it will bother other purists. I like the different level of AI intelligence.
  20. White Skull Valley Battleborne Traffic Columbia Mosque Great Wall Sniper Town Omaha WOI maps (desert and pacific) CCM Iwo Jima
  21. That was one of the few things I liked about GR 2, but, it would have to be limited in a campaign to a couple of missions, maybe lone wolf, and there would have to be kit restrictions for MP, it could be unlocked in quick mission.
  22. I just hope this crap stays in 360 land where it belongs.
  23. You are so not alone, you are in the same opinion of many of us who want a return to the GR sandbox, and not the arcade gameplay of GR 2. Welcome to the forum.
  24. You should be able to get Demon Rage (by Sixpence, based on TOTS) at www.rainbowsix.org in mods section.
  25. You use your Ghost Recon cd to start the game and activate Desert Seige in the mod section in options, then start new campaign in DS.
