  1. Youve mentioned that fedahideen were walking around the place, why would those docters risk there lives by running away with the white maerican prize? One man did, and Lynch didnt even meet him because of her busy public shedual

That was not a doctor, it was a lawyer who was at the hospital visiting his woman.

This debate is pretty much dead in the water, so I'm done here. There is nothing that those of you implying that Lynch is a racist can say or quote that comes anywhere close to substantiating your ridiculous claims.

  2. She was being interrogated in a so called neutral environment that allowed armed fedayeen to wander the halls. She was at the very least physically assaulted - hit in the face - in the alleged neutral environment. The doctors & staff themselves may have acted professionally, but if fedayeen is in that same environment intimidating and abusing her why would she trust anyone else there?

  3. Who is that, prowling over the freeway! It is ReconSnake, hands clutching a reflective halberd! And with a bloodthirsty cry, his voice cometh:

"I'm going to pummel you with such disregard for common sense, you will wake up from the Matrix!!!"

  4. I don't remember saying it was a problem anyone asking about RvS here.

Now I understand where you are coming from, you must not have seen all threads that mention RVS get locked and the originator of the post directed to agr instead of getting their question answered here. That is really what I want to see changed, not the fact that they are two separate forums.

  5. But the simple fact that she was involved in any particular situation does not qualify her to comment on it. If I had heart surgery, does that qualify me as a doctor? Because I went to school, would I be a good teacher? Lynch was - and continues to be - just along for the ride.

One of the first things we were taught on Basic was dealing with reporters. It was made VERY clear: If anyone has to talk with the media you are ONLY allowed to discuss your own VERY specific job. And thats the way it should be done. Since when does a grunt know why the enemy does what he does? If he said anything it would be pure speculation, and would be useless to anyone other then a tabloid editor. Yes, she KNEW she was scared. But thats about all. Everything else is her own opinion and her (most likley traumatized) opinion is shaping govt policy through the media.

My beef isnt about her being racist or a coward or a hero. My problem is that people are taking her opinions like they mean something - analyzing and evaluating an obviously biased view like it was a fair representaion of the given situation.

That's not her fault, that is the media's fault. AFAIK Jessica is a civvie now & free to say what she wants.

But the simple fact that she was involved in any particular situation does not qualify her to comment on it. If I had heart surgery, does that qualify me as a doctor?

No but it qualifies you to talk about what it was like going thru the surgery and how you felt.

  6. First off, I just want everyone to tread carefully, to prevent this from degrading into a political argument.

I agree with Aussie Terry.  Regardless of how scared/confused/worked up you are, making statements like this:

JESSICA LYNCH: No. I mean, who would though? I mean, if you were surrounded by a whole hospital of Iraqis, would you believe them?

    and this

JESSICA LYNCH: I was afraid to sleep again. I was afraid of what they might do to me or what … it was a scary thought.

    indicate a deeper aversion/disconnection/hatred.

    Transcript here.

You're so far off base you're over in the bullpen. You seem to forget that in a crowd in Iraq, one out of ten might be fedayeen. They don't follow the rules of war and wear uniforms. They blend in with the crowd. Wouldn't be too hard to do that at a hospital either would it? Not to mention Lynch had just survived an ambush many of her friends did not. Try to put yourself in her shoes and tell me you wouldn't be scared and extremely hesitant about trusting anyone in that situation that even looked middle eastern. If any of you do, my stance is you're either a fool or a liar. Easy to sit in your home and second guess, especially when your blood has never been on the line.
