  1. The current list of games on my HD are:

    • Rainbow Six: Collector's Edition ( has the entire Rainbow Six series of games and mission packs)
    • Rainbow Six: Black Thorn
    • Ghost Recon with Desert Siege and Island Thunder
    • Jane's USAF
    • NASCAR Racing Season 2002
    • NASCAR Racing Season 2003
    • The Sum Of All Fears
    • Destroyer Command
    • Silent Hunter II
    • IL2 Sturmovik

IIRC that is something like 12GB worth of games.

  2. Now I play a couple of other games too and I go to the publishers forums for them tho I am seeking out fansites. There are a couple of fansites for my racing games I go to, but with the exception of 1 they aren't that busy complared to here or the publishers forums.

Each publishers fourms has their share of jerks and really nice people. IMO it's just the way some people are that make them into jerks wanting to interject their opinion about a transgression that may or may not have happened. People at the publishers tend to think that the place is scared and carry that to the extreme. I admit that sometimes I can get caught up in something at Ubi, but not to often. In this case I came to the defense of modders that have had their work ripped off. For my part I didn't get a warning or anything, but I did ask a mod to lock the thread in question before I may have gotten a warning or a weeks ban. Said thread was locked BTW as I have a feeling I have a bit of respect from the moderators there due to my affiliation here and the respect Rocky has earned in the community. I also give advice and help those in need there as I do here.

Remember that here at GR.net even we Staff and Moderators have guidlines we have to follow so this place is as friendly as it is. That is why we try to defuse potential problems when they crop up instead of becoming a flamefest.

I actually am glad I found Rocky TBH. He has the values a person wants in a friend. He wants people to enjoy themselves here. When I host I want people to have a good game without all the ###### BS you see when playing through matchmaking services. Don't get me wrong, they serve a purpose, and you meet some good people, but most have to be jerks IMO. I saw that when I played at MPlayer back when I had just R6. When I started hosting I wanted to make sure people could have fun and learn the game at the same time.

  3. RSE has done something lots of devlopers haven't. They have created games that appeal to people for their realism (though tempered for gameplay reasons) and it has been an award winning formula. Rocky stated "Tom Clancy" and I like him haven't ventured very far from games with his name on them. Yes that is part of the reason behind the successs RSE has had. With the TC name in front of a game name, there has to be certain things a game has to have. GR has followed the winning ways. I hope GR 2 continues on, when it is created that is, with that very same formula.

  4. The best one I really laughed at was a background service they said you could remove if you were not on a local network. When I read that I had to wonder about cable connections to the internet, sometimes you see them referred to as a LAN in certain settings. True enough in next months magazine they had people writing in to say for some reason they lost their net connection after trying some of the suggested tweaks.

Sounds like someone here whose name I won't mention. We all know who this person is.

IMO it's better to leave something alone if your not sure what it is for. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

  5. I have DSL and I have to "dial" in everytime I connect. When I was using Win98SE I had no problems and could stay connected no matter how long I sat on the toilet or run down the street for an errand.

Now I am using Win2K and if I sit on the can or write a post longer than 20 minutes I have to reconnect. Now I did check that setting, but it is not checked so that is not the problem. Any other ideas?

I have 2 NIC cards that were built into my mobo.

  6. IMO the Ubi forums are busier du to the number of forums they have. Remember that Ubi has forums for more than just GR. Matter of fact the IL2 forums are probably the busiest at Ubi. Most people, when they get a game it seems, goes to the manufacturers/producers website and forums becase of the ease of finding them. At least Ubi makes it easy to find fansites, heck I see a list of them right on the mainCommunity Zone page and GR.net is listed there.

I do have to say the mindset amongst the different forums I go to are different.

  7. I'm using Samsung non-EEC unbuffered RAM. I need to check the BIOS settings as far as latency and such. Right off the top of my head it's 3 but not sure.

I went in to the BIOS and got his information:

    SDRAM Active Precharge Delay 8

SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay 4

    SDRAM RAS Precharge Delay 4

    SDRAM CAS Latency 3T

Can I change that stuff so it's runs better being Samsung OEM RAM?

  8. I am using RivaTuner and turn off AA in both D3D and OpenGL.

VSynch is always off with a setting of 3

I have anisotropy set to be determined by application are what is set for D3d.

Ild like to see what my 3DMarks would show if it reported everything as 266mHz like my FSB is. We have the same mobo and I know it shows 2400+ during post with RAM at 200. just dont see the 400mHz RAM that I am supposed to have.

I still need to figure out how to get my memory to be read the way it should at 400mHz. SisSoft Sandra shows the FSB at 266mHz so I don't know why PCMark and 3dMark don't. Go figure. Scores would probably be better if they read right, but I am happy so far and I haven't overclocked a thing.
