  1. Just tried the public channel from TeamSpeak... it runs fine. For just 2 ppl to connect, it's more than ok. And running the client and GR1 turns out to be no problem at all. So, if I can't host a server, this works :) Thanks all for your advice!
  2. Well, the reason for being put off by the client/server model is the fear that my system won't be able to cope with the load of a client, a server and the game. I've used TS before, and am happy with it, but combined with america's army, it caused me to lag. And when voice comm causes lag, I rather play without. As far as RW: what version are you using?
  3. just re-discovered GR1... and just registered here. From the day it came out, I've been playing GR. One day, I just stopped. Now I wonder why . At the moment I'm getting in again, be it slow-paced. It appears my brother in law likes the game as well, especially when we coop... GR reborn for me. It's the only game that gives me a certain feeling... can't rly explain but I guess you know what I'm talking about. And since my PC is not high end anymore...
  4. Hm... maybe the topic title isn't that good. Using voice comm or not is not really a question. But what program to use ís. So far I've seen a couple of decent ones: * Skype, but it's too heavy for my system (duh, it's not for gaming... still, the quality is very good) *TeamSpeak and Ventrilo, but I don't like the server/client model: running a server, a client and a game can be a bit of a stretch for my pc I think? *Roger Wilco, but I'm not sure weither it's spyware-free nowadays or not (at the sight of the gamespy logo I get sick). How I want to use it: running coop missions GR1 with my brother in law... so only 2 people need to communicate! My PC: AMD Thunderbird 1400 512mb ATI Radeon 9600 (256mb) Windows XP SP2 ADSL: 3017 down, 512 up In short: what would you use in this scenario? (any other case I will just adjust to the server-host, will probably be TS I think?) Help is appreciated
  5. I have found a workaround: don't use saved games It works for me anyway... And tonight, I've played online since a looooong time. Why did I ever abandon this game?
  6. I reinstalled my system completely. Installed GR, DS and IT. Everything ran fine until today: In the midst of mission #6, I CTD. 7. The IKE logs don't show anything out of order, and I'm using the original cd's. Because I have a very unstable system at the moment, I will try doing a complete reinstall. I'll keep you guys posted.
  8. Just did a fresh install of GR1 and desert siege/island thunder. When attempting to run the game, it crashes to desktop right after the ubi intro-movie. There is no error-message whatsoever. Are there others who had this problem? What did you do to get rid of it? help pls! ADD: after a complete reinstall of my system, I have the same problem. More info in my last post. (deleted the stuff in this post)
