It works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But It's Chopy. Even with all graphics settings on low it's chopy. I have an xp1700+ with 512MB DDR266 and and Geforce 2 GTS 64MB DDR. What should I try to get rid of the chopiness.

Thanks for the input Mach42. I will try that. I just found out that None of the DS quick missions work. They all crash to the desktop. I will try the texturing first and let you know.
-
I put in Directx 9.0a and it is know different. Also my sound card does not support hardware buffering. Is there any chance that could be something to look into? Thanks for everyones help.
-
Well I'm a little closer. Thanks for the driver info. I had two versions in there but I don't think that is the main problem. I can now play quick missions but not GR or DS campaines. GR runs for about 10 minutes and then crashes to the desktop. DS runs about 20 seconds and then crashes to the desktop. The quick missions work great. I haven't tried multiplayer yet. should I try adding those unlocked missions again? Thanks for the help thus far.

It will only run with The GR disk. So That is what I leave in the drive
-
I tried removing those files and it didn't work. I installed it the way you said. I should have enough resources. The GR disk is 1.0 after putting in all the patches it is 1.4. Here is my Direct X

I also play Dues EX, Unreal Tournament, and MDK 2 without any problems. None of which are currently installed.
-
I took everything out and dumped the red storm folder and the registry keys. I installed GR then patch 1.3.5, then 1.4.0. Everyhting works perfect. quick missions, Campaines, multiplayer, etc. So I don't think it is a patch problem. Now I install DS and that is when it starts crashing. GR even crashes after a minute or two wether it is a quick mission or a campaine. DS crashes right after you pick the team and it loads. Once in a while I will get to play about 5 seconds of the DS campaine or DS quick mission. I also had IT loaded and it would not even start. I would get the hour glass then it would start to switch to the game and then crash back to the desktop. I don't curently have IT installed and I won't bother until I can get DS working. What do you think is the best way to install everything. (GR, 1.3.5, DS, 1.4?)
-
I took everything out and installed GR and all the patches. Everything works great. I installed fl-ava mission mod and the quick mission works fine but I can't start a new campaine. I will now install DS and see if I get the same results.
-
That's wierd. If I have just GR and the patches I can play all day no problems. I am using the Detinator 3 video driver and the sound is sis on board.

I have tried both. I also have two drives so I tried both at the same time also.
-
OK
The first one loads and then crashes after about one minute.
The second one Doesn't load. After you pick the team it goes to the next screen to load and then it crashes.
The third one is the same as the first.
-
I also tried unchecking EAX in the sound settings.

No This Is a fresh install. I put in GR then DS, then patch 1.3. I also tried adding patch1.4. But I am always trying to start a new campaine. I even reinstalled GR and put in the patches. I also put in some other mods and I get the same results. As long as only GR and the patches are installed it's fine.

HI. I have installed GR and it works flawless. I had installed 1.3 and 1.4 in that order and everyhting is ok. I got DS and Put it in and after selecting team it crashes to desktop. I uninstalled and reinstalled in the following order. GR, DS, 1.3, 1.4. Still no luck. I took it all out again and just put gr and the patches in. Everything is ok again. I downloaded a bunch of mods and installed them one at a time and they all crash after picking the team. What could possibly be wrong. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks
Mods and expansions crash

I figured it out. Thanks for all the help. The chopiness was due to the firewall. I have win me and with just Zonealarm running my resources where down to 78%. If I shut everything off I'm up to 89% free and the game runs as smooth as can be. I don't know why the resources are so low with just zone alarm. I can remember running a ton of stuff on win 95 and still be in the 80s or 90s. Oh well. The better they make it the slower it gets I guess. I may have to upgrade the video card soon. Thanks again.
