  1. Some bad news guys - my 3+year old HD locked up a few weeks ago and nothing was getting it up again so I had to format her. 95% of my 3dsm work was not backed up yet and bit the dust. Made me sick to my stomach as each of those models represented hours (4-6) of work.

    I have not yet decided if I am going to have time to finish the mod now in a decent time frame so my FR mod may be dead in the water. With the holidays on us it would most likely be late Jan. at best before I could replace the lost material. Not to mention the guys that I was building the mod to play with are all overseas right now and most likely will be for awhile. The only good news is I now have 120gigs of HD space vs. 40gigs.

    I will be making some models for the upcoming UE mod though, including M4, M16, the Colt Commando, some M14 variants, and several sidearms including this one:

    <StationaryProneAccuracy>8</StationaryProneAccuracy>

    Will give you the effect you are looking for. The lower the value, the higher the accuracy.

    This would only work in single player mode to the best of my knowledge. If you wanted to use it in multi I'm 99% sure the server and anyone joining would therefore have to have them as well.

  3. Go to C (if you did the default installation):\Program Files\Red Storm Entertainment\Ghost Recon\Mods\Origmiss\Kits\hero\lindy_cohen

    this is the folder that contains all the various kits available to cohen. For example:

    <KitFile>

       <VersionNumber>1.000000</VersionNumber>

       <KitTexture>kit_cohen-01.rsb</VersionNumber>

       <Firearm SlotNumber = "0">

          <VersionNumber>1.000000</VersionNumber>

          <ItemFileName>oicwgl.gun</ItemFileName>

          <MagazineCount>10</MagazineCount>

          <GrenadeLauncher>1</GrenadeLauncher>

       </Firearm>

       <Firearm SlotNumber = "1">

          <VersionNumber>1.000000</VersionNumber>

          <ItemFileName>glforoicw.gun</ItemFileName>

          <MagazineCount>2</MagazineCount>

       </Firearm>

    </KitFile>

    The 6th line identifies her primary weapon, oicwgl.gun - you can pick another .gun out of C:\Program Files\Red Storm Entertainment\Ghost Recon\Mods\Origmiss\Equip (or the Equip folder of the expansion packs or mods you have), like the m1911.gun for example, and replace the complete oicw name with the complete 1911 name. Example:

    <KitFile>

       <VersionNumber>1.000000</VersionNumber>

       <KitTexture>kit_cohen-01.rsb</VersionNumber>

       <Firearm SlotNumber = "0">

          <VersionNumber>1.000000</VersionNumber>

          <ItemFileName>m1911.gun</ItemFileName>

          <MagazineCount>10</MagazineCount>

          <GrenadeLauncher>1</GrenadeLauncher>

       </Firearm>

       <Firearm SlotNumber = "1">

          <VersionNumber>1.000000</VersionNumber>

          <ItemFileName>glforoicw.gun</ItemFileName>

          <MagazineCount>2</MagazineCount>

       </Firearm>

    </KitFile>

    The same applies for line 12, which is the secondary item.

    You would then save your new kit file to C:\Program Files\Red Storm Entertainment\Ghost Recon\Mods\Origmiss\Kits\hero\lindy_cohen, naming it the same as the other kit files but making the # at the end the next sequential #. In this case it would be lindy_cohen-05.kit

    I believe this would be client side, so everyone who played on your server would need the file. You will also need to make sure everyone has the .gun file if it came from an expansion pack or mod.

  5. The AI does have quirks that can be frustrating, but as you become more familiar with the game you will learn to anticipate and counter them. Of course you will still get jipped from time to time, but that is part of playing GR. I would echo the advice to stay away from mods until you are proficient with the stock weapons. It will make you a better player (so will little or no respawns). Glad to see a new player!

    StarCraft and Warcraft III Accounts Closed | 11/11/2003 6:11:56 PM GMTST

    A number of additional accounts and CD keys have been tied to the use of a hack or cheat program while playing StarCraft or Warcraft III on Battle.net. In keeping with our aggressive stance against cheating, we have permanently closed 200,000 StarCraft accounts and 7,000 Warcraft III accounts. We have documented all of the CD keys that were used with these accounts. 4,000 of the Warcraft III CD keys used with the now-closed accounts have been banned from ladder play for one month and 300 more have been banned from ladder play permanently. Repeat offenders risk having their CD keys disabled, which will result in the permanent removal of their copies of StarCraft or Warcraft III from Battle.net.

    We will continue to monitor Battle.net for cheating and take action as needed. A false report filed by one player against another will not result in the actions described above.

    As always, thank you for your continued support; with your help we have been able to keep Battle.net a fun and safe place to play Blizzard games.

    Nice. I'd love to see all the game companies follow this lead.
