  1. First, a disclaimer: I'm not concerned if you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, The Drinking of Beers, The Fall of Max Gruber, or anything else. I hope you find a wondrous place & time, here & now. With family, friends, alone, strangers, it doesn't matter as long as you find some degree of joy. Life can be complex and challenging. Don't let that overtake you, at this special adjunct. Live a little. Go ahead, dance like nobody is watching, or like everyone is staring. It doesn't matter. You be you. Always.
  2. First off, Windows 10 with a Radeon 590 should launch Steam GR still. I've got a similar setup, and it has worked in the past, but not currently. I suspect it's a driver issue. Perhaps you should try to roll back driver builds before you try switching cards. Good luck.
  3. My wife told me about a celebrity chef dying. She didn't recall the name, initially. Then, she said Carl Ruiz. It took me a moment to figure out why that name was so familiar, then it hit me. That was Carl "The Cuban" Ruiz, of Food Network fame. It took me a moment to find out his cause of death, and I was put off by what I discovered. He had died of a heart attack while away from home. This wasn't a shock, as he was a bit of a hard hitter. What was the shock was that he was younger than me. Not by much, but that part didn't matter. He was younger, and dead. Rest in peace.
  4. GOG Galaxy 2.0 is already beta testing an all-in-one launcher, where you can add any platform, even consoles & emulators, to one client, and view or launch any games there. There are limits, like you cannot fire up Xbox One games (yet?) but if you have a large, multi-platform collection, it'll work. And no, the game doesn't need to be on GOG.
  5. First, the good news: they are non-life threatening injuries. Second, the Bad News: two people shot, Monday around 4:30PM, about a kilometre west of my home. To add insult to injury (hah!) this was the third shooting in the city today. The first two were late Sunday night/early Monday. Boo.
  6. Beer. A variety of 'em, but with a tendency towards IPAs and porters/stouts.
  7. You don't. Coop only exists as one player/one console.
  8. Again, coming at this late, but the weird log outs, though they did affect me, stopped weeks ago, under the dark skins and any others. That said, bug me to help, if you need specifics.
  9. I don't know if it'll help, but I had the seemingly exact issue a full week before the update. It was a particular link, though I didn't try a few to make sure. Again, this was well before the update.
  10. Just now ran it (Steam) on Win10/64b. No issues, other than obvious age.
  11. Linky Basically, max. out your level, and you unlock Tier play. You can progress (level up) from Tier 50 to Tier 1, with difficulty & rewards increasing. There's more to it, but the link above has an overview.
  12. So, I found this pic, from high school, 25 years ago. Laugh as you will.
  13. So, after four years or so, I got a new hearing aid today. For those who may not know, I've had nerve "deafness" in my right ear for eight or nine years. Anyway, after a hearing test and a forming session last month, my insurance said "go for it" and I picked up a new hearing aid today. Besides being intensely blue, which the med. tech was very excited about, my aid came with a set of tools, and of all things, a remote to set volume. I'm still trying to figure out why. Sounds good, though.
  14. So my mother had a stroke, on February 8, 2017. She's okay, mostly, just a bit weak on one side and with some memory issues. Strange, the same thing happened to me seven years ago. Of course, living 200km away from home, and being in a wheelchair, I can't exactly pop by and see her. Funny.
  15. I believe the Steam profiler is part of the beta update (available to everyone) instead of the regular public build. Yet. JoyToKey has one significant advantage in that it works with any program, including Windows itself, even allowing you to remap your mouse to your gamepad for desktop use. Still, if you use Steam primarily, it makes sense to use it instead.
  16. mattm1121, you may want to consider JoyToKey. Shareware in the classic sense, but it'll work at a gamepad to key/mouse interface for anything, and it's cheap/free to use.
  17. "Access to path" errors sounds like a permissions error, so this video may help. Whether it does or not, I'll keep trying ideas. Note that I don't have a fix clearly identified, I'm just working on ideas I'm of the opinion will help.
  18. A space appears in your post, between "system" and "32" on your listed path that's in error. Is this accurate? I ask because it may help.
  19. So Carrie Fisher died today. As an actress I knew of her, but it was her work in mental health that was most prevalent to me. My wife was tearbound at the news. I was stoic, like usual. Good old stoicism. I died a little myself, on the inside, but damn, I'm not going to show it. I will miss you, Carrie.
  20. It's a few days before Christmas. Another one. The malls are a nightmare, and I have (of all things) an MRI on Boxing Day, at a Catholic hospital (don't ask, I just am used to it). My wife, who usually goes an hour or two away to spend Christmas with her family is taking a shorter trip this year, partially due to my appointment and partially due to her parents selling their big house for a smaller condo. Merry Christmas, everybody. I'll just sit here quietly and not watch the plethora of Christmas specials on TV.
  21. So, I decided to re-open this beast. Mostly because it was the bestest place to post my thoughts. I hate everything. See? Merry Crimbo!
  22. ASUS ROG Strix 1080GTX w/8G of GDDR5. I mean, it's no Titan X, but also not as expensive as a car.
  23. I have a fix, but it requires a file or files FTP'ed, which I can't do, and some minor ACP editing, which I can do.
  24. I believe it's been fixed now. Though Rocky altered the setting that affects Members, it wasn't changed for the quintillion other groups. This has been (I think) addressed now, with some minor tweaks more or less to make sure our, uh, less favoured visitors don't have a party. Drop us a note if the problem isn't fixed now.
