  1. Problem Solved!

After a little research online I found these errors were often caused by Video Card Drivers.

So I went back to an older version and Problem fixed!

I previously had the newest ATI Drivers installed (8.1) and rolled back to 7.12 to fix the error.

The ATI 8.1 Drivers have only just come out, so I imagine a few people might install these soon and break their Ghost Recon Install. Hopefully this info will be useful for anyone who comes across this thread in the future.

    For reference:

    Windows XP SP2

    Direct X 9.0c

    Radeon x1950 pro (AGP)

    AMD Athlonxp

    Working ATI Drivers 7.12 (Omega)

  2. OK I've been searching through old posts. There have been several users with similar problems, but I haven't found a solution.

  3. Hi,

I fancied reliving the good old days of Ghost Recon. Perhaps one of my favourite games of all time. But I can't get it to work! :o

First of all I installed GR, DS, IT, and patch 1.4. The game wouldn't start showing a black screen and then exiting back to the Desktop.

So I started with basics and uninstalled Everything and cleaned the Registry.

I installed just GR with no patches. When I go to start the game this happens:

    1) CD starts to spin up

    2) Ghost Recon Splash screen comes up with lots of disc activity

    3) Screen goes black

    4) Games quits back to Desktop with "Problem encouted with GhostRecon.exe .. do you wish to send an error report etc)

So I tried installed the 1.3 Game update and this happens:

    1) CD starts to spin up

    2) NO splash screen this time

    3) Screen goes black

    4) Exits back to the Desktop with no Error shown.

    What Can I do?

I have Win xp with SP2 and All updates

Video card - Radeon 1950PRO with latest drivers

Please Help! I want to relive Ghost Recon one again.
