NP, Glad it was helpful as you said, we regularly post that info here but in myriad different posts, and drawing it all together in one FAQ was something that had been on my to-do list for a while, your post just was just the catalyst I needed You should find a list of GR dedi servers posted in a pinned topic at the top of the games room forum. and of course this site runs it's own GR server Details here -> GhostRecon.net Dedicated Server where you are sure to bump in to all the forum regulars. But for those just starting out in MP, one of the best games I can highly rec

Port forwarding for Internet Connection Sharing On the gateway PC (the one with direct connection to Internet) 1. select Start -> Settings -> select your Internet connection 2. Properties -> Advanced -> Settings -> Add 3. Enter a Description of the Services (Eg Ghost Recon 1,2,3.. Etc) 4. Enter the IP of the PC that will be playing/hosting GR 5. For the internal/external port numbers, you need to add 2346, 2347, 2348 & 2349 both UDP and TCP. for ICS you need to make one service for each of the ports Click here for > ICS forwarding Screen shot

How to Disable XP's built in firewall On the PC that is hosting/playing GR. 1. Go to Network connections, 2. Right click on the relevant network connection and select properties 3. Select "advanced" and make sure the box under "Internet connection firewall" is unchecked.

How to find out your external IP Address Depending on your system set-up the IP that Ghost Recon lists "in game" is the internal IP of that specific PC, not the external IP of your router/modem To find out your current External IP just visit one of these sites: http://www.whatsmyip.org http://www.whatismyip.com/ http://findmyip.com/ http://whatismyipaddress.com/ http://whatsmyip.net/ http://www.whatsmyip.us/ http://www.auditmypc.com/whats-my-ip.asp this is the IP you need to give to the other players when you are Hosting a game.

Ports used by Ghost Recon If playing or hosting behind a router you will need to foreword the ports used by the game from the router to the PC: The exact method will vary depending on the make of router - See portforward.com for step-by-step guides for most router's. Some will want one entry for each port: Some will allow a range to be specified: *if you are using the ubi.com servers you will also need to make more entries (as above for GR) for the following ports: 80: Usual Web Port 6667: Usual Chat Port 40000-42000: Required Ports for ubi.com

Hosting by direct IP Most of us here wouldn't touch the ubi servers with a 10ft barge pole. The easiest (and IMHO the best) way to host is by direct IP: For the Host: 1. Launch GR 2. Activate any mods 3. Select multiplayer 4. Select "Internet" 5. Select "create game" 6. Select the desired server settings. 7. Post the External IP in a games room forum (like the one here) or send it to friends via ICQ/E-mail/MSN Etc) For the Client: 1. Launch GR 2. Activate any mods 3. Select multiplayer 4. Select "Internet" 5. Type the hosts external IP address into the box (and PW if th

.mis files always go in the mission folder. It depends which maps the the mission is based on as to which of the Origmiss/Mp1/Mp2 should be used. If in doubt use MP2 as that way it'll alway have GR/DS/IT enabled whenever it is used. for 12 weeks you can use > ~Ghost Recon\Mods\Origmiss\Mission

Yep, that just sucks...Oh well doesn't look like I'll have to split my time between Joint Ops and GR2 after all

Great work DS those videos were good, actually getting to see an example of the destructable object was very nice, the way the tower collapsed after the AT4 hit.

Please lets not have any of the GR2 or GR2 3rd person saga spill over into the GR1 forum. GR2 stuff should be kept to the GR2 forum. and that whole GR2 3rd person saga has been sorted by the post here > GR2 Forum \ Concerning 1st/3rd person view You wouldn't want SB to come down here and start locking stuff now would ya

you dont for ICS you need to make one service for each of the ports Like this : #1. = 2346 TCP #2. = 2346 UDP #3. = 2347 TCP #4. = 2347 UDP #5. = 2348 TCP #6. = 2348 UDP

One important thing to bear in mind folks is that to mod the Joint Ops Demo you must also own DF:Black Hawk Down as you need to use the Mission/Map Editor that comes with it and this cannot legally be downloaded or obtained separately. So if you want to mod the Demo you need to buy DF:BHD... but hey it's a great game too so if you can find it in the discount section then go for it. Of course when the retail version of Joint Ops is released it will include a full and specific Mission/Map Editor for JO.

Pave Low replied to Talljess's topic in GR - General Mod Topics
I guess you have only posted in the General Off Topic Forum and the posts there don't count towards you post count. Yeah, you posted in the wrong forum this should have been in the modding forum, I'll move it for ya Topic moved to corect forum and title amended to show subject, As this is a very FAQ there is already a pinned topic there Recommended mods, by forum members and Being as I'm a nice guy, I've also credited you for those posts -
The FilePlanet D/L link is > soldnerbetademo_v2.exe *The subscriber servers are OK, but there is a 36-44 minute queue on the public servers.

See the Recon section for mission walkthroughs. Click here > Mission 04: Black Needle for how to complete this one. OK, here's a special Hint: In the scripting of this mission the UN troops are set to invincible (IE they cant die) until you enter a certain part of the map just before the ruins, then a timer starts (21 seconds or 61 if difficulty is set to easy) and then they become vulnerable again, so dont go rushing hell for leather to the ruins as that will just hasten their deaths, you can take your time initially until you get past the crossroads and are halfway to the

Not really without more information. IE Names of these mods, Etc.. *Have you checked inside the folder of the mod to make sure there is a ModsCont.txt file at that level and that it isn't inside another folder as some mods create two folders: as you should see: and not: *Is the "mod" actually a mod as some are just .MIS or .GTF files and these need to be put inside the mission folder of Origmiss(or MP1/MP2) and not in the mods folder.

To unactivate mods from outside GR just edit your modsset.txt file (found in the root of the GR folder) so it looks exactly like this (providing you have the DS+IT expansion packs): to delete mods, just delete the folder from the mods folder, but before you take this drastic step have you tried running HX5 with just DS+IT active and no other mods ? as you may get conflicts if you have too many mods active at the same time. The error you are getting seems to be because GR cant find the sniper-43.atr and IIRC this is an actor file from the Canadian Operatives 2 mod.
