  1. Hey Gorilla,

You probably already know this but, in case you don't, there are arrows beneath each of the weapons kits "categories" which allow you to choose 1 of several different kits in each category. For example, there are 12 "rifleman" kits to choose from.

If you already know this then your other option would be to download a mod like "brettzies" and use the weapons kits in that mod.

If you play GRAW2, I am making a mod right now that uses just the regular weapons that come with the game but in new and (in some cases) more powerful combinations. My mod should be ready for release in a week or so. Check the GRAW2 "weapons modding" forums for more details.

There are tons of weapons mods for the original "ghost recon" and "graw1" available in the "downloads" section of this site.

    Hope that helps,

    Rahn

  2. I'm so confused  .

OK, so you are going to rename the "server" version and have it as separate download. But then you are going to include the same mission in a "4 pack" bundle (like you always do) with a different name. Won't this mean that we will now have the same version of a mission (xxxx_day_v2) in our custom levels folder twice (with 2 different names)?

Can you not split your 4 versions differently and have the "server" version as a bundle and the other 3 versions as another bundle? To have them in the same zipped folder is a good idea since everyone could then get all 4 versions in one download. Does this make sense............I need a drink! :P

  3. Bogie,

I tried the new version and like it much better. The only question I have is about the extraction. I was in the middle of clearing out some advancing AI when I was abruptly extracted. Is this what you intended? I would have liked to have the chance to hold the position a little while longer.

I like the first fall back position much better now. A piece of wreckage blew over the ramp and blocked access to the buildings (and the zoos, lol), but the cover was much better and should allow for maneuvering. I like the fact that the trees cover the heli and make it more difficult to dispense with. It makes it much more exciting to have to contend with it for an extended period of time.

  4. Hey EBK,

It's good to hear from you and I'm glad you like to mod. I've been tempted to try and add some of Brettzies' weapons (and a few of my own) to the mod, but that will have to wait for another day (and a different mod). It seems there are several modders who are attempting this at the moment and I would like to wait and see what they are able to do. I have put in some weapon sights from both Brettzies' and SnowFella's mods, however, and have incorporated Brettzies animations for the aimpoint sight on both the shotgun and the SAW. So there are some new things in the mod.

If there is a weapons kit that you would like to have but that is not already in the mod let me know what it is and I will put it in for you. I'm glad you liked John and Anthony's kits. It seems the Rx4 kits are everybody's favorites.

    Cheers,

    Rahn

  5. Hey Rafael,

Now that I think about it, I remember Brettzie saying that he put something in the "Read Me" file of his weapons pack which gives permission for anyone to use parts of his mod. All he usually asks is for some credit in your "Read Me" file for your mod (or the equivalent). I would check his read me file and see if he gives permission there as it might save you some time. In my experience Brettzie almost always gets back to me but he can sometimes take a little while. His help is always worth waiting for though (lol). Hope this helps.

  6. Of course there is also the issue of managing a dedicated server. It's one thing to have to manage your custom levels folder(s) and move missions in and out of different folders, but if you are an admin of a server the problem becomes more acute. I need to check into just how much space we are allowed in our server files. I know that some of the more recent bundle files take 30+ minutes to upload to the server. Once we reach the ceiling on storage space I can see us having to manage the server files in the same way, only we will likely have to delete bundles rather than move them to another folder. This translates into a lot of time re-uploading bundle files. Once again, I'll have to check to see just how much space we are allowed.

Here is my opinion for what it's worth (not much, lol). In the past year we have gone from having maybe a dozen missions to play to ....... well...... a LOT more. Many of the newer missions take a squad over an hour to play. This means that on a typical practice night we might get through 2 missions. We play together twice a week. At that rate we could play for months w/o repeating a mission. Most of us are 35+ years old and don't really enjoy having to strain our eyes for the night or fog missions. We play the squad/day version. So for us there is only one version of any given mission that we would run on our server. I would really like to see there be a "server" version of any given mission that would just be the day version, with the rest of the variations included in a separate download.

I think this would help with the files on the PC as well. I can keep all the files that we run on the server in one folder and all the variations in another. Then when I want to create my own server and play some of the sp versions or other variations, I can just rename a few folders and have at it. This would work very well for me. I can see, however, that it might not work well at all for someone else. At any rate, there is my opinion.

    Cheers,

    Rahn

  7. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just when we were hanging our heads in despair............When it seemed that all hope was gone.............No more way cool custom landscapes in which to apply our trade..............

There's no need to fear, LOBOFIERO is HERE!!!!! w00tw00tw00tw00tw00t

We've been waiting for a long time man, it's good to see that your back! It's true that the tdm servers run the same old maps ad nauseum, but the coop world is thriving and desperately in search of those who have your skills in map making. Hopefully you will just be the first of many to return. This is AWESOME news (I'm trying not to sound too excited  )

  8. I don't understand why it would be difficult to separate the missions. Why change the names of the missions at all. Couldn't you just take one version (squad version, day) and bundle it separately? I think this topic would be good for a separate thread though. This is something that we need to address. I think that having all the different versions of the same mission is a great idea since the variety of AI placement keeps the mission exciting and ads to its longevity. However, it would be good to have some consensus as to just how many versions are really necessary or how to configure multiple bundles.

  9. *Due to the amount of missions we now include in the bundle files we are now reaching the limit as to what GRAW2 can handle.

I had the same thing happen to me when I loaded Bogie's "lavamiento" mission. I tried doing what Anthony suggested and moved this mission to its own custom levels folder and had no problem running the mission. I now have 2 "custom levels" folders. One has all the tdm's, HH, Seige etc maps in it. The other has all the coop missions. Seems to work pretty well for now. Still, that may only be for the time being. I think it would be good to try and address this issue in some way. It may be a good idea to have options when downloading a mission. Like Anthony, we usually only play the "hardcore" day mission and that's about it. It would be nice to have an option to only download that mission and have another option to download all the alternative missions as well. I like having the variations, but it is definitely causing problems.

  10. Bogie,

The TAW boys tried this one out on Thursday. I think you ought to give it a go and complete it. I think it would be a good idea to place some more fencing at the starting point for the lone wolf player. Also it would be nice to make the first meeting place a little bigger and have the structures themselves be indestructible. Don't know if this is possible but as it is it makes for tight maneuvering in a lot of debris. It might be too tight if there are several players in game.

I like that you have tried to do something with this map and look forward to what the night mission will be like. The thing that I really like about your missions is the maps that you use (create). I would like to see you keep going with your GRAW1 conversions as well. I really enjoyed playing "pollux" mission.

    Cheers,

    Rahn

  11. Hey all,

This is the last version that I will put up for beta testing. I have finished putting all the kits together. I have also put everyone's name above their kits in the "weapons select" screen. I have done this so that everyone will have an easier time of finding their kit and also as a way of saying "thanks" for testing out the mod. Also, some weaponsights and other mods do not show up in the pictures of the weapons. This has been very frustrating for me because it doesn't allow players to see what's really in the kit. On some of these kits I have put a description of what scope/sight or mod is in the kit so that they will know and will try the kit.

There are a few little additions and subtractions here and there, but I think this mod is near completion. Please give it a whirl and let me know of any issues that might arise. Don't forget to read the "READ ME" file for a complete description of the changes for this version.

    Thanks,

  12. Hey Rafael,

If you want to get a faster reply from them you should try sending them a "personal message" (PM). To do so look at the top of this screen after you have logged in. Look for the icons that say "view new posts".......... Click on "new messages". Inside that menu click on "write new message" (left hand side). Then just send an message to Snowfella and Brettzie.

BTW, it's spelled "Brettzies" and "SnowFella". I hope you get permission because I think this mod would be pretty cool to try. Can't wait to play it.

  13. Hey Guys,

I have put most of the special kit requests in and am about to release my final beta for this mod. In the next version you will actually be able to see your name above your kit.

i.e. Instead of seeing "Demolitions 1" and then the kit choice you will see your name "TAW_Rahnman" (imagine your name being here) and then the kit underneath.

I think this will be a cool way of recognizing everyone who tested the mod and contributed to its release. So I'll say it ONE LAST TIME. Get your requests in now.

Almost anything is possible so get your DREAM kits to me soon.

    Later,

    Rahn

  14. With regard to the Brettzie's mod, which version did you download? Was it the bundled version or the unbundled version?

If it is the bundled version then installation is pretty easy. Just install it into your "ghost recon advanced warfighter 2" folder. Make sure that when you unzip the file that this folder is at the end of the filepath and that nothing else comes after it. Every time the unzip utility asks for a filepath, make sure it ends with that folder.

For Example: C:/program files/UBISOFT/ghost recon advanced warfighter 2

If you keep doing this then the files will automatically be placed in all the correct sub-folders.

To run the mod, double click on the "brettzies weapons pack v2.05" BATCH file. This file will be inside the GRAW2 folder mentioned above once the mod is installed.

If you have the unbundled version, you will have to transfer the files manually. I'll tell you how if necessary but it is best to try the bundled version first.

    Good Luck!

    TAW_Rahnman

  15. Bogie,

I KNEW YOU WOULD SAY THAT! :P

I totally understand your perspective and respect that. There are many different ways that I like to play this game. Sometimes I like to play realistically and sometimes I don't. I enjoy playing with AGB using the regular weapons very much and I also enjoy blowing up everything in sight, lol.

When I originally learned how to mod the weapons kits I did so out of a desire to have a greater flexibility when I played by myself. I didn't care about how realistic it was. I was just fun. I showed some of my fellow team members what I could do and they wanted kits of their own. That's just where we are right now and we enjoy it. To be sure it makes it a little easier and requires less teamwork, but that doesn't mean that teamwork is not important to us or that we don't employ it. Interestingly, having more weapons did not improve my scores any. Eventually you get to the point that, for the most part, the only AI that get you are the ones that you don't see or don't see soon enough. Having more firepower doesn't help in that department, so tactics are still important.

I certainly hope that having a greater flexibility of choice doesn't ruin the game. That is not my intention. Like you said, I think it is a matter of perspective. Unlike you, having the weapons I want actually makes the game more fun for me. If I had not been able to change the kits I would have set this game aside long ago.

BTW, the real reason I mentioned the OMG! kit was to stir up some interest and get people to post. These here forums have been quiet of late (holidays no doubt). I probably won't include it in the final release. Thanks for sharing your opinion, I really do appreciate it. Also, thanks for the missions. You and John are single (double?, lol) handedly keeping this game alive, weapon mods notwithstanding.

  16. Ares/Anthony,

I'm glad you guys finally got a chance to try out the mod. I know its hard to find time over the holidays so I really appreciate it.

Ares, I'll put a kit in with your spec's. Most of the kits that I have already assembled don't have much (if any) smoke grenades in them. My squad doesn't use smoke hardly at all because we have found it to be largely ineffective against AI. Have you had success with using smoke?

Also, you mentioned 3 different primary weapons - which one do you like best? Which secondary do you like best? I don't know of any "flashbangs" in this game so I assume you were joking. I would love to have them in the game but it's beyond my ability to do.

As far as the M99 goes, I have set it to have a 5 round clip. That means you will have 5 shots before you need to reload (instead of the normal 1 shot/reload). So if you see that the M99 has "20" rounds, what that really means is that you have "20" 5 round clips, which makes a total of 100 rounds. I think that having a 5 round clip for this type of weapon is very reasonable by today's standards and is not too unrealistic. If 30-40 rounds is what you want, I will make a kit for you. Just let me know.

I'm not familiar with Inzane's 3rd person mod so let me know how this goes for you.

Anthony, I'm glad you like the mod. If there is a particular kit you would like that is not currently in the mod, please let me know.

Also, it would be good to note that this mod doesn't just have kits in it with huge arsenals of weapons to choose from (although there are plenty of those, lol). It also has all the original kits in it as well as some "medium" kits that are beefed up just a little compared to the original kits. I have also added a new classification of kits called "scout" (for now) that include just one weapon, a few clips and 1 grenade. In short, I wanted to make a mod that would fit every style of play and work for every situation. If you are playing one of Bogie's/John's missions by yourself, you will want some serious firepower. If you are playing the same mission with a whole squad, you could have everyone restrict themselves to the "scout" kits or original kits just for kicks. The idea is to make a mod that everyone will want to use and that will add to the enjoyment of the game.

FYI, I have also added another kit classification that will be in the next version. I think I'm going to call it "OMG!!" or something similar. It will have only one kit but so far this is what I have in it:

    RX4 - scoped, silenced, GL

    M99

    Glock - silenced

    10 grenades

    M32 GL with 30 reloads

Shotgun with aimpoint sight and 42 reloads

SWEEEEET!!! Just when you though you couldn't carry any more (and you couldn't)!!

    Thanks again guys,

    Rahnman

BTW Ares, I saw your video .......... AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys did a great job. I loved the over the shoulder views and how you were pushing the action ...... Fantastic!! Thanks for mentioning me at the end. Although, to be fair to the real modders, you should have put me in a "lesser modder" category. :P

  17. Hey John,

Thanks for the feedback. I keep forgetting to change the version number in the "mod_version" file. It will be correct in the next version I put out. I still have some changes that I want to add and some kits that I want to put in yet, but I've got most of the work done and am almost ready to release the mod. NOW'S THE TIME TO SEND ME YOUR KIT REQUESTS!!! :D

I think you're right about the SCAR-H. I'll put it in single shot for the next version, which I hope will be the last beta version.

I have no idea how to go about making a intro video. I'll ask Brettzie, maybe Ares will have some ideas .......... :hmm:

    Cheers,

    Rahn

  18. Hello All,

I have been hard at it reworking all the kits and now have version 1.3 ready for testing. PLEASE READ THE "READ ME" FILE for information on how to uninstall previous versions and install this version. I have also updated it with specific info for this version.

You can now use this mod for any of Bogie's latest missions.

Don't forget to PM me with any kit combinations you may want in the mod. You do not have to be a beta tester to do this. If you like you can post them right here in this forum.

    http://www.mediafire.com/?3rhdidnzfwz (changed to v1.4)

    Happy Holidays to everyone!!

  19. John,

We all camped out in the parking lot. We had our monster trucks arranged in a circle and the tailgate party was rolling. The barbecue sauce was flowing, the beverage mugs were brimming and bubbly (root beer, of course :P ). We were primed and ready for the show. We hit "X" and ............... fizzle. Not bad, but not nuclear. We wanted to feel the shockwave as we were thrown back into the nearest obstacle. We wanted to peel ourselves off of the walls, stagger around for a few seconds in bewilderment, come back to our senses and shout, "AWESOME!!!!!!". Is there a "mushroom cloud" setting?
