When are they going to make a movie about Carlos Hathcock, arguably, the greatest sniper who ever picked up a rifle? Overdue!

New Record For longest sniper kill shot...
Kurtz replied to Scott Mitchell's topic in Real World Military
A sniper with Canada's elite special forces in Iraq has shattered the world record for the longest confirmed kill shot in military history at a staggering distance of 3,540 metres. The Canadian Armed Forces confirmed Thursday that a member of Joint Task Force 2 made the record-breaking shot, killing an Islamic State insurgent during an operation in Iraq within the last month. "The Canadian Special Operations Command can confirm that a member of Joint Task Force 2 successfully hit a target at 3,540 metres," the forces said in a statement. "For operational security reasons and to preserve the safety of our personnel and our Coalition partners we will not discuss precise details on when and how this incident took place." The elite sniper was using a McMillan TAC-50 sniper rifle while firing from a high-rise during an operation that took place within the last month in Iraq. It took under 10 seconds to hit the target. "The shot in question actually disrupted a Daesh [Islamic State] attack on Iraqi security forces," said a military source. "Instead of dropping a bomb that could potentially kill civilians in the area, it is a very precise application of force and because it was so far way, the bad guys didn't have a clue what was happening." From the Globe & Mail, June 21, 2017 by Robert Fife. Canada now has 3 of the top 5 longest sniper shots on record. -
Is it unfair to say that Wildlands is basically going to be Future Soldier in an open world with some graphic engine enhancements. I don't play online so I assume the AI will be autonomous as in FS and not controllable.

Sixteen UN member nations contributed to the defense of South Korea, including 26,000 Canadians. The most notable Canadian engagements were at Kapyong and Hill 355. A Canadian pilot with the USAF was the first Commonwealth pilot to shoot down a Mig fighter. We never forget the sacrifice.

It looks and plays like GRFS in a large open game world. Looks interesting. At least an alternative to COD and BF.

Looked at the new gameplay trailer, such beautiful graphics, such poor gameplay. Irony. The new COD is called Ghosts. "Squinting" Watched a gameplay vid for Armed Assault 3, never once saw an enemy that was shooting at the player, it looked like he was just shooting where the AI was shooting, the enemy AI could see and shoot clearly across the map.Rediculous. Does anyone know how to make a proper game these days?

What good are these new consoles if there are no decent games?

I thought the gameplay was standard 3rd person but fun, but the story was very well done, analagous to Apocalyse Now, with conflicted characters and multiple endings.

Is there only local coop and no online coop. I see that Guerrilla coop mode is local only.

You can find the series on Bittorrent if you are not philosophically opposed to such things.

1. Sniper Elite V2 Sequel to a pc game from 2005, first iteration on console. 2. Max Payne 3 3. Ghost Recon Future Soldier 4. Spec Ops The Line 5.Rainbow Six Patriots 6. Far Cry 3 They say they fixed the poor element from FC2. Any other interesting shooters in the near or far distance?

The movie was well done and the action scenes were realistic. Couple of things, in one scene they emerged from underwater, can you actually immerse an M4 in water like that? In another scene, a SEAL was hit in the chest with an RPG at close range, it did not explode and he shook it off, I would think that impact would kill someone. I don't know why they did not use real missions like Bin Laden or the Somali pirates rescue, even if they had to fictionalize it a bit.

Just an unmissable target for a Typhoon or a Mustang.

One gun I saw appeared to be the Kriss Vector .45 SMG, that has a proprietary system to reduce recoil. I shot a semi auto version of that gun at a gun range and it really had no recoil, evem less than an MP5. On the other hand, when I returned to the same range months later, that gun was not there. They got rid of it because it kept breaking down. If the company got the bugs out, it would be a great SMG for close range with the rate of fire and control.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier - re-imagined, rearmed revolution
Kurtz replied to Rocky's topic in GR:FS - Xbox 360
By abandoning squad control altogether due to our short attention span, GRFS cuts the last tie to the original GR, Now it's just a variant of COD. -
Why has this game had such a troubled development? Doesn't bode well.

I have also seen worse. I have also played better. -
Thank goodness they don't distract from the graphics by introducing real gameplay.

Could it be more scripted? Same stuff, different name. -
First, the SEAL team had no idea he was unarmed, he could have had a weapon, a grenade or even a detonator for a booby trap. If he was going to surrender, he would have had to have his hands up and open, otherwise, he is resisting and you take the shot. Any furtive movement on his part could be anything, reaching for a weapon or a grenade. You only have a split second to make that judgement, and I would never second guess those operators. However, he had no intention to surrender, Bin Laden was a hard core jihadist, he was wounded in Afghanistan several times, he would never give himself up to Americans. The operators made the only decision they could, the documents seized should be very revealing.

I am interested in opinions in the new F35 JSF fighter, especially in terms of its capabilities, cost overruns and estimated maintenance costs. I am Canadian and the government here has tentatively ordered 65 of the F35A variant, which is the basic and least expensive model. The costs per plane are widely estimated as high as 150 million per plane. The Canadian government states they have a guaranteed price of 75 million per plane, which seems illogical, since the US government cannot by law sell military hardware to another country less than it sells to its own military. What do you think the price per plane will be at full production, which I believe is in 2016? What have you heard about the progress of testing?

Is this a preview of the Kinect version of GRFS?

As good as the demo looked, it looked like you are progressing through a script that you have to follow, through a very linear path. That is typical of shooters these days in order for their complicated scripted events to run properly but it you feel that you have no real control over the sequence of events. The problem with this crop of scripted shooters is that the shooting is diminished because of the constant enemy respawning and the frenetic pace. There is no thought required as to what to do next because the path is so limited that there is no alternative and enemies spawn practically in front of you. Add a timer to this or a need to proceed as fast as possible and no real thought is required, just reflex. It should be pointed out that the GRAW and RSV games gave you some alternative approaches in a limited space and also time to think about your next move. I do give GRFS full credit for appearing to make this game far more tactical and thoughtful that offerings by COD and MOH.
