I keep saying that most of GR.net's members are in the over 35 age group.

The brown slot is an AGP slot and it looks like your current card is an AGP card. The long black slots in the second pic are RAM slots and it looks like you have fake DIMMs in the other 2.

@=SOB= Sliver, if I were warning you, I would have edited your post and not VF_EvilGhosT's. We do not think highly of people calling people names around here. There are other places on the net and other means. There is nothing wrong with calling someone an aussie. We have quite a few members here from Oz and they all would agree that there is nothing wrong with that moniker. You just have to watch where you point that thing. Also the GF can play all she wants, I like having her play GR too.

Grab RivaTuner and you can then disable VSynch for both OpenGL and D3D.

I have been playing a bit of Splinter Cell and it has some great graphics and effects with the lighting. I have posted some at Splinter Cell ScreenShots. Here is a teaser.

Go to the nVidia website and grab the 30.82 drivers at least. Try them first and if not grab the 40.72 or the 41.09 drivers. You are running WinME and not Win2000 as stated earlier. If you installed the wrong drivers you can have problems. Start with the 30.82 drivers first and post back here the results.

This is the Rambo syndrome in force. GR is a strategy game, not a CS or Quake clone where all you do is run and gun. Read what everyone else has to say. Running around is more likely to get you killed. Try that in a no spawn recon game and you will never beat the level. Creeping from bush to bush and shadow to shadow will keep you alive.

CPU - Central Processing Unit. It is what makes the computer work basically. RAM is Random Access Memory. It is a fast storage area that information from the HD (hard drive) is stored prior to processing. AMD is the company that makes the Althon XP CPU's.

Try all the weapons and see what you like. If you prefer to snipe go for it. There maybe several weapons you like depending on what the map or mission is.

What I see at both of those pages is where they compare a P4 2.0A and a 2.2 Intel chip with an 2000XP tho they include an original P4 CPU. Taken with that in mind I still see the Althon XP CPU outpreforming the P4 all around.

Stinger, the page you posted doesn't bear out your argument. This is straight from the second to last page. BigT, it is a personal preference and cost type deal really. If you want preformance at a reasonable price go AMD. The rest of your hardware will fall into place when you choose the chip you want to use. The other guys here are on the mark about what components to get.

It sounds like you have onboard sound. To remedy your problems get at least a SB Live! 5.1 sound card. If you can afford an Audigy grab one of them. You may be able to find one for around $80 or so. That should help with the popping and the slow down you are having.
