  1. So unless his brain is completely void of logical thought, Guillemot must have other reasons for repeatedly going through the motions of DRM failure again and again. Whether Ron Carmel's argument makes a valid point or not - one thing is clear: Publishers know that DRM doesn't work against piracy. So the question remains - why do they still use it?

    Guillemot has shares in the company who licenses DRM?

  2. Sorry, I just had to start a new topic, because I feel very strongly about this, and I think some of you may feel the same way! It is all well and good to talk about every single feature that may or may not make it into the latest family member, but my main concern is this: Will the bloodline of the King be revived? Will there be a direct descendant?

    Will he, who was once great and started all of this - this web site, this community - be the biological father of the child, or will we see just another adopted son? I do not know the details of what has been announced by the obstetricians Red Storm and Ubi, I only heard the rumors of the EndWar family line being involved, of a potential mixup regarding the parenthood. But maybe all of these are just tell-tales, and once the truth is revealed the land can finally reunite under one common rule.

    I, for one, am desperate for a new ruler truly deserving to bear the name of our King. I will swear my allegiance in an instant, I will bend my knee to the new Lord - but only if I will be able to see the unmistakably bright eyes of the father in the son's face, only if there can be no doubt about the child's ancestry!

    And now, to be clear:

    Give me Ghost Recon or give me nothing! Give me all that it was, nothing more, nothing less - just pull it out of the past and push it into the present! Give me up-to-date 3D models and graphics, a new physics engine, modern sound, the latest AI routines, cutting-edge scripting capabilities - and use it all to simulate reality to the highest degree possible on contemporary hardware! And don't forget the most important thing: Give me all the tools necessary to mod the game in any way I see fit!

    Well said, there has to be a new revolution of multi-player games, this should be the start!

  3. I am a great co-op believer, when I see a ghost game I think of co-op. If I want to play deathmatch I will play counter-strike source or COD4 modern warfare. I see GRAW as co-op only! I cannot stress that enough!

    Now, to business, ;-)

    I have just started playing GRAW again because I missed the friendly people who once populated the servers with me playing co-op. I started with GRAW which IMO is far better than GRAW2. GRAW has a custom loadout of weapons, you can pick what you want, which is how it should be. I hate custom packs with a passion, I want to pick what I want to carry. The "spawn on leader" option is an absolute must with squads of 4. The map must display who is where with their names aswell, very important.

    There must be a download map option if you join a server and do not have the map, and you should not have to re-start the game after you have downloaded! COD4 MW has this, why cant GRAW!

    The cross-com system is/has to come to co-op, this would be unbelievably great, to give a player instructions would be a winner in my book.

    Now, voice-coms has to be an option aswell, counter-stike source has it and it works perfectly.

    GRAW2 was a big diss-appointment from the start with no spawn on leader so straight away GRAW2 turned into a deathmatch option just like the rest. I tried co-op but it was just not the same, one of the reasons why I stopped playing GRAW series. GRAW put me off because of the obscene loading times, a joke at modern standards. I still think GRAW is the benchmark which [GR 4] should aim at. GRAW with the ability to pickup other players weapons is an absolute winner.

    Oh, and please no vehicles. ;-)

  4. The SPAWN-ON-LEADER deal was a bit tricky, if you remember GRAW, and took a while to work out. We used to be able to exploit that in teh GRAW 1.35 beta to get outside the map and go wandering. Not sure everyone would be happy with finding THAT happening on their servers, though I'm not sure it has much to do with why that feature isn't available in GRAW2. Just thought I'd toss that out there...

    I didnt know about that, but I cant see a problem with players wondering about on servers? What are they going to findout? You will soon get bored and return to the action.

  5. Whenever I click on the "Server Info" tab on the server list and decided not to join by clicking back the game automatically updates the list of servers. Sometimes this can take several seconds and it's kind of annoying (like trying to sort the servers by players). It's not a big deal, but I know a few people who would love it if this was changed in a patch.

    Yep agree, also when you exit out of a server you press esc, on the next screen the "abort" should read "dissconnect". Even better if you press esc in game you should get the list of servers come up with a "dissconnect" button. The amount of times ive exitied out of a server and said to myself "what was that server ive just played on?"

  6. I was thinking today about some way to bring back the weapon picking that was in GRAW1. I personally enjoyed customizing my kit to my playing style and dont really like selecting a kit. I realize that there are many assorted comments and ideas out there so I just decided to make the official 'bring back customization' thread :P

    The biggest complaint when trying to remove the kits is that everyone will automatically pick a primary with both a scope and a GL. I propose to set the kit so that on any given weapon, you can only have one of the two. I hope that would help to even out the playing field a bit.

    Comments? Ideas? (Am I crazy?)


    I miss custom adding a rocket launcher (if theres a tank to take down) or grenades.

  7. Something is wrong here. I go on-line earlier this evening and less than 40 peeps playing GRAW2. Maybe the game needed a patch. So I do the auto patch. Go back on-line, no change in the amount of peeps playing this game.

    I dont see the support of this game anymore. GRAW1 had less than 100 peeps. Looks like GRAW2 will be less.

    Am I wrong with what I see playing on line>??

    We have more on-ling playing [Ghost Recon], where it all started. Is GRAW2 less popular than GRAW1?

    I know you can say "give it some time", I dont see the interest now. :(

    Your right with that statement, if I want to play c00p I will play graw1. Thats only because of the lack of people playing on the servers on graw2.

  8. Lead or No. 2? Because, and this is just my HUMBLE opinion here.....but I would think lead pencils can't be used. They're too easy to reload and will give an unfair advantage. :rolleyes:

    You missed a valid point aswell, they are far too yellow so no camo in the jungle, especially "in_the_cut" map.

    no no no no NO! You missed MY point! Pencils are just too easy! And don't get me started on the eraser feature :shifty: If anyone wants to join me in a writing contest, find me in the server. No lead, ballpoint only...all skillz....boiiii!

    Oh dont get ME :rolleyes: started on dual pencils, now that is just a no no, and must be made weaker. Someone will find an exploit and have the eraser (rubber, im english) heatseaking.

  9. This is a poll as requested by Sleepdoc.

    I have always wished that a server side option would exist for all team based games (which allow 4 man squads to organize) which imparts to the squad leader the same order-giving system and cross com capabilities as found in the single player game. In addition, I would like to have the option to impart to the squad the same hi tech tools which exist in single player. In other words, it would be nice if a server side option could be selected which would impart the ability of the squad leader to give orders and use teh cross com in games like TDM and [GR]. It would also be nice if the satellite views were also allowable via option (option server side of course) for one side or both or niether.

    Typically, polls lack enough specificity to be valid. So I'm going to limit this poll strictly to a question about Team Death Match.

    Assuming that these capabilities were server side choices (not locked into one way only .... admin choice), and assuming that you already play TDM, do you think you would enjoy playing TDM games that include some amount of these features for squad leaders and members?

    3rd option, BUT for clans in team matches only, I would never play on a public server like that.

  10. What I have seen is people argue over balancing weapons out and such and this all stems to those who appear to just play TDM type games. If you are a clan and do not want to use such weapons or allow them on your server, well don't. If people join and stay on your server, more power to you. If people do not join your server, well, you know what people want.

    It's not so much balancing weapons as the fact that you cannot swing a 23 pound rifle as quick as you can the assault rifles. The M14 has more muzzle climb than the M99 (and more recoil)in game. That's so far from reality it's ridiculous. All we were discussing is to make the weapons perform relative regarding the real one and in comparison to the lesser calibers. I don't care about the one shot, one kill of the M99 one whit. The same goes with the GL. 30m arming distance is not too much to expect since that's how the real deal works and that's how GRIN had it in GRAW1.

    I understand your point to WK, but you're one of the coop n00bs so maybe you should go play against AI and let the rest of us who aren't scared play against real people.

    At least the Ai dont whine and moan and complain...... Well it would be hilarious if they did, maybe thats a mod for the modders to sortout.

  11. The thing that bought me to playing the original GR game was the coop. A few of us in our mirc channel would play all night long. There was no other worth playing. So when GRAW was announced I was so pleased, back to coop with the lads. GRAW2 and still no regrets buying it, best option added from GRAW1 is the ability to pickup weapons, big plus. I still play GRAW1 every now and then and gave it a big hammering after I got bored of TDM on the GRAW2 demo. Im not a TDM player really, but there wasnt any coop. When I loadup GRAW2 I first check for coop servers which have people on, if none or very few I play tdm reluctantly. GRAW2 is about coop for me and I appreciate GRiN for making it as there still is no other game worth playing c00p. Only thing I want in the future is another kingpin bagman, if only...........

    Soon there will be no weapons left to criticise, pass judgement on, or shall we just stick with pencils? The weapons characteristics should be left to the experts, GRiN, the people whos game it is. Im sure they are MORE than capable of doing that.

    LOL, lets hope they are reading. Only other thing to do is to limit the m99 to 1 gun per squad, if squads are bought back in.

  15. The truth is that if the M99 and GL are left unaltered in the game, then watch as all the servers empty out over time and fewer and fewer people stick around to play GRAW 2. I've been gaming online for 9 years now, starting with the original Unreal Tournament, and if I want to play a deathmatch game with insta-kill weapons then I'll stick with UT or Quake-based games. GRAW 2 is meant to be something different, it's meant to be a tactical shooter, and if the developers forget that, then the game is pretty much going to die.

    Im not saying it is css or I want it to be like css, all I said is that 1 weapon will balance the other. You took my whole reply the wrong way. Its a team game and if your team are playing infront of you with their close up weapons, a snipers job is to sit back and takeout what the guys infront of them cant see.... OTHER SNIPERS.

    Oh and just a quick something regarding ladders, its no proof of how good you are or how much you have played. Quality and quantity are ring fenced amongst the selected few. Something like how AA does its loyalty scheme is something close to how much you can proove how long and how good you are.
