  1. Very nice! Can't wait to see it textured. RS
  2. Sounds like it might be fun. Definitely a historical war with many fascinations for me.
  3. Little did I know that the wire stock was going to be such a pain in the rear. Anyway, here it is 95%finished & sans a rear sight.
  4. It seems to me after reading the thread he has been made aware of the poly problem and is attempting to lower the counts. RS
  5. I can start you off with a few: Leupold 2.5-8x36mm M3LR Leupold Aimpint m68, comp m & comp m2 PVS-17 in combo with these ACOG AN/PVS series 10 & 12.2 Unertl Marine scopes.
  6. I just ran across this thread concerning a new mod titled "Wings" over at the platoon. This guy is adding something like 9 aircraft models, an aircraft carrier, a battleship (?) and a destroyer. He has already modelled & posted a Hind, a Kiowa, an Apache, and an Osprey - and they look great. Check it out! RS
  7. http://www.aerotechnews.com/starc/2003/020...hilippines.html There has been a lot of controversy in some circles about the "Congress Daily" report cited in the above clip. It was denied by the Pentagon and Philippine officials shortly after publication. This may be the source for differing opinions expressed in this thread. I will say that just because it has publicly been denied does not mean it is not happening. Of course, that does not mean it is happening either RS
  8. Cool trick, that is the one I was thinking of (saw it in a thread on a hind helicopter). That doesn't have any effect on exported models though, does it? I mean you still have to use the alpha layer trick in order to get transparent textures in game, correct?
  9. Ok, I got a transparent texture to work in GR even though it showed up as solid in 3dsm when I rendered it. I thought for sure I have seen transparent textures work in 3dsm before though from other modder's screenshots...am I just imagining that or is there a way to make them work in 3dsm renders?
  10. How do you use a .tga as a texture in 3dsm? I don't see that as a choice in the material editor. What am I missing here? (I am trying to follow Masiro's scope tutorial). Thanks! RS
  11. Thanks for the quick response Earl. My rookie tendancies showed in the misuse of 3dsm terminology in my first post. What I had lost was the "Transform Gizmo". After I read your post I opened up 3dsm and was shocked to see your tip didn't work. As I was applying a rubber mallet to my keyboard I inadvertantly struck a combo that turned the gizmo back on...sigh - relief. RS
  12. I have somehow turned off the X,Y,Z axis in 3DSM and I do not know how to turn it back on. I am referring to the one that appears over individual segments when you select them and is used to move, rotate, etc that segment. Hope that is clear, I am a total 3DSM rookie. Please help. RS
  13. I have been a fan of Nishi's stuff since he did that Rainbow Six character/weapon mod for GR. Looking forward to this 1. RS
  14. Hmm...I'm getting the red x of no-show & a 404 error if I copy the URL from the pic properties. But I did find them here. I like them, nice and clean. Good job! RS
  15. If you want something for target shooting, the advice on the .22 LR is the way to go. You can shoot literally 500+ rounds of .22 for what 1 box of higher caliber rounds will run. I have a 597 I keep around for target/pest elimination. It has been a pretty good rifle, although there are some stock rounds that won't cycle the action on it properly. It fires nice tight groups with Stingers (I use them almost exclusively with the 597 because it always cycles clean). The Ruger 10/22 hands down has the most modification possibilities, and is a solid rifle. Another good thing about it is that the rif
  16. If you have the money to buy one of the higher level M1A's from Springfield Armory, I would stick to that plan. You can get the Super Match M1A for the prices talked about in here. RS
  17. Wow...intro movie was very cool - I'd love to know how you did it...I've only played the first mission so far, but I have to say the base map is awesome. The Blackhawk insert looked cool, and the armor support kicks ######. So far I m very impressed. Great job guys! RS
  18. 29 minute download here...come on, come on
  19. There are suppressesors aplenty for the the 700 series barrels. I have never personally seen an actual suppressed M24 (as in legitimate US army model), but I have reason to believe they exist.
  20. I disagree. But first let me state that those definitions come from the Merriam Webster dictionary, I dare say a more expert source on vernacular and lexicon than anyone here. The reason I disagree is contained within the same source's definition for terror.
  21. What? As far as what a terrorsist is, the actual answer is cut and dry: We can all put forth our individual interpretations, but the language is what it is.
  22. Clearly he is trying to increase his knowledge on the subject by asking these questions. You could have left such a remark as that out. Smacking someone who is trying to learn is poor form.
  23. The M4 (mostly 3 round burst) and M4A1 (full automatic) are the only military versions I ever saw. Bushmaster does build M4's for the military and they have a M4 product line that includes models M4A2 & M4A3 (w/ an integrated picatinny rail on top of the upper) in which the rifling twist is 1/9 instead of Colt's standard 1/7. Not sure if there are any other functional differences, as I have never seen the A2/A3 in person. RS
