I'm a brand spankin newbie to this game and am loving it. My cousin in London ON has played Rogue Spear and RB6 for years and always tried to get me into Tom Clancy games. Instead I was too busy playing Unreal and Quake.

I now see the light... assuming RB6 and RS are similar to GR.

This is the best fp gaming experience since orig Doom. I get nervous doing the campaign. I've been reading about these area's and the history of the tensions in places like Georgia with the Soviets now Russia and have read a couple of Clancy's books. It really makes for an immersive experience. I didn't think I had time for a FPS that makes me think, but once you get into it, I find the squad system rather intuitive and the 'realism' is very refreshing and adds tension that simply doesn't exist in other FPS.

I don't get to play a lot, so I laugh when I read the post by the guy who says he's bored of the game... must be nice! I suggest reading about Georgian republic or about guys like Richard Marcinko who has a book out, or read any book by Robert Young Pelton. It will make playing these games so much more immersive when you learn about the places from people who have been there and conducted operations of their own.

I am Canadian but served in the US army in the late 80's. I'm no hardcore dude, but I did get to do cool stuff because I would get attached to a LRRP platoon for training exercises as an NBC nco. I was in 2/1 cav 2nd AD at Ft Hood tx and then other places.

I know there must be other former or active military that play. Much of the game gear I have never heard of so it's probably either very new or experimental stuff that isn't out yet. Does anyone know of a good website where you can read about some of the weapons used in the game? Or military weapons and vehicles in general?

This game has me thinking a lot about the old military days. I hated most of it at the time, but then I'd realize it sounded like I was bragging when I described to my civilian friends how I learned to repel out of a helicopter and jump into water loaded with gear. At the time I was just thinking it was a pain in the ass but everybody around me was doing it and probably much better than I, so I followed along as best I could, tried not to draw attention to myself.

I'd like to read about the helicopter I was likely in, a huey or HU we had apache's in our unit but I never rode in them. I did get to drive a lot of Bradleys and M113s and sit in Hueys reading radiac meters and getting dropped off to setup NBC hazard markers.

Well, sorry if this is too long. The game really got me reminiscing about old military stuff and I'd like to read more about it, specifically details about the gear.

I am Canadian but was proud to serve in the US Army, us Canadians love America so don't believe any hype you might be hearing lately.
