    Online Game Setup Question

    1. For instructions on how to foreword ports on your router > Click Here

    so for GR (Add a Service) :

      the service name = Ghost Recon
      the start port = 2346
      the end port = 2349
      the Server IP Address = this is the IP of the machine hosting GR (Launch a DOS window and type ipconfig to show the IP of that PC)

    *if you are using the ubi.com servers you will also need to make more entries (as above for GR) for the following ports:

      80: Usual Web Port
      6667: Usual Chat Port
      40000-42000: Required Ports for ubi.com

    2. On the PC that is hosting GR. Go to Network connections, then right click on the relevant network connection and select properties, then select "advanced" and make sure the box under "Internet connection firewall" is unchecked.

    3. To get your current External IP just click here > My IP.com this is the IP you need to give to the other players.

    1. It depends on where you play....

    I play on UBI,

    :P Why do you think most of us here wouldn't touch the UBI servers with a 10ft barge pole ;)

    2. and who you play with....

    Most of us here, play in member hosted sessions or on the sites dedi game server (when its up) with people we know and trust and have been playing GR for years and can count the number of "cheating incidents" on one hand

    There will always be people who cheat, no matter the safeguards, but in the end they only cheat themselves

    Try finding some better games with a good crowd (like in the games room here) if you want to enjoy GR as its meant to be

    :)

    Mydoom / Novarg Virus

    As many of you know there is a new Virus out that is currently infecting machines all over the place and is on course to be the "largest virus outbreak in months".

    It is known as one of the following aliases:


    • Mydoom
    • Mimail.R,
    • Novarg.A,
    • Shimg,
    • W32.Novarg.A@mm,
    • W32/Mydoom@MM

    My mother received an infected e-mail just a few hours ago but fortunately Norton Anti-Virus stopped it dead. :thumbsup:

    So to those of you with decent AV software, I recommend you update your signature files asap before downloading any e-mail.

    This is a great little utility. :thumbsup:

    I previously used XAcePlus to extract .ace and .rar archives but IZArc is even simpler and easier to use.

    an added bonus with IZArc is that once it's installed you can just right click on the archive file and select "extract" using the mouse menu, so no more having to launch an application and then go through the "File > Open" routine

    Just 3 simple clicks and the archive is extracted in seconds :)

    well heres one way.

    Start IGOR. At the top select TOOLS and then ACTOR EDITOR.

    A box will then open up. You will have to LOAD the .atr files to view the info.

    In the top right corner is a box marked NAME. This is where you will find your answer.

    And another way is to just double click on the .atr file and use notepad to view/edit them.

    LA officials call for end to master/slave labels

    The computing world's venerable master/slave naming convention has come under fire by Los Angeles county officials who charge that this type of product description is offensive.

    A discrimination complaint has been filed with the county's Office of Affirmative Action Compliance after one county worker saw a video recording device with the "slave" and "master" tags, according to Reuters. The complaint was enough to call county officials into action, asking vendors to re-label their gear.

    "Based on the cultural diversity and sensitivity of Los Angeles County, this is not an acceptable identification label," Joe Sandoval, division manager of purchasing and contract services, said in a memo sent to County vendors and obtained by Reuters.

    "We would request that each manufacturer, supplier and contractor review, identify and remove/change any identification or labeling of equipment components that could be interpreted as discriminatory or offensive in nature," Sandoval said in the memo, which was distributed last week.

    Sandoval has received some emails from angry technophiles suggesting that he be fired for his sweeping renaming proposal. The worker, however, maintains that he was not handing down an ultimatum for change but rather a suggestion that vendors see what they can do.

    And all this time we thought the master/slave connection had its roots in the world of whips and chains -a notion supported by the dog collar-wearing admins.
