  1. FYI... I have put together a MOD that allows you to have any secondary weapon/item with all the primary weapons. This is great for MP games with my good friends. This way every player has whatever that player wants to choose from. (Sorry it's not out for viewing public -I'll explain another time)

ie... Sniper Rifle with a 72mm LAW rocket. :o=

And yes it can be done. The 72mm LAW is much lighter than the old AT-4.

Not to mention I re-did the skins for all the MP characters. We all picked out a Model and re-skinned it. Next we took Digital pix of our faces and placed them on our characters. Now when my good friends look at my Sniper, they actually see my face. All original characters are not used, my sniper looks like from the CF Infantry, the Demo guy looks like a Russian with a big Radio pack. Rifleman looks like, well I'm not sure really

Granted, we had to really work on our faces to fit the Models head and face.

Next we'll edit the actual Model to fit the Skin, instead of edit the Skin to fit the Model.

  2. Good to see some new vids of what us Canucks are doing in the Land Force side of things.

@ Lancer, I take it you were not part of the CF. But US Forces?

    What did you ride in?

I have a few friends that were (re-mustered to Air Force) that were with the RCD's here in Can, they have lots of info on what were installed for close support on our Recce rides.

  3. I have asked this question before, well sort of.

What I wanted to do was create a mine, or at least a delayed Grenade that used a 'mine' like model.

I couldn't figure it out. There was some help, but not what I was looking for.

    Soryu...

  4. That was great. I've seen another mini tut for the same thing, well somewhere of the forum. but not as detailed as your's.

    Good work out there.

If anything it would be good to see all these mini tut's put together in a PDF of Word Doc or a Web page. there are soo many of them now, but it's hard to find them without searching through every single thread.

    They are just great.

  5. BTW your Ejection Port is on the wrong side. The weapon ejects the round from the right hand side.

The spent casing deflector is there to help left handed shooters for not getting hot empty brass in the face.

Hmmm mayhaps find the proper textures for the sides. the left hand and right hand sides do make a differance.

Other than that, very nice job.

  6. Well I have to admit I like the attachments. But I found there were not enough different ones made, and nobody is really making any that I know of. So I wanted to edit the sniper weeds and make them, well bigger and covering more than what was there.

And while I thought to edit that, I decided instead to make a new attechmant and place it with the sniper weeds for the neck. With this idea I made my Camelbak. Black in colour. The only thing I need to work on is the shoulder straps. The Sniper weeds for shoulders have a nice angle of them I need to copy.

This one shows it from the side. I even have the water cap and carrying handle, as well as the top carrying handle.

    MaxModel-Camelbak-01.jpg

This next one is just a view from the front.

    MaxModel-Camelbak-02.jpg

My question at this point is, how do you resize whole models to be the proper size for GR?? The sniper weeds are totally small compared to this model. I got as far as placing them together in the same location, but they are different sizes. I would like to start merging and combining different attachments together to make new ones. Like the Webbing and gear setup as an attachment.

Will I have problems with this in other Models? are there helper points for attachments?

  7. As promised, I have what I've dones so far.

    Here is my Folding Stock.

    MaxModel-FoldingStock.jpg

    And my Hand Guards

    MaxModel-Handguard.jpg

And then my Front Sight with Supressor. I have actually put the sight in between the sight gaurds.

    MaxModel-FrontSight-SD.jpg

I still have lots to do, and as of now the Poly's are very very high, I'll have to figure out those tricks to get it to look good and a lower poly.

  8. Wo@lfson&Ruin... Thnx for the extra info I'll practice more.

As for the Import, all I have in export. I've tried to merge but I still get an error opening the .3DS files. And these are the Characters from Mike Schell

This is really bothering me. So far the only Character files I can open are the ones in .max format. And from there it's just the basic characters. Can I modify those ones to make them like the GR/DS/IT characters?

    :(

    Soryu...

    ***Edit***

    :D:D:D

Well I figured out why Max was not loading .3ds files. You see I'm using the JSTools and the menu configuration did not have the import added, so I added them and now it works.

But thnx for all your help. Now one quick thing, do I have to use a BMP file layout the same as the rsb files for the skins? Or can I just use my exsisting rsb body files?

  9. I see a lot of very great models out there, and I like the ones with Helmets and other items created to them. But I want to play with that too.

I figure if I want to edit the main verticies I can make the model have smaller arms, or bigger fore-amrs, etc.. I can even edit the face to look more like a face I want to use.

But even with the video/text tutorials out there, it still does not explain how to change certain things. For instance I want to make a character without his gear or other items on or even his/her pouches. I want to make a character with just a pair of jeans and a T-Shirt. Mayhaps only his Paintball gear. Whatever it is I do not want to conform to the standard GR gear setup.

So how can I do this? With that in mind I can not open any .3ds format files, suchs as the file 'Att_cuba_alied_boonie_01.3ds' from the Island Thunder Attachments files. what am I doing wrong?

I can't even open the Ghost Recon Characters such as 'Astra_galinsky.3ds' or 'Will_jacobs.3ds'. I just get an error saying can "File Open Failed:location...".

    :wall::wall::wacko:

3DSMax does not come up with the Import option in the 'File Menu' is there another way to do this? Have I missed out on installed something? I installed the plugins just as Mike Schells instructions were setup for the "Max4x_Levelexporter.zip" file, but I did this for the Map creation, is there a different one for the Characters? :wall:

Please for the love of... can somebody point me in the right direction.

  10. Thnx for info on where to look for tutorials, but I've been through all of the ones @ GR Tutorials. And there really isn't anything there, I did pick up a couple of those very short and quick vids, done by the guys on this forum, and they are very handy for what I needed. but still not enough.

@[GRT1]Kpl.Eli Again thnx for your help.

@Marcinko I trided to do as you suggested, but I got lost, very quickly, not even sure if I was doing it right at this point. Like I said there was a tip on how to get a nice Supressor to do it, pix and all.

If anything I have been working on a model, but it's not what I was hoping it would have turned out as.

The Poly's are very high. Not to mention I'm builing the weapon in stages.

    Stage 1) Folding Stock

    Stage2) Forestock/hand grip

Stage 3) Front sight & Supressor

    Stage 4) Reciever *not started*

Stage 5) Magazine *not started* (will be going to a Beta C-Mag)

If anything I'm using my C7 Reciever pix I got and that SR16 that was shown on this forum.

I must say I have a tons of wepons pix I've been collecting for a long time now, just for this purpose. :o=

I'll have to post some pix of what I've done so far and so you can get an idea.

I do have a question about altering the characters as well but I'll post that in the skin mods forum.

  11. As I'm working on my first model, I noticed a few tricks and other ideas that can be done. Now because I'm new and just learning, I was wondering if there is a good tutorial for things like bevelling on a tube or cylider or mayhaps making a triangle with rounded edges to the likeness of rounded edges.

One kewl idea I saw was how to make a supressor with a nice end on it, looked like is curved into the inside. But I can't find that link to the forum post.

    Anybody know it?

So where can I find such great tutorials? for those awesome tips and tricks?

    :(

I have many ideas that I want to try, but for the life of me I can't find any info.

  12. Ok, so I am working on an M4 model, and I wanted to add the Aimpoint scope made by Eric Johnson. He says that it is scaled for the size required for exporting. But the size is way off compared to what I have.

Can I resize the model and all it's portions at the same time? can I resize it at all?

    and if so, how?

    Soryu...

  13. Well as I stated from prvious posts I made, the C7/C8 version with the FCS that has thr selector on the r/h side is installed with both sides at the same time, not one or the other.

Read my other posts for full info.

  14. @Lancer All I used was Creative's Wave Studio.

In the RVS Editor you can play every single sound file in the game, so I went to weapons, selected the sounds I wanted to record. I then setup the Wave Studio for the proper sound parameters. (I got that tut from Cobra6's page on how to make custom sounds, Great tut I must say).

Custom Sounds for Ghost Recon-Walkthrough by Cobra6

Then I hit record, move to the RVS editor (via ALT+TAB) and play the sound.

then back to Wave Studio, hit stop, then it's a matter of ediing the sound file itself. You may have to chop up the file for the dead air in front and in back of the recorded sound. I also increased the volume of the sound clip too, as it was a bit low in-game.

I used Wave Studio as it was the only good program out there that was very simple and hastle free of other settings, like Gold-wave and Soundforge are. And it worked great.

I did post the question about the sounds in RVS on the UBI RVS Modding Forum and one of the Dev guys replied to me. Here's the post.

    Extracting sounds from RvS

    Hope that helped you. :D

    Soryu...

  15. @ Stalker - Are you looking for a certain weapon for the sound files?

such as, you want only the real sound of that Shrike 5.56?

Or are you looking for that and other "real" sounds for other weapons as well?

Just so you know... I replied to a similar topic, it was a bit long of a reply, but check it out, it's in the weapons Modding under the topic...

    Using Alternate Reload Sounds

I kinda went over board with the info, and nobody even replied.

    *shruggs*

    Soryu...

  16. Well it seems Viper is partially right about the Fire Control Selection.

For myself... I was unsure so I had to ask.

I sent an email to Diemaco and find out about the FCS being on both sides or not and here is what they said.

    "Hello Soryu

The answer to your question is Yes, but not to the exclusion of the selector on the left. We make an ambidextrous selector with a lever on both sides of the receiver on the same shaft. Hope this helps....

Diemaco a division of Heroux- Devtek

Please note: Any opinions expressed or implied in this email are personal are not necessarily those of Heroux Devtek or Diemaco"

So I guess it's on at the same time, but yes it can be.

I replied to him and asked if he had pix of it to send me. We'll see if he does or not, I guess. :D

    So there you have it.

    Soryu...

  17. @Slink. Sorry I didn't get one. And I'm sorry I didn't too, it would have been very kewl.

At the time of the event, Diemaco was throughing a keg party for the Troops and Honoured guests. There was lots of beer that night.:hehe:
