I think the free exchange of opininions and ideas is at the basis of every community, at least where I come from. Of course it is a shame to let a thread degenerate into an insult match. Why not make the individuals involved pay a penalty - say a 3 day suspension with no exceptions - instead of ruining the discussion for those having a fun debate? If I step over the line and call someone a fat-head send me to the penalty box. I'll cool down and eventually learn to conduct myself like an adult. RS

Personally I'd rather have realistic weapons than creative ones. I think creativity in GR is better spent on maps and mission scripting. I also think it is pretty lame to rag on someone's attempts. Constructive criticism is one thing, being an ###### is quiet another. Modders should support each other's attempts and learning curve.

I bought OFP about a 1.5 years ago, played it for a week, then put it up. If I had found it before RS & GR I might have liked it more. As it stands, I didn't care for it much. RS

For the first couple of weeks I was stoked by all the eye candy in the retail version.That has passed. I'm probably the only one who feels this way but I just don't like the feel of the game engine. I feel like I'm on morphine when I play RVS. Yeah it's pretty (I mean it, the graphics are great), but the movements are sluggish and bloated. It's missing the smooth, fast-paced feeling that the original R6 series had (to me anyway). Oh, and while the fpwv is pretty to look at I hate playing with it. If you are going to attempt to make the WMD's vanish to discredit the coalition, then you are going to target the paper trail too. Anyone who has ever watched a cop show on Discovery knows the paper trail will kill you - surely we can infer that Saddamn and his advisors would have that knowledge too. You are SH. You know the invasion is inevitable. You can't surrender and sacrifice all the cachet that standing up to the USA has bought you. You know that if the USA finds your WMD's then their case will be justified to the world's population. You also know that if they fail to provide such evidence then the USA will lose a big chunk of international clout. I do not recall any program of that nature. I would surely have watched it if it had been brought to my attention, as a decade ago would have put me fresh out of recruit training and ate up with gung-ho. I have a hard time believing that there is such a wide gap between UK and USA special forces (either way) that it would require a "quantum leap" to bridge the divide. I am sure that if such a contest existed and if the US came in behind the UK that home field advantage and rules played no small part in the contest. RS

Pic, short answer is yes. Force Recon trains to handle all parameters of spec-ops for the USMC. RM's are first commando trained, and then they go on to specialize. In this the training is very similar to the training cycle FR does.

If you want to get technical about it, compare the royals to their USMC counter-part instead of the whole USMC - RECON!!!

Actually, I think OFP and AAO both have the feel all wrong. And there are several things both do very wrong. I have both, and I play AAO about once a month - OFP has been sitting in a drawer for about a year - anyone want to buy it? lol

I hope we never see it in GR.

uh dude no one is advertising a business or seeking personal gain. this is a free mod, I fail to see how this can be seen as "spam". also, like I said, there are a ton of threads here that contain stuff that can be handled in email and I don't see anything being said to those parties...what's the deal with that?

Huh? Is this some sort of arcane, unwritten forum rule? I have seen several mod threads here that consist of different partners doing the same thing we are doing. Not trying to be difficult but if there such a rule it should be made known in the forum rules & uniformly enforced IMHO.

Yeah, I saw that. I just don't completely trust Ubi to keep their paws out of the development mix.
