You are correct sir. -
Some Servers get ? for ping
grin_Ichabod replied to ruggbutt's topic in GR:AW 2 (PC) - General Discussion
As of 1.04 the "?" ping should only show up for servers behind firewalls or certain routers that will delay the reply to GameSpy. -
Well the fix we did was the same as the workaround i.e removed the xmb compiling when bundling, since it will cause an issue if you don't have the whole un-bundled project.

Dam mission, blowing up the dam
grin_Ichabod replied to svendegosson's topic in GR:AW 2 - General Modding Topics
Would have been very cool if it worked, but I'm sorry to tell you that the water is not a real fluid. -
[no longer see player names in server browser]
grin_Ichabod replied to Chrisp's topic in GR:AW 2 (PC) - General Discussion
That was not an intended removal I'm afraid. We changed server info to ask for info from GameSpy instead of asking the actual server, but it seems the issue with player names slipped through the testing phase. Sorry for that, we'll take a look at it for a future patch. -
on Vista + experience trouble seeing some servers?
grin_Ichabod replied to BoGRIN's topic in GR:AW 2 (PC) - Tech Support
Just to add, that may also apply if you have a firewall / router that is actively blocking ICMP pings. So if you think your server list looks small, make sure you're not blocking those ICMP pings. -
Install it first, if you wait until later you will lose any campaign quick saves. But yeh, now you mention it, a readme of content would be good. Both the readme.txt (for each language) and the patch_history.txt in the GRAW2 root are updated with the changes.

Hello GR'ers (hmm is that even a word?) Graw 2 is out, we've been busy working on it for the last few weeks Now we have more time and would be happy to talk to you on the forums. Also, you will soon get some info about the support of the game and the modding effort. (Like the map editor readme I posted) So don't despair, we have not abandoned you. Although I cannot promise that there will be too much activity here this weekend since people are outside enjoying the beautiful Swedish summer. Thanks all

The real missing item is the grid function, but I know this is a part project, like someone said There is no grid in the GRAW2 editor. You can place items freely wherever you want them. Select an object, and press thumb mousebutton and move it around wherever you want it to be.

I'm a rogue poster! Jokes aside, I think you can expect some more GRIN posts in the near future. But please don't overwhelm us, we also have a job to do

grin_Ichabod replied to ematsui's topic in GR:AW 2 - Server Operators
Sudden Adult Death Syndrome? Anyway, there's no Stand Alone Dedicated Server version of the game. Check the Dedicated Server setup thread in this forum for more info. http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=44750 -
Retail Version Patch Problems
grin_Ichabod replied to knacki99's topic in GR:AW 2 (PC) - General Discussion
If you get the corrupted installation message when trying to patch you either have faulty registry keys and / or one of the files the patcher tries to update is corrupted. Re-install the game from the DVD and apply the patch again. -
Ok, let's say you have your team in Recon Mode, you give them orders to position themselves where you want them. Once all of them are in position all you have to to is press middle mouse button to get the xcom order menu, and then you select Assault Mode. If your guys see an enemy in assault mode they will open fire. Does that make it clearer?

The "after Mission 2 cant continue to m3" thread
grin_Ichabod replied to farrellart's topic in GR:AW 2 (PC) - Tech Support
Hmm this sounds weird indeed, we'll see if we are able to reproduce it. -
I seem to have lost it somewhere, I'm not sure where?

Hello Guys. There is indeed an editor included, although it doesn't have all features yet. This is from a quick readme I wrote: Copy context.xml to a new file called: context-editor.xml replace this line: <script base="data" exec="Menu/Menu" editor="false" language="english"/> With this line: <script base="data" exec="levels/editor/editor" editor="true" editable="true" enforce_texture_sets="false" override_allow_autoload="true"/> Also make sure to add this line: <threaded_renderer value="false"/> And then launch the game with graw2.exe –o context-editor.xml That will start the map editor. There are some hotkeys that are good to know: Space = Enter / Exit Freeflight mode CTRL+Backspace = calculate lightmaps CTRL+S = save the level CTRL+L = load the last save Left Mousebutton(Mouse 1) = Select Objects Right Mousebutton (Mouse 2) = Place Objects Middle Mousebutton(Mouse 3) = Rotate selected object Thumb Mousebutton(Mouse 4) = Move selected object Up arrow / Down arrow = Yaw rotation Left arrow / Right arrow = Pitch rotation CTRL+ Up / Down arrow = move selected object up and down F6 = Editor Light on/off F10 = Editor console on/off There are also some Layer specific hotkeys: When in the Static Layer: CTRL+1 = Buildings and other static objects CTRL+2 = Props and other destructible objects CTRL+3 = Landscapes When in the Dynamic Layer: CTRL+1 = Props Vehicles CTRL+2 = “Real†Vehicles Once you have saved a level (CTRL+S) it will end up in the "data\levels\world_xml\" directory. From there you can copy it to another folder of choice, for example "data\levels\my_first_level\". Once you have copied it to the new folder you can edit it again in the editor with the commandline: "graw2.exe -o context-editor.xml -path my_first_level". Known Issues: There are some features not working in this version: Selection Box Not Visible 3D cursor Not Visible AI-Graphs Not Visible You can not walk around in the editor with a character Humans not visible in editor

This something we're looking into at the moment. Along with all other sound issues.
-
That pretty much nails it. Some issues needs to be discussed within the team before giving an answer. Also the NDA prevents us from telling too much about the game before it's released. You guys have to understand that we can't answer each and every post, especially not in the weekends since we also have families and friends to spend time with. We have been working very had the past 10 months to develop a game that we want to be as fun as possible for all types of gamers. We have noted all of your concerns and feedback, but sometimes it's not just possible to implement everything in a such a short time, we're not supermen and need some sleep now and then. Hope that explains why we can't reply to each post. /Cheers Ichabod

I know there's been sound issues on certain makes/models of soundcards, and I understand the frustration since sound is such an important element in this game. But if you've read previous threads you know that we are looking into it and are working on a fix. But those of you that have problems should try and set the sound to General Software as a temporary workaround.

MP Demo Feedback + Discussion
grin_Ichabod replied to Cangaroo.TNT's topic in GR:AW 2 (PC) - General Discussion
You can't set the texture quality to High because you don't have 512Mb ram on your gfx card. fair enough... seems daft though as the engine looks like a tweaked version of the original.... and the 8800 is the hottest card around ( hmmm cliche alert lol ) on the unpatched version i could set it to high and it played like a dream... Just as Halli_*BDA* said, it's possible to tweak it yourself in the renderer_settings.xml, but the reason it's limited in the menu settings is that the normal RAM is so much slower than the RAM you have on your gfx card, so if we were to allow high texture settings other complications might be a result of that instead. -
Field of view / Widescreen issue
grin_Ichabod replied to Paddywak's topic in GR:AW 2 (PC) - General Discussion
Changing the focus in the peripheral is generally not a good idea to do in a game since you expect to see clearly where you look. And in a way you will get the the "focus blur" anyway, since most of the time you're focusing on the middle of your screen (crosshair) and then the rest will be a little out of focus anyway -

Inappropriate Server Names
grin_Ichabod replied to viiiper's topic in GR:AW 2 (PC) - General Discussion
There will always be people doing such things cause in their opinion it may be fun, but to moderate server names would be a very time consuming process.
