  1. Ok here is the latest on my XM-500. Below is a screenshot from graw where I have been testing the model in game. Soon as I finish these tests I will finish up the normal maps and textures then test those as well. Keep in mind this mod will be available for graw1 and graw2.

  2. Ok here are a coule new pics of the model as it is now in max. I have pretty much finished up the main body and only a couple more things to add and do before mapping.

I know the suppressor is unrealistic at best but damn its gonna still be cool in the game.

Take note this weapon will come with custom textures, new sounds, two new scopes, muzzle brake or suppressor options, and maybe new muzzle flash effects.

  3. Ok here is the latest news on my XM-500 model. Still working on it but having a hard time with some of the finer details due to a lack of pics showing angles I realy need to be accurate. Anyways I'm not going to let that stop me and continue to work on this awesome weapon. Below is the latest screen of the model in progress.

As you can see I have a few more cuts to make, a few more pieces to build and then loose a few pollys. After that it will be time to do the normal mapping then textures. The scope you see and mag are only in that max file for scale and will be removed. I have already managed to export this into Graw1 and even with slightly high pollys I noticed no real impact on framrates, and that was using the same model for lod b and c.

Also I am planning to build 2 new scopes for this beast and it would be awesome if anyone can help me out. I need info such as what dummies to use, bodies, subtree, and so on in the model file. Grin didn't give us a sample of any such addon and i havn't a clue what I need to make the new scopes wrk out in the max file. Ohh yeah, and any of the same info for suppressors would be great too as I have plans for that as well.

  4. Thx for those pics Sniggle. I think those might be the same as i have too though. What I really need is to score a good pic of the front and maybe a rear and underside. Otherwise I am gonna have to make a best guess hahaha. and OMG Dragonthc it aint finished yet har har... This is just a rough start. Hopefully I will have a lot more on it in the next day or so and some of the pollys cut out. Just really need to get some more reference material, and it seems to be hard to come by.

  5. Hello everyone, Ok here is my latest project, the Barrett XM-500. So far it is only roughed in but more to come as I continue work. I am still working on the M-99 though it is now on the back burnner to the XM-500. If any of you can find or get hold of some good pics of the XM-500 please PM me with links or photos. I have found what I can but really need more to get this thing down right. At this point that will be my major slow up to complete this awesome weapon.

    Pic of work so far:

  6. I agree that a suppressor can and do increase distance and accuracy. They do this by reducing the turbulence in front of the round as it is discharged out the end of the barrel.

You get a simular effect with paintball guns. A ported barrel increases range and accuracy the same way.

  7. You know what folk. I took a close look at the xm-500 that Dragonthc mentioned and I think that will be my next project. In fact I intend to have a few pics of a model for it within a couple days. If anyone can find some good source material such as photos please pm me with links.

With the clip configuration on the xm-500 I bet I can get the hand placement to work out and probably use the mrc animation for reloading it. Possibly the perfect choice for a semiauto 50 cal. What do you think about that idea?

  8. You know I actually had considered the M95 Faceman. Only thing that has stopped me at this point is I am not sure how the animations will be handled.

The M95 does have a clip, however it still operates like a bolt action rifle. So I am thinking when you fire it you will still be reloading the weapon and the animation will show you placing a new round into the weapon rather than the round simply popping up from the clip.

I am thinking of finishing my dads M107 and xm109, only thing is, I know he had trouble with hand positions with those. The character models wanted to place thier hand inside the magazines.

For now I am going to complete the M99 mod.

GRIN_Wolfsong, I know it seems a bit silly to redo an exsiting weapon as most folk prefer to see a new one but for me at least, I enjoy the challenge of using the weapon and a more detailed model would be great. The current model is a bit blah to me. I figure there might be a few other folk who will like the new model also. Though I do plan to release a new weapon later after I finish up the M99. I'm just not sure yet what weapon to do. ) P

  10. Hello everyone. Today I would like to anounce my next mod on the drawing board that I plan to add to Graw and Graw2, a remodeled and more detailed Barret M-99.

    Features:

    -- New more detailed model

    -- New textures

    -- Lowered and animated bipod

-- (Also, if possible, maybe a new scope. If anyone here has built a scope, I could really use a bit of help in that area.)

-- And lastly, this mod as with my scar mod will be able to integrate into either a default installation or with Brettzies weapon pack 1.1.

    Work done so far:

    barret_99_00.jpg

As you can see I still have a ways to go yet but the changes are coming along nicely. I have also been able to export into Graw2 succefully with the changes done so far.

  11. Ok here is the latest on my scar mod wich now covers the scar H as well as the scar L.

This mod is nearly finished and I should be releasing it within a day or two. Ohh and yes they are retextured in a weathered black. P ) I also retextured the suppressor so it looks a bit blacker.

    Scar H:

    scarh.jpg

    Scar L:

    scarl.jpg

Below are the loadout menu changes for both weapons. Take note the this mod will be released with a version for those still using the defualt weapons list and also one for those using Brettzies weapon pack 1.1.

    Menu screen Scar H:

    scarhm.jpg

    Menu screen Scar L:

    scarlm.jpg

The only bug I can find so far is that the Ghost Recon Skull decal on the Scar H (Located just forward of the trigger)is slightly stretched. I think this might be due to the fact that the model was extended there to make room for a wider clip and that it shares the same texture map as the Scar L.

  12. Thank you loads SnowFella, I am currently using the space my dad had used before. Hopefully it will hold up and I think if nothing else I can place a link to there for any work I have for download from a thread here.

Nearly finished my scar mod, so I will be linking it soon. And yes before anyone asks it can be easily integrated in with Brettzies awesome weapon mod pack. P )

  13. Ok here is the Scar light mod I did for Graw1 and now for Graw2.

As you can see all I realy did was move the suppressor node down the barrel a bit to reflect the longer barrel the scar light has over the scar heavy. Also I made the change to the loadout icon as well to match the change.

Before with defualt Graw2 scar model:

    scarpic01.jpg

After with the sample model modified from Graw1:

    scarpic00.jpg

    And the icon change:

    scarpic02.jpg

I think there are a few subtle changes to the models from Graw1 to Graw2. One I noticed is the new scar with graw2 has a folded down ironsight on the front of it.

Anyways soon as I finish up some a few more tests and the texture changes I will release this mod to you all.

  14. Thank you TRC and yes they have made a few changes to the file system in GRAW2.

I have, however, managed to move my own scar light mod over which includes a modified model file and I have also managed to move my dads M99 mod with animated bipodes over. Soon as I test them a bit more I will reralease those mods. Now far as his M-107 and his XM-109 I have not yet begun to touch.

Far as your ideas about checking out Brettzies awesome weapon pack, I am already ahead of you on that haha. Also I might try doing some mods for both versions of graw. But for now I think I am going to focus more on graw2 and like others just wait till they release some sort of sdk for it.

btw the scar mod I did mainly moves the suppressor node down closer to the end of the barrel. The reason I did this was because the scar light had basically the same barrel length and the scar heavy when they were both using a suppressor. With this mod the barrel length of the scar light will now look longer.

My dads m99 mod basicaly brings the bipods to the down position and animates them durring firing of the weapon which is great for a recoil effect. (I might wait on this mod though as I know he had plans for a new model overall. I might complete it and release this mod with a more detailed model of the m99.)

Also, if anyone here knows anyone good at texturing I wold love to get some help from them. I am not too good at it and when it comes to the bump maps I am gonna be in for a mess without someone who knows how to do this.

  15. Hello everyone, I would like to address those who knew Beracus and those who might have been awaiting his Barret mods for GRAW.

First I woud like to introduce myself, I am his son and will start by saying that not long after his last post Beracus suffered a sever stroke and that the loss hit home hard. I am sorry that many of you were not informed of what became of him or his mods since his last post, but please understand his mods at that point went to the back burner as it were.

For those not familar with his work, you can find his posts under GRAW weapon mods for GRAW1.

Now for some good knews. I myself am a GRAW fanatic and somewhat a modder and I watched him work hours on hours with his mods and would like to take up where he left off. Bare with me please as it will take me a bit of time to sort things out far as his files, and work out some hosting issues.

With a little luck I should be able to produce something that will live up to his skills and a mod I hope everyone will enjoy.

Not sure yet if I will continue with the mods for GRAW or GRAW2 or maybe both. Time will tell.
