  1. SG, dont take it personal mate, wasn't haveing a dig at anyone. it's just that with a good tex and the right camera angles a low poly model can look fantastic too. i agree, all the models in here are superb, and very acurate in detail. the spr of chems is mind blowing, and perfect for first person. think of it this way, when you take a dent out of a car there is a lot of work, what with pulling, hammering, filling and sanding. once the paint goes on, you cant see that hard work anymore. thats what im saying, once the tex is on a lot of the hours of detail work is no longer able to be seen. it's just a shame really, since it can take a long time to complete a model of these standards

    cheers......

  2. the dancing is desync, not lag. and the other issue is probably, maybe, due to having the same refresh rate on desktop and game. but it may also be a g/card issue. are you all patched up mate. i get it at times, and then i dont so i dont know what causes it to be honest

    cheers......

  3. as sart has pointed out, there is no demo version of VBS. take his advice and try the one for OFP, as it is similar to VBS, and wont cost you the earth. as wp has said, mission creation is probably the easiest i have seen, and allows for a huge array of possibilites. the vbs community is only just scratching the surface of what this puppy is capable. single player can be fun with your own missions or ones downloaded, but by far Mp is the way to go. VBS was designed for MP and as such does a fine job of it.

changing weapon ballistics is able to be done, although until you work out how, it can be very frustrating. new textures can be applied to objects, and of cause new weapons, vcl and such can be made and added. one advantage is that all the modding tools you need are available for free, no expensive modelling programs are needed. although max can be used for the most part.

again will you like/enjoy it, only you will know for sure. get the OFP demo, if you like it get the GOTY edition and have a run through that. if you end up hooked, than you will more than likely love VBS

    cheers......

  4. i play on 56 dial up on servers in aus and europe, and experience no noticable lag. although if there are a lot of high ping players on a euro server i do get a small amount of lag, but not enough to worry. VBS has very good net code, and is dial up friendly

    cheers......

hope it helps. this is for quality graphics, you can take a big slug in performance with them, but my puter handles them with good frames

    i have a P4 3.0Ghz

    Radeon 9600XT

and a gig of PC 3200 ram

  6. my thoughts on life are simple, pee in my pocket, and i'll crap in your hat. hence the tension in my previous posts. while there is no doubt that i enjoy scripting for vbs users, it takes time to do so from my RL. while this may not seem important to some younger or single guys/gals, the likes of myself, vipes and jack are all family men. that means that for every minute we spend in the vbs editor for other peoples enjoyment, is one less that we spend with our wives and kids for our enjoyment. yes there are some "not good" missions out there, but to blanket all of them is what gets my goat going. and as all of the CSHAG guy's know, mission's we release are VERY heavily hammered in MP before release, with up to 10 versions being done. input from former and current military personel is included and taken on board for the next version. so as for realism, we get it in balance. realistic missions with a gamers slant really. as vipes said, a 12 hours OP duty mission would more than be enough to put one to sleep, so you need to throw in some excitement. and as for using SASR, well i script for CSHAG first and foremost, and most of us are aussie's. of cause we are going to want to play as our army's flagship regiment.

    cheers......

  7. The attire: My dodgy thongs (flip flops for you poofders), pair of denim pants, shirt, aussie flag as a cape, and a tooheys extra dry beer carton top hat.  :P

    ###### mate, you sound a bit bent in that get up

anywho, thanks all for b'day wishes. had a blinder...........literally :x work today really suxed

    cheers......

  8. And 5 will get you 10 he's already working on some missions of his own.

well then, we can sit back and judge what he does, now that will be interesting. if he can do better than the likes of me and vipe's, than fine, try as he may, from all his experience

  9. I own one, looks perfect to me deks

    thanks mac

    What's the polycount?

high end of 4, but can be optimised a bit yet

@dek: how'd you get some bits to be more shiney than others? is that just a property in the material editor?

dont know mate, just came out that way

    cheers......
