"Squad control is via a command map interface as in GR1, there are even actual grids incoperated in it per fan request. The devs listen to us and are trying to give us everything we want."
If squad command is with the tac map (good stuff!) and you can split the squad, does that mean you can control each man separately, giving you 3 squads of 1 man each, or how do you split the squad? And there are no context sensitive orders in GRAW? Can you order your squad or a man to attack a specific target like a tank?

I wonder if the coop restriction is related to the game engine for SP. If the SP missions and hence the coop missions include live ride on or fly in insertions, maybe the game engine bases the size of the squad and placement to 5 men only.
On the other hand, they could make coop missions with simple spawn insertions. If modding was properly supported, modders could easily make insertion points that could accomodate more players.
The other thing is that the cross com and other game features may be structured in the engine to only support the squad structure from SP.
If MP coop does have live insertions with full interaction and cross com, then coop will be very good.
I am just guessing at this point.

The coop limit is my only real concern because it will make it harder to get into games on good servers, and how many can run multiple servers. It seems that the reason is to replicate the SP game in coop, but the larger limit in coop is better to allow more people to play together, better for clans and tounaments, and better if modders ramp up the difficulty in modded missions. On that point, I now wonder if you will even be able to make modded missions for SP or coop, otherwise how would you be able to create superb coop mods like Alpha mod or Tactical Gamer mod. It should be a server admin decision to limit the player limit to 2 or 4 or whatever, the max limit should be at least as much as the original game.

Sounds good overall, except:
- you can split the squad, but not control the other unit directly, I thought I read where you could jump into that unit and control it directly.
- MP coop limited to 2 to 4 players, that is really poor. I do not understand this constraint one bit.
- cannot toggle weapon view, hope they change that.
- no replays.

If they dump him, they should dump the head of Homeland Security, which is responsible for FEMA. The director told more lies about the state of things in New Orleans, it's a wonder he could keep the lies straight. His duplicity in news conferences and inaction are inexcusable.
FEMA should be restored to it's own cabinet office again and have it's funding restored. The fact that 3 college students could drive their Elantra from the National Guard checkpoint to the Convention Centre in 20 minutes, when the Homeland Security Director was saying the roads were impassable was ludicrous.
I have never been there, but, it looks like Lake Pontchartrain could be devastated ecologically with the toxic water being pumped into it, although there is no alternative. The environmental clean up of the ground alone will be a staggering engineering endeavour.

I was going to suggest some mods, but, when I read that he slept with my wife, I changed my mind.
After I thought about it some more, I decided to send a sympathy card.

The most popular online mod is Harntrox 5 Red Sun.

If you can toggle the weapon view off, the point is moot and you can see more of the screen.

- Starship Troopers - bad beyond imagination.
- Bet On Soldier
- Blitzkreig 2

You have to kill the guys in the house first, then his posture will change to hostage behaviour.

In mission 13, the objective completion message will not trigger with the death of the east platoon. The trigger to start the column requires the objective counter equal to 2. I don't know how to fix the trigger to get the objective complete for the east platoon, so I changed the script trigger for the convoy from 2 to 1. That means that after you kill the west platoon, the convoy will start. You will still have enemy on the opposite hill from you but their elimination is optional. The elimination of the convoy will complete the mission.

It looks like "The Farm" mod.

Both the assassinate mission and assassinate gametypes are available at www.ghostaholic.com

I'd like to see the issue of the max limit for MP coop addressed, I hope they increase it from 5.
"Up to 32 players will be able to join the multiplayer mode. "
I doubt this refers to coop, sounds like adversarial.
"Will the Cross-Com be used in MP?
Yes of course the CrossCom will be used in multiplayer games. Keeping this feature is essential and will allow us to maintain the tactical depth of the game while playing online. "
What does this mean?
"Will GR maintain it's 1 shot-1 kill standard?
This option will still be available at higher difficulty levels, and it will be scalable in multiplayer games. "
I wonder if this applies to SP? I hope they don't make the hit damage more like an arcade model.
What do you think?

On mission 13, I can't seem to get it to complete. I have secured both the east and west camps. The problem is that the convoy never starts
, which means, of course, I can't ambush it in the ambush zone.Any ideas? Am I missing something?
Thanks!
I did this mission recently and the same thing happened, there was no objective completion message after clearing the second hill, then the convoy did not get triggered. I tried to open the script in Igor, but it wouldn't load. Best you can do is use "autowin" and move on.

In truth, console gamers are no further ahead in terms of information than pc gamers, we all want more, especially movies.

Are you referring to the mission "Assassination" or a gametype from a mod?
-
There are a lot of good mission campaigns, starting with Operation Stabilise. Campaigns like Bravo 2-5, Under The Blood Sun, Tage Des Zorns, Direct Action, and Line of Fire use a lot of new maps. Also, some great new maps like Traffic Columbia, White Skull Valley, The Farm, Downtown, Great Wall, The Mosque.

If the feature comparable to the sensor is the use of recon UAVs, it seems to me that would be restricted to SP only, probably not even coop. That would be the most sensible decision. That would leave no recon capability in MP except the proverbial Mark 1 eyeball, which is as it should be. Sensors should have been restricted entirely in MP. Let's hope that this or any other type of recon feature is omitted from MP.

Is it too much to ask for both?

In the movies, it was always depicted as a romantic escapist idea or a way to start a new life, maybe to escape from a criminal past. The discipline and regimen used to be brutal. I think they are called in to protect French interests and citizens during crises in foreign commands, to extract people from crisis areas.

Import the GR 2 maps as a mission pack for GR 3, in that game engine, and I will buy it.

With respect to the game, I prefer to see helis and armor that are in the current inventory to any futuristic artist rendering of what may be in use in 8 or 9 years.

I have been thinking more about this and while I would prefer a balance of map environments ( and there is no reason to believe that GRAW will not have a balance), my aversion to urban only settings is largely due to the fact that they have been done so badly in the recent past.
SWAT 4 and RVS are not comparable because they are police and anti terrorist hostage rescue games that are not about urban street combat, but, are nearly entirely interior, room clearing games. GRAW is a military combat shooter about modern urban city wide street combat. It is the confining and repetitive nature of all interior maps like SWAT 4 that make the SP somewhat boring after a while. GRAW should be primarily and nearly all outside, with large open maps, which offers far more interesting gameplay than the corridor shooters.
I am trying to think of a game that has done this reasonably well. First To Fight is my best example of how not to do it, that game, aside from all the many other problems, was at bottom an arcade corridor shooter.
In the modern era, large scale urban combat is a new development, seen mostly in places like Fallujah, or in Bagdad during the combat phase of the war. GRAW could be ther first modern shooter that does large city scale urban combat well. I don't include BF 2 or JO, because I don't know if they have large city maps and they do not have an SP component.
The key is the size of the maps and their openness.

Will just have to wait for more info to surface, I'm curious about the mechanics of the system. If you have a split squad, how do you address that squad as a unit? If the other man is with you, how do you give him orders? All of this type of old school squad control is good news.
