Realy good missions ... only 1 thing .. on missions 2 I helped clear south reigon of the refinary, all I then did was enter the refinary shoot 1 guy in office and checked for documents then it finished mission ... no demo at refinary and no destruction of warehouse? Is that s script problem .. anywho - still good missions thoughout.

That pc zone interview realy has put me off badly.
the way that off the shoulder view seemd to be fixed?? I thought it was an option .. christ I realy do hope so on pc :

I have been "nvidia man" for some time but from whats been said here and other places Im going to go for 9800 pro ati card, seems to me that this range of ati and the nvidia fx range seem to look like 9800 pro comes out on top.
And yes I am going to wait for the new range to come out to see the price drop. Ooooh if i did have the cash I would hold out on nvidia for there newest card .... but for now 9800 pro will be good & a very good price too now & very soon.
PS - I have detinator drivers installed, when I get ati I guess download latest drivers, uninstall nvidia's - then run "detinator RIP" .... then remove card ... install new ati gcard ... intall latest drivers. Hope there isnt any problem with straggling old nvidia files after that.

I admit I threw a negative post up on the boards due to xbox port side of things. I must admit after seeing the video with Commentary I do see through the e3 11 min game footage. In this commentary you see where hes controling the team to assult & supress and I must admit im very impressed with the quick command system (ala raven shield) if nothing else that has me buzzed.
Also the hand signals for commands certainly work well and I can see that the effort put into this (animation wise) does warrrent seeing it vie 3rd person (actualy makes it good to switch too just to see that). On this subject werent a few of us commenting on teammate AI cool things recently because we never spotted them in first person I guess (cough).
As hes playing it helps aswell to feel whats going on, the E3 footage just plays out and you dont realy see where interaction/commands are (and only advance seems to be used on that footage) whereas on this you can see the excitement of swithing modes and getting you team inplace to flank areas as in gr1 especialy on missions that are rather fast paced ... suppress seems more accurate and realiable from what I could see. So the e3 footage made me think "this is dull" but with comentary version it realy does help to put it into perspective alot more & im not so "negative" now ... wait and see is all you can do.
AS regards the medic .. many did ask for it. Aslong as it effects performace IE GR1 just gimp & slow .. this version hopefully will be better in terms of where you were hit to what the medic can sort out so wounds will be realistic more to effect performance. From what I see you control 1 player so that would justify a medic for other team mates you cannot control .. otherwise wipe out and your on your own. Then again I hope you can switch members in play like gr1 (fix what isnt broken) .. have I got that bit right? .... hmmm.

Well i have to agree that the demo, is there to get it noticed. I want a bloody good firefight at the end of the mission tho, but i want a stealth approach to that Airbase before moving in and takin them all down.
This is the Crap-Box version after all, but some great effects, love em. medic hmmm sucks if he gets fully recovered., over shoulder view, better be able to swap to your preference.
Dumb AI's!! , again crap box version, also god mode on, makes them appear to shoot worse than they do, also no way would you walk out standing up with an AT4 rocket looking right at a guy in an Mg nest. Its there to sell the game to kiddies.( they'll be ###### when they get wiped out trying).
The Rambo style chopper take down was a little O.T.T. but can live with that.Everyone with an AT4, nahh frags maybe.
SAS in that mission, i didn't see and smoke shields being used

One NOTE!!! at the begining of the clip it states " bugs in the demo will be fixed in final release", so lets not make to many judgements yet.
I will save my final decision until i play the demo, but what i've seen in the demo clip does not warrant a £40 - £50 price tag.
Ultimatly if they do not produce something that is worthwhile, there is enuf talent in the modding community to drum up our own GR2 mod.Just need to get some good coders to decompile and rip the source code to pieces, and add our own enhancements. ( no monetary gain tho, copyright would ave us )

Yes very true, the kiddies that get this game based on that footage are in for a shock.

Ive downloaded the footage and had a good look based on "god mode" & "showing off all aspects" - eg ragdoll / other physics .. how people stand etc and remembering all of that I now see this clip as a good demostration of whats to come, before hand I was dissapointed but now its put into perspective Im looking forward to seeing this unfold for PC still as much.
I certainly like the quick commands (very welcomed) .. and also I did like the action where main leader gets held down behind crate by 2 tangos (before he heads up to 1st nest). The way they fire and he shuffles back away & frags does look impressive. Sound seems good also (even if clips compressed).
I was not at all into the shooting down of heli .. thats just looked like Medal Of honour or something ... bit crap, but hey ho.

I have been in and out on this after seeing the footage, but I still think it looks impressive & will play well.
My example for those who are complaining about arcady looking play (I for one agree) .. is think about it more. Make an avi of GR1 in open area situation crawling around stealthly ... edit it down to 11 mins or whatever & play it back.
Then send it to someone with an "xbox" and say "get this, its wicked military game" ... they will see the footage and probably not buy it.
So Im thinking more along the lines of 1: its a test level for getting used to controls 2: its run through fast to show the game off "generaly" 3: anyone notice the blatant positioning when rifleman shoots across that gereator box where the cans are sat on top? - Well thats so abviously to show the "object -physics" and is very staged, so Im thinking much more on the lines that this footage isnt half of how the game runs in total & as we keep saying its "xbox" & is just a fluffy pre hype overview to get you into it.
Im into the Raven Shield style quick commands they were always great and I always thought "wouldnt they be good in gr" when I got raven shield.
Theres alot more voice chatter in that 11 mins which is a bit cheesy but Improves on GR1 with hardly any so ... i was firstly put off, but have stepped back to look at the bigger picture and Im still interested in gr2 as I was when I learned it was coming out.
I think someone posted in another thread "im not going to buy it!" after watching some small 11min demo "xbox" footage ... now thats just silly.
I am an ardcore GR mentalist from day 1, but im willing to except changes not similar to gr1 becuase otherwise you end up being like a pensioner who is so stuck in there ways that they dont want "any change" ... and as regards wanting the game to be realistic, some people need there views to be switched that way too.
Lets just wait for PC info & also (just a side note) - the game to be finished!

This debate will run & run because not just for this game but PC's in general are always pushing faster and faster so nothing is realy "hi spec" as 6 months down the road its old ... usual rat-race

To get it into perspective I recently switched on "show intro movie" in GR (i wanted to see chems BIM mod intro) .. anywho Island thunder movie played & got me thinking. I would like GR to be up to the standard in real-time of the IT intro movie as it does look very much like the level of what crytek engine is doing now. Obviously bump mapping etc is all switchable & although we know its not Crytek engine being used gor GR2 for a comparison its not bad with how scalable the graphics are in that game to see how top polished eye candy & performance is.
Crytek scaled down still looks superb on my ti4200. Just trying to use existing examples, but anyway the IT intro movie is worth a look at to get an idea of how it should look.

Im against 3rd person view as that would cheese the game up too much. I dont think anyone would mind some big tittied sluts blazened over the box cover tooled up to the nines ready for some "action" ... so Im all for greased up sweaty gungho sluts in gr2 ...

My spec is athlon 2600+ 768 MB ram (pc2700 ddr) & GF 4 4200TI 8x
I would expect i need to downstep the graphics level on gr2 when it arrives, no aa etc 1280x1024 shadows off or "simple" .. shadows are a killer.
So im not thinking that It will play like cack & look like poo ... ive played Far Cry and get good fps without having it look poor so based on that I should be ok for a while.
When it does arrive and it hopefully is a good game then I will upgrade my graphics card just for gr2 as I would want to anyway and this is my excuse ... thats if it turns out to be as good as we all pray it will.

They will probably have an option for servers to switch this view off in multiplay aswell.

If I was a dev in there situation i would steer clear. Although loggin in under your name cant help ... use an alias - like, "GRdev_I_rid_gr1_gimping" .. then get flamed for being the one who removed "the limp" on gr1.
I Posted in another thread about that, still makes me chuckle thinking of how the whole community went mental
at the devs for that.Anywho this wasnt about sound so must finish post about subject in hand .. ummmm ....

I just had a play on a mass firefight mission with this mod active ... ooh sounds much more "intense" than before ... the ricoche fx realy help it alot when you get a suprise shot up the ass!
