I'm curious, what's HDR. It's not something I'm familiar with (or maybe it is, and you call it something different).
High Dynamic Range. At the most basic level, as it relates to photography, you take three or more shots of the same subject, all with different exposures, and then composite them into a single image. Since underexposure and overexposure capture different details, by blending several shots of differing exposures, you end up with a single image that more accurately reflects what the human eye would see.

Don't forget that what's sold as a 500gig drive has 500,000,000 bytes of storage space. A gigabyte isn't 1,000,000 bytes, but 1*1024*1024 bytes, aka 1,048,576 bytes of actual space.
Thus, 500 "gigabytes" is 500,000,000/1,048,576 which is approximately 476.8 actual gigabytes of space, much closer to the reported 465 you're seeing.
Drives are sold by the million bytes, but store by the actual gigabyte of space.

And considering that this thread was specifically started concerning a way of helping people learn to mod, I am wondering why it was so quickly moved into the Site Feedback section?
No, it was started as a request to make a change to the layout/function of this site as a way to aid modders, and this is why the thread was moved to the Feedback section.

Considering the 8800GT is being rebranded as the 9800GT, the 9600GT should be considered inferior, albeit only slightly.

.. that previously had Starforce in the Disk version.
The thing is, Steam doesn't preclude the use of Starforce. After all, there was a big stink over BioShock's Steam release having a rather nasty build of SecuROM.

50 aircraft, 4 player "drop in" co-op, and best of all, you play as a mercenary PMC* "employee" earning cash to buy weapons upgrades. Also, with full "assists" turned on, it makes "even the average pilot feel like Iceman".
This shark comes pre-jumped.

I tend to put the antistatic bag the motherboard comes in on top of a folded towel, then on a firm surface.
The bag for insulation, the towel for a bit of give on the back side.

Best of luck with the new gig, and we hope you join folks like Serellan in remaining a part of the community here, even if you've officially moved on.

It's frequently called a "CD audio cable" and is only used if your optical drive doesn't support digital out, aka is ten years old.

Yes. Each of the three motherboard headers is designed to take up to two USB connections, one top row, one bottom.
That's actually why it's called USB56. USB1-4 are on the back panel, while USB5-10 headers are on the motherboard, paired as 56, 78 and 910.

The cables you mention correspond with the first four pins, left to right, on the connectors.

They've been aware of this little issue for several months now.

Once again, Steam's weird PayPal implementation irks me. I've got more than enough in my PayPal account to purchase the game, but because Steam sells based on regular price, and then discounts at checkout, it won't let me purchase as I don't have enough to cover the regular price, despite the fact I'm not paying the regular price...

I could easily get around it by adding a credit card to my PayPal account, but one of the reasons I use PayPal is so I don't have to give up a credit card number when making online purchases.
I could also throw more money into PayPal, but the sale will of course be over long before the transfer clears.
Bah! Ah well, no cheap Prey for me.

Care of SourceForge, here's TeaTimer.

First off, that's the incorrect install order. The correct order is:
GR -> DS -> IT -> Patch 1.4
Also, DS and IT are listed as Mods, so they need to be activated from the Mod menu (if they are not by default). Once activated, you can start a new campaign and choose any of the three to start.

I called Ubisoft makreting and they told me to check this forum.
Does anyone else find it hilarious that Ubisoft would direct it's customers to this fan site for "official" word on new Ubisoft products?

Hahahahahahahaha no. And yes, that's official.

And I need to check if that RAM is compat with the P5B.
Yes, at least by the numbers, and Kingston is generally solid stuff.

From what I've read from a few sources (and unfortunately, I don't recall exactly where, but they were fairly major gaming media resources) one of the biggest problems with repeated 360 failures is due to the repair process itself.
Microsoft has redesigned the core of the system several times, each time making it more and more efficient in terms of heat reduction. This is a good thing if you are buying a brand new 360, but if you send one in for repair, they are using old stock for parts. The same old stock that suffers the most from the red rings.
Basically, if your 360 dies, your replacement is more than likely to be just as prone. If you buy brand new now (and not new from old stock) reliability is much improved.
Mind you, much improved over terrible is quite often still rather bad.

So I filed nice and early, and got my refund just as quick. Not a huge chunk, but it's my one time a year I feel no guilt in spending it entirely on stuff just for me.
So, I picked up a Viewsonic VX1940w 19" 16:10 aspect LCD, with impressive 2ms refresh and 3000:1 contrast, as well as a moderately inexpensive Logitech MX518, the G5's baby brother.
Both took a few minutes each to set up, but wow. I am very, very pleased. And they were cheap!
Of course, later, I have to rebuild Mrs. Aldous' computer. New hard drive, new OS.... I am not pleased with WGA at the moment. Oh well. The new hard drive will be at least partially NAS, so more room for me to play.

I think what we have here is not observer, but "commander" mode being toggled. In [GR], F1/F2 allow you to change from human controlled to AI controlled, and in the latter, you issue your character orders via command map only. F2 switches views.
A hunch.

Completely different, though they are tied, plot wise. The PS2 (and I believe the GC) versions were set a few years before the Xbox title, and have a separate story/campaign.
Basically, PS2 is the prequel, while the Xbox game was the main story.

mp1 and mp2 aren't mods, they are the retail expansion packs Desert Siege and Island Thunder.
