GJ, your skills are improving nicely

How do you edit the weapons/kits to remove those items that you don't want available while your mod is running?
-
Nice work! The RDG BDU texture looks very clean - I like it.

w/ 8" Awc Suppressor:

When did you go thru selection DD? I went in '95 and was out in '98. I know the 240golf is used by recon as the mg, and I am pretty sure that there is still a struggle over the e3 and 249 para for SAW - even though the 249 para is the official stay now at least in 1rst FR. I chose the e3 b/c it is what I associate w/ FR elements from my time in.
Harms I plan on modeling a mp5n, but so far I haven't found any pics that meet what I am looking for (same thing for the MEU/SOC 1911a1 - especially the pachmyr grip portion of it). Most of them are too small. The m4a1 has pretty much surplanted it in most roles, but I always liked it for some odd reason.
-
Thank you. To me the focus here is being put on semantics, instead of the tasks & methodology used to complete those tasks. I assure you FR, DAP,MEU SOC, & FAST are special forces. The USMC spec-op forces and the SEALs have been holding joint training excercises for a pretty long time now. They may or may not have operated together.
There is a love hate with the m249Para too b/c of the caliber. The standard m249 does see a lot of service in the regular rifle platoons as the automatic rifleman SAW.
The MK43 as I understand it is a modified m60e4. You might be interested in this:Mk43: modifications from M60e4
Cheers!

ok, we'll have to agree to disagree on USSOCOM being the standard as to whether a unit is spec ops or not. No big deal. Were you in the teams? B/c I remember differently on the e3 and SEALS. I'm not sure what a MK40 is but the SEALS use a MK43 which is an enhanced e4. Anyway, like I said no big deal...
still gotta model the ammo & optics but this is rough draft of e3:

-
I believe the SEALs went on to use e4's and then upgraded to Mk43's (is that what you meant when you said mk40?), correct me if I'm wrong. I remember a lot of jealousy in the mid/late 90's when they got issued and leathernecks were still stuck with the e3's. The main problems with the e3 were the gas system and of course the much loathed "lightweight" barrel. You had to clean that thing practically every 50 rounds to keep the action tight too. It could be tuned up if your company had a good enough armorer though in all fairness when it worked it worked great.
I'm curious where you get the notion that the Force Recon isn't special forces by the way...just because we didn't want to get bogged down in USSOCOM bureaucracy? The USMC has every almost every capablity as far as SF goes as the other branches combined. Self-reliant and efficient as hell. Oh,as far as the m40g goes -it's a very good weapon but about 20%heavier - weight is obviously a huge concern for Force Recon patrols.
- Thanks for the compliments!

It was a piece of junk. Supposed to be featherweight light but retain firepower of the pig - but you had to baby it. I'm just glad I didn't have to hump it around.

Interesting view. I say add whatever makes you happy in your mod. I have come to the conclusion there is a niche for just about any weapons mod you can dream up.
-
I don't know about one file that has them all anywhere online (there probably is one somewhere - I for one don't have the patience to enter all the data into excel), but you can just look at the .gun files in your GR folder - open them with notepad.
-
we had the e3's when I was in, but a buddy of mine says the m240g is pretty much being foisted on everyone now.
-
The USMC uses the MP5N too.
-
Earl, you have that bipod down cold...I spent an hour trying to do one the other day and finally said to hell with it.
Both M40A3's really look superb guys. I appreciate the offer to use your model J, but I had already accepted Earl's offer and I don't want to renig. I'm sure you understand bro.
I already have the m60e3 on the A list.

It is a MP5 in 9mm in the game. The 10mm MP5s use a straight mag while the 9mm version uses the more commonly seen curved mag. I never saw or heard of a 10mm version being used by any US military forces. The FBI used them for awhile, but I think they use the MP5s chambered for .40 cal now - not 100% sure of that though. As far as the alpha-numeric name designation, here is a key I found a few years ago - H&K' website or maybe somewhere else, I can't really recall:
A1 Buttcap Only
A2 Fixed Stock/Full Auto
A3 Retractable Stock/Full Auto
A4 Fixed Stock and Burst Group
A5 Retractable Stock and Burst Group
A6 For SD only retractable/Burst Group

nope, still waiting to hear back from the guy who offered to donate one.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is - or a damn strong coincidence

Good job, I enjoyed playing it!

Important
It was just brought to my attention that Tactical Gamer is redoing its website architecture today (Sunday). Unfortunately everyone, myself included, is required to submit a new application tomorrow that will tie into the revisions. Sorry for the inconvenience tyovan, but apply tomorrow too. The gaming there is worth it.
-
At Tactical Gamer we play with a military oriented style. Ubi-ish run and gun, spray and pray tactics are discouraged. Check out the forums there, particularly the GR SOP forum. We have 4 dedicated GR servers, plus servers for Ravenshield, BF1942, CS & Natural Selection (unfortunately lol), and America's Army. You are asked to fill out a small application on the home page in order to get server access, but it is 100% free. I've been playing RSE & Ubi Games since I got Rainbow 6 a few weeks after it came out & some of the best games I have played have been with the guys there. Hope to see some of you there in the future.

So does the tactical gamer 2.0 mod

There are a thousand different ways to config a member of the m16/m4 family. Pretty much any setup you can dream up can be done IRL. Like I said earlier, just model it the way you want it. All modelers (my modding newbie self included) like to think they are weapons experts.

Make whatever makes you happy, that's the best advice I can give you

From my particular experience, the aimpoint style sight is most effective in a reflex style snap shot. It is easier & faster to acquire a target in this method and w/ this sight if there is a greater eye relief.
boonie camo hats -mod anyone?

The USA frequently runs exchange training excercises with friendly nations. I would state that they are 2 way streets croc, with both sides learning something.
As far as the USA's military capabilities, Iraq is a much more fitting example than Vietnam of what the unleashed troops of America are capable of. Our men in Vietnam (God bless them) fought with both hands tied behind their backs and still took it to Charlie. If they had been truly weapons free as far as the White House back then was concerned the current war in Iraq would be referred to as Vietnam Part II for real.
