  1. It's a very new build, Rocky. Probably newer than your install. I can confirm that the latest build requires 20 gigs on the OS partition free, probably for cache space.
  2. Good catch, and I've added it. I, er, ran out of space while uploading and missed that one. Glad to help, but I recommend you grab them for yourself, as I can't really keep these hosted for long term.
  3. It's only appropriate that I reply to this, since I was more or less the caretaker and uploader of the now dead page you linked to. I'm trying (and possibly failing) to upload the images from that page, since I have a copy of them locally. Edit: For some reason, I'm having trouble uploading them. I'm working on it, though. Edit2: Success, sort of. I'm currently uploading the images individually to some personal webspace, since the .zip just won't stick for some reason. You can find them here.
  4. Formally, there is no controller support in Ghost Recon for PC. I've managed to get limited use of my Logitech Dual Action in-game, but haven't really pushed it to full use, not that I really want to. Still, I know it's possible using 3rd party tools, though since the game wasn't designed for it, it may be even more frustrating than getting used to the keyboard/mouse setup. And no, I'm not saying that because I dislike one control scheme. I'm saying that because [GR] requires a kind of precision at times that as both a keyboard/mouse user and a gamepad user, the gamepad just won't keep
  5. Below the key mappings is a button marked "Map Key" or something akin. Highlight the control you want to change, hit that button, and then a float will come up asking you what you want to change to. As for the one map issue, that is normal. You must complete each mission in an SP campaign, in order, to unlock them for quick play, though it is possible to manually unlock them using console commands or some xml file editing.
  6. Ah, you are getting the same storm(s) I am. Good news to you, as a skier!
  7. Thanks for the link, CR6. I love these sorts of podcasts, though I can't stand the term.
  8. Press release Looks like NVIDIA decided to bring on-die physics to their video cards in a slightly different manner than initially thought.
  9. I think it's time I pointed out that this is not a patch, it's extra content. And, it has to be purchased. PC users may feel slighted, but at least they haven't had to pay again for new content.
  10. I want to point out that Kimi is posting from home. She's not at the office, she's home, and it's late there. It's not an excuse for the weirdness that this release has seen, but a reminder that the messenger should not be blamed.
  11. While I'm well aware of the ability to go this route, it's inelegant. Modifying client files to solve a network issue that will resolve itself isn't a cure, it's a band aid solution.
  12. BFS isn't down. We moved the site to a new server, and thus DNS propagation issues cropped up. The site is working normally, but until your ISP's DNS servers catch up, you'll not be able to access the site. Do me a favour, and run an IP trace for blackfootstudios.com and let me know what number comes back. That'll help me figure out if it's something I can fix, though likely you're just going to have to wait a bit longer. As for the 8pm thing, we got the word from the owner to migrate the server earlier that day, and 8pm was the earliest time that those involved in the migration could
  13. GRAW 2 for PC does not support game pads. You would have to find and use a 3rd party tool that would map the keyboard and mouse to your controller. You should be able to find one that suits your config via your favourite search engine.
  14. I think the why of the lack of decent co-op features is obvious, and it's the exact same issue that causes many PC gamers to cry "console kid" when presented with a mainstream game: Despite the fact that gamers have never been more connected, there is this tightly held notion in the mainstream that gamers are insular creatures, only venturing out of their individual caves to yell profanities at "the others". Since developers are predisposed to assume bad things will happen if more than one or two of these "gamers" get together for the same task (and please, don't look at games like WoW, si
  15. I believe the Opera web browser was initially released for free, as a beta offering. Once the beta ended, Nintendo began charging for the browser.
  16. The files you are looking for are in the default path of: C:\Program Files\Red Storm Entertainment\Ghost Recon\Mods\Origmiss\Mission\ Your install location may vary. Also, note that the folder Mission appears in any mod folder containing missions. If you want to edit the mission files for the GR/DS/IT combination, you'll also need to go to \Mods\MP1\Mission and \Mods\MP2\Mission Now, the files you are looking for are *.mis files, named for the mission/map they are for. These are XML files, or at least XML-like, and can be edited with any text editor of your choosing. The text is
  17. Did you manually install the 1.4 patch? I believe the gold edition already does this, and patching to 1.4 may be the issue, if you did. Please, correct me if I'm wrong. I'd suggest uninstalling, reinstalling, and running without the 1.4 patch, seeing if the game starts up, and then checking the version number in the bottom right of the menu screen. Oh, and because it may be a factor, what OS are you currently running?
  18. The only server package that exists for Ghost Recon is the Windows binary that is the game client as well. In order to host in a *nix environment, you would need to use something like WINE to get the server running. You would also need to ensure that the server met all of the system specs for Ghost Recon as they appear on the package. Dedicated server or no, it still needs a compatible video card, sound card, etc.
  19. I believe the State you are in has consumer protection laws that overrule the store's policy. I am not a lawyer, of course, but you may have a better chance by taking your military ID and asking for a manager, explaining the situation, and asking for options. Good luck, and sorry again.
  20. Sad to say, but true. You would need to add more RAM, get a new video card, a new CPU, probably requiring a new motherboard, power supply, etc. Major surgery, if not outright replacement. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you're not going to find a fix for your issue that doesn't involve new hardware.
  21. I'm going to give you very bad news, in the simplest form. Basically put, your computer is way too old to run GRAW2. Your system specs are clearly not up to what's listed on the box, and it's going to take a major upgrade if not entire replacement before you will be able to enjoy your new game. Sorry, but that's the short version.
  22. I know what you mean. I bought SOAF at release, it died, and I lost my copy. Then I found a boxed set in a local store. R6, Rogue Spear and SOAF, with R6 and RS updated for XP. Throw "Tom Clancy's Counter-Terrorism Classics Pack" into your fave search engine.

    Portal

I finally got my copy of Orange Box today. Wow. I've played through Portal almost twice already, and it's just amazing.
