  6. how about a WYSIWYG mission editor so you don't have to learn IGOR?
  7. sorry to rain on his parade but i knew what Fdisk ment...lol i need to know how to do it the HDD is a 40Gb Hitachi Deskstar, 7200 RPM, 2MB Buffer
  8. No i just want the Audigy 2 but when i uninstall the onboard the only way my mic works is if i set it to 'on' in Volume controll
  9. ah so that's it!!! so what do i need to do to format it? (i'm used to just doing it in 'my computer')
  10. I got an Audigy 2 sound card yesterday but the drivers for the onboard sound on my mobo will only let me use 5.1 or 4 speakers and a mic cos it thinks there is only 3 sockets but i should be able to run both now i need the mic to not be on all the time cos i only use it with TS and i don't want it to create any feed back.
  11. thats what i'm thinking
  12. i think the the prob is with the HDD itself cos i tried all your advice then put it in my other puter and the same happened so i'm taking it back to where i got it from to let their tech support folk have a look at it. thanks for the help on that but i still need some on the sound issue.
  13. in BIOS it is in the "Primary Slave" also the jumpers are set to slave and the drive is connected to the middle slot and the cable just plugs into the mobo on the sound issue i can't find onboard sound in BIOS.
  14. i just bought a new hard drive (to run as a slave) and after i put it in and hooked it up when windows started it said it had found new hardware and listed it but in 'My computer' it only shows the one i already have! also i got an Audigy 2 sound card but the drivers for the onboard sound on my mobo will only let me use 5.1 or 4 speakers and a mic cos it thinks there is only 3 sockets but i should be able to run both now thanks in advance, supa
  15. i just looked at the IBM home page and they have merged their HDD section with Hitachi so my HDDs are the same make/model
  16. does that mean that you need the same size HDD or the same make & model?
  17. hmmm, looks like i'm going to break the trend by going for John Smiths bitter (pure silk in a glass according to the adds ) and single malt whiskey
