  1. From what I can see getting a 3rd party engine in and bolting on what you want is like paying someoe to set up a network in your office & then you deal with all the hassle calling them to get fixes etc. Not the best description but In-house is exactly that it can be sorted out from the root with any problems.

I see this with the patches for GR, each one came out fixing problems and then adding more things aswll as enhancing the AI each time. So that shows that in-house is so much better, so I hope they have there own & am sure it will rule ... if they dont then, ummmm .... I keep thinking of Raven Shield ..... dear me ....

  2. Not realy, bit of a saw point that one & should be sorted for version 2.

All I can say is either have less in your team for the mission or set team to recon & hold then just move up slow so's not to give the game away. Or have cover from second team to save your ass if all goes pair shaped.

Only general tactic workaround for this. Mind you are you patched to 1.4?

Apart from that I cannot think of anything else.

  3. Just like to thank The Author of these 2 mission packs. Realy good missions that keep you playing for long periods as they are well setup to take time over.

Im especialy into the Night Folk - Night missions ... mission 1 on SP took me 2 hours (or more) ... :o - them damn tanks are a swine to manouver past! I ended up usin my second team to advance at all costs past the fence gate to distract the tank to I could nail it with a rocket .. luckily no one was killed accept the tank :D. I also ran these missions with General Realism Mod which is great for longer & more realstic firefights. Couple this with playing via 3D Glasses (night missions rule in 3d) ... im having a general boost back into GR.

Once again, nice one & good work !

  4. Maybe someone can correct me but taking your team members into other expansions as asked in initial post of this thread..... The workaround would be to use the "Droopy`s Enemy/General Realism Mod" mod which has all expansion missions set in 1 long campaign. Which would save messnig with xml stuff & also give you a decent realism mod in one go.

The mod is - HERE scroll down to Navy Seals v2.1 on right side of screen, look left and list and you will see it.

Only thing is you have to play with very realistic settings which can be hard (but very very good) especialy if your new to the game, but hey ... dive in headfirst I say!

  5. Far Cry as an engine "crytek" is very good I think. Yes its looks like its for a 12 year old because the gameplay & game far cry is a shootem type game. But its engine tweaked & all different textures would be great to look at & with GR gameplay it would most deffo beat the ###### out of most games of late.

IF they do use there own engine Im guessing it will also be fantastic as its now 3 years progression & engines / pc's & graphics are even better now, could be a win-win whatever ... well I hope. :D

  6. Wonder what engine its using, just been playing Far Cry and the Crytek engine is pretty awesome. Fantastic eye candy, large landscapes & good FPS to boot. Wonder if they will use a spin off for this??

Unreal would be crap compared to this.

  7. I posted @ NV forums regarding the new drivers for nvidia (were out yesterday according to nvida site) - heres the dilema I posted :

Can anyone shed any light on this at all.

    I have TI4200 8x agp card with 128 mb ram & asus a7v333 mobo bios'd to 1017.

I have been using since I got my 3d glasses 45.23 driver & stereo driver all works great. I saw updated 3d stereo for 56.56 & downloaded it with the 56.56 grahics driver .. 3d stereo would not work on the medical test or in game (ghost recon, Raven Shield). Although it did flicker & glasses did also flicker & dim as they should, but no 3d. So I reverted abck to 45.23 & all was ok again.

I now see the update for 56.64 graphics & 3d stereo driver, so I installed (uninstalling older drivers first / rebooting bla bla). And the medical test yet again is the same result as 56.56 driver - no joy. So I un/re installed 56.64 drivers for the hell of it & still no medical test working.

I took some 3d screengrabs with 45.23 stereo driver of in-game shots and have them stored. So I clicked on a few & low & behold they work!!! It views all the 3d grabs as they should look. So I thought, well, medical test might be playing up but it works, so I loaded ghost recon to set convergence settings etc. Switched on 3d in-game ..... and it doesnt work!!?? ###### is happening here?

It odd - the glasses dim & flicker as they should, but the screen doesnt flicker. Infact the only way to explain is the split image doesnt seem to overlay as much as merge together on the screen & you just get double image - with no flicker. Why does this not work nor medical test, but when I view my 3d screen grabs taken with 45.23 stereo driver - it all works ok??

Is there a known registry fualt, a driver / system tweak to try ?? Anyone can you help??? Well anyone with a TI4200 card, does it all work for you??

I know Rocky and others on here use 3d glasses, FYI the drivers are on nvidia site to download, but ... anyone with 4200TI card with similar problems or better still all wroking, please inform em what I can try to sort this out.

  8. Ai this game I think is still very impressive. All the above ive seen before and is very good to watch. Only thing that get on my nerves is :

you have 2 ai teamates, you crawl up and see tangos ahead. As soon as you nade the AI your team AI will start to shuffle forward infront of you & still do so to the point they are exposed and get shot / or they get in your ret and you shoot them yourself!:o:D:lol:

  9. Check Thread

View above thread at NV news forum, I started this thread on that forum regarding newer stereo drivers for 3d (3d glasses). Last 3 posts are the link to download new drivers & also the new nvidia 63.63 drivers. Plus my reports on things.

Bottom line is they dont work on my 4200TI card, can anyone else test them on newer FX cards and report if they work or not. I reverted back to old ones for now.

  10. All limitations considered, this is by far the best Mod, dare we say hack!? :D of GR to date by a long shot. Its fun to play with a hole army of Ghosts, puts life back into the "old skool" missions. Great work.

I see alot of questions on the limitations, if they were sorted out so the util would fit with mods then this would rule over anything since the game arrived! ... look forward to updated versions .... time/code/life permitting.

  11. I must say I had much more downloaded and have deleted alot of stuff and narrowed it down to the ones I listed as my "assentials" .. they all work together, are top quality in my book & gives you endless combinations to make this game fresh for a long time to come.

Mainly my list is for single play firefight, frostbite and war of infamy are obviously big-daddys for GR but are all-in-one and can limit kits to what the mod has, good for online play that have the mod but my list is for all purpose general single play shaninigans. With mad neds game types you have a nice set of hostage rescue & more other tyhan just firefight etc to use feely over all the maps & skins & weapons etc. More of an open-platform.

  12. After playing this game since release with all expansions & mods / maps / skins etc etc, Ive finaly found a good comination that realy gives atleast my install of GR a great all-round complete feel to it Not realy about missions but a setup with gametypes to play on a vast aray of different maps whether its day or night or new maps other than Stock ones. Also differnet night sights & rets, more death sounds & changes in enemy weapons (more likely to frag & use rockets) - Plus gametypes to play with all of these maps etc, plus a good range of skins & specialists , plus up to 260 weapons per team member!

    Mod:

    ------

HX5 (good night view, changes in enemy arms & death sounds, plus no threat indicator)

    Weapons :

    ---------------

M4 Armoury (more m4 combinations than you can wobble a stick at)

Standard Upgrade (those textures are mint)

762mm Mod (many, many new weapons & good sounds too)

(in total up to 260 weapon combination)

    Skins :

    --------------

BajaBravos Sabre Teams 1.3 (set with option to use other mods weapons etc)

This gives you major choice of who you want in your teams from all over the world.

    Maps :

    --------------

Sun Maps (fantastic retextured stock maps)

Battleborn Mod (great map night & day)

The Damn (love them high hills)

Trafic to Colombie (what i class as the Island thunder missing stock map)

Preachers Maps (night/day/rain/no rain/fog changes etc)

FNG_DRx_Maps_v2 (great Sandstorm effect for desert, should have been how desert would have looked in original expansion)

Game Types (mainy for offline play) :

    ---------------------------------------------

Mad Neds Mission (many different gametypes to play on all maps)

Stick this in your GR mods active list, plenty of variation & all seem to work well with each other (no crashes) .. all are top quality too. Single play Firefight heaven!!

  13. As regards RVS on pc compared to Console .. the differences were mainly gameplay. Aparently the Xbox version is more action & arcade orientated with simpler control panels & also lesser team members per team. The in-game graphics were similar. So All in all RVS is better on PC.

GR I think will never be as good on Consoles, so whenever or whichever way its get released first, we already know in the end it will be better on the pc. So its a win-win situation anyways.

  14. Strange ... it realy sounds like

A : the hype well over played your views on what it would be like

    B : technical problem

C: you have funny eyes

Anywho ... I have them and they are great, was not disapointed at all. GR is the best overall as you can have the ret set in the distance to focus on it while have good depth values.

I use 100 percent stereo with alot of depth of field in GR and its perfect to play. The map can be odd ... close right eye and its more accuarate to see your teams position on the map.

Sounds like you had something a miss ? Did you try nearfiled setting on GR ..? I did and the gun comes out of the screen roughly 4-5 inches to its end. This can make things look a bit "action man" and doll-like. Although these glasses are not realy for "flying out at you" too much, edimensional have stated best setting are depth "within and away" from you are best.

Anywho... luv em & well worth it.

  15. Who created that god awfull music in HX5?

Sorry - the mod rules, but everytime I load the mod I regret it with that damn music. Its sounds like a part time guitar player ###### up on whisky rambling away to an old drum machine ......

Ive resorted to inserting "OTHER" wavs in place in the mod folder to get rid of it ...... sorry to whoever did it but ... pleeeease, next time HX .. take a bit more time selecting musician to do the audio for your next mod.

Apart from that the mod is fantasic!

  16. I posted a while back & allot will/may know this already but worth a re-post :

If you use 3d glasses and have Nvidia card ive experienced little or nothing to work with MX440 cards.

Also : any Nvidia graphics driver above V45.23 will not work with 3d stereo .. in other words if you use 3d stereo and upgrade you graphics driver to 45.33 or higher, 3d stereo will not function.

This is atleast untill Nvida update the stereo drivers (bit of a wait from all accounts).

I would have put this in the 3d thread, but its rather huuuuuge ...

  17. This all sounds similar to - although a tangent - star wars films.

GR is like everyones view of episodes 4/5/6 & the (elegid) Xbox port to PC would be like episodes 1/2 (probably 3).

Simply put the new one "may" be a right old bag of ######.

Then again ... we maybe all wrong .... then again ...........

  18. "Loyalty Dont Pay The Bills" .... heres the proof.

Im dissapointed IF its confirmed as true. Then again you cant ignore that Consoles are becoming rather good as a 1 stop shop to play games.

I love GR, and will continue to play it aslong as people are around to play with & mods get made. So im happy enough with that.

Due to a couple of pionters from others Ive been sniffing around the Soldner website, and im very impressed with how that looks to be right now. So if all goes well with that and GR2 is out on Xbox (and to be honest Soldner would be out before GR2 even if PC first) .. im going Soldner for my next big fix. Then back to GR2 when it "ports" (sigh) over to PC.

Then again it could all be untrue and we get what we want. Im still looking directly at soldner right now though.

  19. I was out of the gamer loop since my amiga 500. Ive had my own pc(s) since about 97 onward ... and only used them for music creation, games just didnt have that realism I always looked for. Usual CGI rendered intro, then you play the game and it looks ######.

SO, I was watching a game review program late one night & there was a head to head of war games, GR was one of them. I dont know what it was but "something" made me perk up and think, ooh that looks good. In the review it came second to some run & gun ###### (LOL).

This was I think november 2001, so it was christmas and I had some cash. I loathed to buy games then as I was a strict music for PC only person. So I pealed myself off the couch after stuffing turkey and whent and got the game....

Its now nearly 2004 and I play it as ofen as I did then, and it STILL rules. This is the best game ive had in terms of an al rounder. I have RVS and MOH, but GR still pulls me back in.

Since then ive started to get a good fell of what I want next, and that would be .. something with the 3d sound of RVS, with the look of MOH, but with the stability and gameplay of GR. That would be great.
