Oh great now xfire is crashing my GRAW2 too!
Serves you right for speaking too soon
-
I would totally agree with everything posted by SleepDoc.
The cross comm system is completely FUBARRED in Coop Campaign, its a complete disgrace. The coop campaign is (as far as I was aware) supposed to be a 100% copy over from the SP game but playable with friends so why is this not the case??
I personally feel more than aggrieved over what is to me the failure of then main feature of the game. Without an effective coop mode ([GR] coop is a little too run & gun to sustain me) then GRAW2 might as well stay on the shelf..
-
Has anyone tried it in LAN?
Both online and LAN and no issues here..
-
I looked at every server type for the server options and do not see one for unlimited respawn. Strange, since my game works is it possible I got a bad install?
Unlimited respawns is when you set the value to 0
Ive been playing campaign quite extensively since release and I have not encountered this bug..weird really

uncomment the worldinfo path in the world_info.xml file, or add it when missing
<world_info path="/data/levels/common/coop_settings.xml type="coop">
</world_info>
ok done that and moved them into a folder in English\Data\Levels\*LevelName* and the maps are unavailable still. Is there something wrong there?

I notice some people are having a few probs with copy/pasting and lines getting split etc so heres a zip containing the actual fixed ini file.. Backup your original if you want to be double sure
-
i'm suspecting a flaw in their first attempt at support (multiple xfire crashes now when trying to play GRAW2) and I'm suspecting a possible mis fire within their auto update from 1.78 to 1.79... "about" menu still reads 1.78 ... even though some sort of gRAW2 support appeared ...
I think they tried to rush the support. The basically took the ini entry for GRAW1 and copied for GRAW2 and it just doesnt work. If they had tested it at all they would have had the problem.
After having another fiddle myself Ive changed the entry from what it was to this
[5097] LongName=Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 ShortName=graw2 LauncherDirKey=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ubisoft\Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2\InstalledPath LauncherExe=graw2.exe Launch=%UA_LAUNCHER_EXE_PATH% %UA_LAUNCHER_EXTRA_ARGS% %UA_LAUNCHER_NETWORK_ARGS% InGameRenderer=D3D9 InGameFlags=DISPATCH_CONURE_MESSAGES

perfect timing really

I don't know if anyone has faced this bug but I've rescued rosen 4 times now and I have no "next mission" button at the end of the mission.
Is there anyway to force the next mission or unlock them all?
If Rocky approves what I just sent him then yeah sure..

I found an level unlocker if thats any good to ya. Check your PM's for link .

I am very campaign coop oreinted. even more than [GR] coop.
Well as you know doc with Graw1 its was 4 man coop or nothing for me. [GR] coop just turned me off completely, get from point A to point B nonsense (sry Grin you did your best with what was after all an after thought add on).
However with GRAW2 its a properly implemented well designed game mode. I wouldnt say I prefer it any more or any less than campaign coop but both have their merits and if the mappers out there can make somthing similar in quality to the 3 maps we already have then I can see the new COOP mode being widely popular with the R6, Swat, [GR] crowd.... if only we could get people past their pre-conceptions that are rooted on the initial 1.0 release of GRAW1.
I'd bet my right nut that all of us here have tryied convincing people of the advances/improvements in GRAW1 that came through the patching process, and failed... sad but true
ok back on topic (lol) I'm also glad they seem (the post from Grin was vaugue at best) to be addressing the whole squad lead system, it does get quite confusing at times. It would also be nice if the map in [GR] coop (still calling it that sorry) could have a smaller grid size to help organize attacks better...
oh and do I get points for the liberal use of parenthesis

I gotta admit I've been saying this for years. If you have a game that is focused on multiplayer than leave the cd-protection out and use online authentication, its so much more user friendly whilst still giving pirates the middle finger. Sure there will be some losses but whats the cost of the protection in the first place? Surely its better to save that cash especially when the protection is bypassed before the game even hits retail 90% of the time. If people want to steal you program they will....
If you cant beat 'em then why waste $200,000+ (conservative estimate) on a worthless pursuit??
Good Job All Round UBI!!!
(I didn't think I'd ever say that again)

You can turn on xfire right now if your prepared to edit the xfire_games.ini file.
There are some limitations, for instance you still have to change your xfire status yourself as others will not see you as in game, so set your status to something like "Playing Graw2, Xfire in game chat is enabled" before you launch the game. Also when you type in the xfire chat window in game sometimes typing "o" will bring up the console in game.. If your ok with that then follow instructions below..
- Open xfire_games.ini file found usually at Program Files\Xfire
- Copy the following and paste it at the very bottom of the file. (noting the InGameFlags part is all one line with no spaces not 2 as it shows here)
[99]
LongName=Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter2
ShortName=graw2
LauncherDirKey=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ubisoft\Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2\InstalledPath
LauncherExe=graw2.exe
Launch= _LAUNCHER_EXE_PATH% _LAUNCHER_EXTRA_ARGS% _LAUNCHER_NETWORK_ARGS%
InGameRenderer=D3D9
InGameFlags=DISABLE_RELEASE|DISPATCH_CONURE_MESSAGES|DISABLE_DIRECT_INPUT_HOOK - Save & Exit the file
- Run game detection in xfire (Tools>Options>Games)
- Start Graw (Remembering to change your status first
This will automatically get overwritten when xfire does an update so it wont interfere with anything in the future...
- Open xfire_games.ini file found usually at Program Files\Xfire

In Graw1 coop campaign the server used to be visable in the online server list every time you got back to the lobby screen, allowing people to join/rejoin whenever a mission was not in progress, but in Graw2 (in my experience) its only visible at the very first briefing.
Now coupled with the fact that people drop quite often this is getting real annoying as we have to restart the server everytime someone needs to rejoin.
Its got to the point that were having to use Hamachi as the LAN list does seem to update, but thats not great as server upload speed doesnt seem to be configurable on a LAN server, which can make the game lag out.
So To Grin...Please Fix This Or Add Either A Direct IP Connect Option For Online Servers or Add A Server Upload Speed Option To Lan Servers....
Thanks

In regards to the number of drops..
I know it's not you guys.. but I have read that a leaked copy or few illigal copies are floating around.. hopefully it is those people that are dropping. That or some people trying to circumvent the anti-cheat and getting caught..
Well thats just wrong. I know the guys I play with very well and if they had an illegal copy they'ed just tell me, no need for lies between friends, and as for circumventing Anti-Cheat, well anythings possible but when a guys been on server for 2 hrs then gets a cd key invalid or files altered message you kinda know its BS...
-
yep things like /start and the like all work in the chat on the lobby screen..
-
well Ive seen a lot of disconnections too. I've only really spent anytime in the coop, and campaign coop (i usually host tho).
Main reasons from the chat log are
CD-Key Invalid (these are coming from peeps I know have retail game)
Player out of Sync
Edited Game Files (again I know some of these guys and they havent altered anything)
Timed Out
and probably more I just cant remember right now. Coop (not campaign missions) seems worse effected from what Ive seen tho
-
bump
Yes, I hope they fix it too.
and a bump from me

There are some problems but I am certain they are being looked at and fixed.
I certainly don't doubt that, I was impressed by the improvements in GRAW1 through patches and I presume the same will happen here..
-
yup regular 4 player campaign mode.
-
Please god tell me this isnt true!!!!
Are you saying that in 4 player mission coop, my human buddies in my 4 man squad CANNOT see the "Move here" spirraling blue thingy on the ground?
Are you saying its a feature that only works in singple player?
are you saying that as squad lead in 4 man human coop, the SL can see his blue "move here" circle but no one else can?
What I am saying is that it probably is supposed to work as it did in GRAW1 but from our experiences it just doesnt, hopefully this isn't a widespread issue but certainly affected us in the couple of hours we've played (Myself, Razor, Daz, Ant, Hunter) if it is widespread lets hope it gets fixed quickly..
-
I'm glad you like it. I'll prolly like it too. but I am still hoping for some modders to create lots of those 4 man types then, becuase i love having the move tools, the sat map etc. mostly the squad order tools though. I enjoy the lack of ambuguity on move and cover orders afforded by the squad leader tools. no one messed with making those in GRAW1, so all you got was the originalk campaign.
Well from my experience Sleepy the move orders dont work in Coop anyway, I've been playing with a few of the VOWS guys and none of us can see the move order icons except the person giving them and as we also dont get access to the overhead tactical map its a no go at the mo
I would also like to see some 4 player campaign maps from mappers please, that was one of the major probs with GRAW1 IMO, however I never really enjoyed MP modes in that but Recon Vs Assault is keeping me up at night
Oh and on a side note Sleepdoc Ive changed my xfire so check your private messages..
