  1. Okay, this hit home because I'm one of the lurkers who fails to post a lot. I love the packs, Bret but have not used one for aout 8 months, I can't wait for the new one to come out and I'll try and be on here to throw down a big thumbs up. Thanks for all the mod work, guys, I love this game but mostly due to the aftermarket support!
  2. I guess I'm one of the few that really thought GRAW 2 had it's feet in the right space. I think if AI had been better and COOP had been about 12 people with more varied game modes, I'd still be playing it. I have not been on here for a while so maybe one of the awesome modders here have already filled my wish list. As for an improved version of [GR], if there is the amount of mod support the first one had, the same scope and general mechanics and a real variety of game modes including 12-16 man coop,I'm totally into that and all my friends would be too.
  3. Thanks for the reply, I'll drop Bretzies a PM when I am sure I want to undergo this task. I think this could be a really sweet mod or even campaign but there is a lot to hammer out. Thanks again.
  4. This past weekend, I tried to introduce my gaming crew to the glory of GRAW 2. Two players loved it but the rest groaned and moaned about "the Mexican Olympic sniping team" that is the enemy AI. By the end of the day, the whole party had reinstalled Joint Ops and were all singing it's praises. This got me thinking of doing a mod. I haven't cracked the mod tools for this game yet but I'm consistently impressed with the work that gets done around this board. [GR] had an awesome GI Joe mod that I want to try and recreate for GRAW 2. So here are my questions for those in the know; 1. Can the kits be given names i.e. call support kit 3 "Roadblock". 2. Can these kit load out "characters" be given individual and unique skins and models? I have a lot more questions before I get working on this thing but for the sake of coop multiplayer, these are the most relevant for starting a mod like this. Thanks for anything in advance.
  5. Wolfsong, you ROCK! My group was going to be playing Vegas 2 for my birthday LAN party but the damn thing got delayed again to mid April. Your mod is going to save the day! I've been looking for a reason to jump back into GRAW2 and this is it. I'd love to see Bretzies mod be compatible with your final build and I'll try to give a report as to the LAN party results. Don't listen to the haters, I've been on many boards for many games and you Grin guys have gone the distance with supporting the community.
  6. Okay, that post is pretty damn funny
  7. I'd love to see that feature back as well. In Coop it is just murder running across maps. My nightmares of JOps return.
  8. These skins look great! Love what you're doing here.
  9. REally neat model, I can't wait for this weapon. Maybe we can do a community mod and have your work in there with Bretz. Add some maps and some new skins and you've got yourself a whole booster pack! Keep up the great work guys.
  10. Rabbi is right. The support weapons are great in "squads". If you like loan wolfing it, don't bother but they are fantastic in a team. It is easier for riflemen to work an objective when you know the direction of the enemy, have someone pop smoke and then lay down fire. There are numerous other (and probably wiser) ways to use support but this works for me.
  11. Great mod! I'm going through the game again with this mod and the one that blocks all the yelling in the tiny screen to the right.... way fun!
  12. Fantastic! Really fine work. I'd like to see coop for this map too
  13. I just started browsing the mod section. It just had not occurred to me to do so until after the mod tools were released but I recommend everyone go over there and support the folks putting these together.
  14. Please do I love the game, have no problem with AI and think it shows promise and the fruits of hard work. Go ahead and send us the link to the game you made so darn perfect so I can have a friend steal one for me and then complain about it.
  15. I've been using this mod for the last week to run through the game again, it is freak'n awesome. The weapons are a bit accurate compared to the standard ones but I'm not complaining, great models and sounds too.
  16. I'm with Wolf on this one. Me and my boys still LAN.. we rarely, if ever, meet online. Our LAN parties are about once a month. We actually get games based around how well they will work out over LAN. Nothing beats 14 hours of stinky nerds in my living room with blacked out windows. As a side note, all but three of my crew are married or in serious relationships so family and kids doesn't have to stop your socializing and in my humble opinion, never should. There's always the single guy or dude with an "agreement" with his better half that will allow an afternoon of games, pizza and beer... ah, nothing like that!!
  17. I'll continue to buy UBI games. I loved the R6 series and like what they are trying with GRAW even if I don't always like the execution. I find UBI to produce titles that are a bit more "adult" (perhaps because R6 was inspired by a book) than games like the Batlefield franchise though their stories could borrow something from the Call Of Duty titles. I bought GRAW 2 to support a company who developed a game just for the PC crowd over just porting the console version. They also used software friendly to XP users and those titles are thinning as well. If UBI decides to get lazy and stick with console ports or fails to listen to and support the communities around their games, then I will jump ship. So far, GRAW 2 shows a move in the right direction.
  18. Men who play as women is a bit creepy, I agree, especially when they do it as the norm. My cousin and girlfriend play FPS games and enjoy the idea of a strategic shooter and I think it would be nice to include them. They have less interest in GRAW2 because they don't want to play a chap. And when I used 50%, I was referencing the world population not the gamer population (and even at that is is an inaccurate stat as women actually outnumber men). I don't know how this thread got so big either. Whether you are for or against including women in the game, seems enough people have a strong opinion about it to warrant a conversation.
  19. This is one of those topics that if you agree, there really isn't any need to defend it and if you don't, there's no amount of persuasion that will change your mind. Video games are fantasy, some like the fantasy with women, some like an all man fantasy . At this point, I guess I really don't care which one you like or why. I like variety in my games. The same loadouts and the same five dudes killing me over 9 missions or in multiplayer fails to suspend my disbelief after a while. I know that some players just look at a character model as a silhouette for them to shoot at and could care less what the details are. That form of play is fine too, just not what I'm looking for. Female characters are a nice way to mix this up aside from the obvious point of wider market appeal to the other 50% of the population. So there you go, "session" over
  20. We didn't go "out of our way" to exclude them. They simply where not a priority to get the game done and as such not part of the design document as agreed upon between both Grin and UBI where everything that was to be essential in GRAW2 was listed. Besides that, from what I know there was only 1 character artist working on GRAW2 PC as well, which cuts down the number of characters that can be made. Not every 6 person unit has female members so it's not a big deal when it comes to "realism" as some try to use as a motive. It would have been fun with more diverse characters, sure, but that's not how it is now. That is a good answer and I understand now. My hope is still that modders will put the ladies back in if the developer can't.
  21. I agree with Nutlink on this. I have to suggest that those against female characters in this game are hiding behind realism to cover whatever their real issue is with dames in military games. My real question is to Grin, however, why go out of your way to exclude them when they are represented in the other platforms? So you already have the voice samples, models and faces, I just don't get it.
